Julie blows Lark's cover where Jake is concerned. After Lark leaves, Julie
tells Jake she is underage trouble. He does not look happy. Later, Lark
thanks Jake for not telling on her. He's pissed - there's a 10-year age gap.
Jake wants to tell Julie and Frank the truth, Lark begs him not to - Frank
will throw her out.

Matt confronts Chris about sending his picture to Daddy dearest. Chris tries
to deny it, but Matt isn't buying. Ellen tells him that Mancusi ratted on him.
Chris claims dad is just trying to get Matt to mistrust all his friends. Matt
doesn't buy it. Chris stomps out. Ellen tells Matt that his father isn't
exactly
a trustworthy source, but Matt knows Chris is lying.

Chris mentions Matt's paranoid behaviour. Just then, Matt wheels up and tells
her that he's there to check on a smoke inhalation patient - he doesn't agree
with Julie's treatment of the patient. She starts to protest, but is
interrupted by
a news crew who surround Matt. The news crew is interrupted by a gunshot and
a man running in bleeding from a chest wound. Julie calls 911, Jake and Joe go
to the gunshot victim. That's all we see, since Joe yells to get the camera
out of
there and knocks it away (pan to floor and fade to commercial). After the
break,
the man asks where he is - he's told General Hospital. He jumps up and yells
"General Hospital - you mean General Homicide!" and runs off. It turns out
the man and the crew are promoting a book called General Homicide. Joe starts
to lose his temper and Jake and Karen pull him away. Ellen asks the crew who
gave them authority to film in the hospital and throws them out. Lark comes up
and makes a flip remark about getting caught in the crossfire, which adds Matt
to
her list of admiring interns. He goes to the lounge, followed by Ellen. They
both
thought it was his dad when they first heard the shots. Matt is going to get
proof
that Chris was involved. Ellen thinks he should just get on with his life.
She is
paged to the ER and leaves. Matt calls Insurance Billing, claims he's Chris,
and
says he needs a copy of his last claim. He has them fax it to him. He gets
it,
and says Bingo. He then calls for a full background check on Chris, no matter
what the cost. Chris comes in and Matt apologizes for blaming him. Chris is
glad - he'd hate to lose Matt as a friend. Matt tells him not to worry, he
won't
be free of him for a long time.

Karen tells Scott about Eve getting caught breaking into the lab. Joe tells
Jake
that Devlin had Eve arrested. Karen tells Scott he has to help her - he
agrees.
Scott goes to the police station and talks to an angry Eve. Scott goes to the
hospital to confront Devlin. (LOD: Devlin tells Scott not to worry his spiky
little head about the lab.) Devlin tells Scott he should worry about his own
daughter. Scott tells Devlin that he's going to refund the research. Devlin
says Eve can't do much research from the county jail. Scott tells him he's
out of his league (Go Scottie!!) and he'll see Devlin in court.

Lucy and Kevin are worried about Victor who has been scribbling little notes
on every available paper. Kevin notices that all of them are about Rex.
Victor
is trying to figure out Rex's password - it uses a simple algorithm. He wrote
down the password somewhere on a piece of paper and starts hunting through
all the papers lying all over. Lucy and Kevin have Victor retrace his steps,
but
he has some problems focusing. Victor feels bad, but Kevin is certain he put
it somewhere safe - somewhere no one would want to break into. Kevin jumps
up and checks one of Victor's board games - he wrote it in the back of a "Get
out of Jail Free" card!! Typically, Lucy starts hatching a plan about dressing
like
accountants and getting into Rex's account - but Victor can do it from his
laptop.

Lark tries to butter up Jake with coffee. He won't promise anything, but he
doesn't want to see her in trouble. Joe comes up as she leaves. Jake thinks
Lark needs a friend (tho not him), but Joe says she has a way of making people
sorry that they were nice to her.

Eve arrives at the hospital and talks to Joe and Karen. Scott comes up and
tells them to start getting together lab stuff. Devlin comes up and he tells
Eve
that she's suspended. (Cliffhanger)
