From: tntmur@aol.com (Tntmur) Subject: PC: Friday Update - 4/3/98 Date: 6 Apr 1998 04:56:48 GMT Port Charles - Friday Update - April 3rd 1998 (posted and e-mail) Julie comes into the Scanlon home just in time to see Lark kissing Frank. "What the hell is going on here?" she asks. Frank can't help coming out with the cliche. "This is not what it looks like." Lark tells Julie to chill out, because they were just kissing. It's not like they were naked though they would have been if Julie had come in a little later. Frank tells her to go to her room. But Julie wants to have things out right away. She says that Lark is a spoiled brat. Lark says that she has nothing on Julie. Julie reminds Lark of all she owes Frank for his kindness, and what a bad girl Lark has been. Lark bursts out that Julie is just jealous because Frank loves her and wants to be with her instead of Julie. Frank tells her that tactic didn't work with Jake and it's not going to work with him. Julie wants to know what Jake has to do with it and Frank explains about "Chloe". Frank says he's done everything, but it isn't working. He's going to call social services and send her back. Lark is in tears, "But you love me." Julie tells her to face reality, but Lark insists. "He really loves me. Tell her the truth, tell her it's me you want." Frank grimly says that Lark should go get her stuff. Kevin asks why Victor says he recognizes parts of Kevin's book. Victor says he was probably mistaken because his medication has him all muddled up. Kevin asks how Victor knew that he wrote it. Victor lies and says he recognized the style. He thinks he'll turn in now. He starts to walk over to the stairs. But Kevin does not want to let the subject drop. "I wrote that book as a work of fiction. I thought I made it all up just out of my imagination." (Well, apparently not. All the characters are from real life and the situations are from real life; perhaps Kevin should concentrate on the Documentary genre.) "And now you tell me that you saw something." Victor says it isn't important. It is to Kevin because he likes writing mysteries, not living them. Victor says he can't discuss it. It's too painful for him and for Kevin. He goes upstairs. Grace is back at the Nurses' station. The interns happily greet her. Karen and Joe compliment her on her new sweater they bought her. She says she got it compliments of two very nice interns. Matt comments that it must have been at some other hospital because there are no nice interns here. (Too right, Matt!) Grace thinks what Dr. Devlin did to Eve stinks. And Matt doesn't believe that Devlin can actually get away with it. Eve suggests that Devlin will soon be getting a taste of his own medicine. Matt and Grace leave and Eve conspires with her cohorts. Tomorrow Joe will switch the tapes at Devlin's lecture. Eve advises him not to get caught. (Good thing she didn't ask him to set the VCR clock too, he'd have been caught for sure.) Karen wants a hint about what's on the tape, but Eve wants it to be a surprise. It's the next morning. Frank lets in Mr. Harkin from social services. He's come to take Lark away. Julie goes to get Lark. Frank mopes about how he's failed with Lark. Mr. Harkin says it wasn't Frank's fault, and what they're doing is the best thing for her. Frank see's his wallet lying on the floor, and wonders what it's doing there. Julie comes back and says that Lark is gone. And so is all the cash in Frank's wallet. Kevin and Victor are at the breakfast table. Kevin would like to finish the conversation they began last night. Victor would not. Victor gets up from the table and goes to the couch to read his paper, but Kevin won't let him avoid things any longer. Kevin has an uneasy feeling, and he wants Victor's help to figure it out. Victor refuses. "Victor, these images are like bits and pieces of a puzzle that is only half-finished," says Kevin. Victor leaps on that. "But that's how life is. You just have to learn to live with it." "Victor, I've learned to live with some of the most difficult truths imaginable. The only way to live with it is to know it." He is just asking for Victor's help to find some of the pieces. "The place to start is obvious," he tells Victor. "Mother was abusing Ryan, I know that." Victor still does not want to talk about it. Kevin wants to know why Victor didn't take Ryan with them. Victor says he did the best he could. Kevin wants to know why his brother had to become a serial killer and he tormented one of his best friends. Victor says he can't, but Kevin won't accept that anymore. He tears the newspaper out of Victors hands, and grabs him by the collar. "Victor, you listen to me, burying unpleasant things in the past may be a Collins way of life, but I will not do it anymore." Victor thinks he should stop living in the past. Things have turned out well. Kevin is a Doctor. Kevin points out that he isn't allowed to practice because of the crimes he committed. Victor dismisses that. Kevin says he and Lucy are planning a family, and he wants to be able to tell his children about his past without having huge gaps and holes he can't fill in. He asks Victor to help him understand why his mother did the things she did. "My God," says Victor. "You don't understand. I am the guilty one. I am!" Devlin walks into the lecture hall. He jokes that heart valve replacement surgery is a subject near and dear to his heart. The crowd is not in the mood. Karen says that she hopes Dr. Devlin can talk about the Devlin M1, the valve he himself developed. (The one they think he stole.) Devlin says he will and that the valve has a high success rate. He's brought a tape of an M1 valve replacement surgery. "Doctors watch and learn," he says as he turns on the tape. But it's not what he expected, instead it's a tape of Devlin playing "doctor" with a female "patient" Bennett rushes to try to turn the tape off, while the crowd laughs at him. Eve is lurking outside the door. Kevin tells his father. "Would you start at the beginning for me, please." Victor tells him that Kevin's mother was obsessed with Ryan and that there was nothing he could do to prevent it. Kevin says to him. "Victor, when I told you that she was sexually abusing my brother, you packed me up and we left that night without so much as a backward glance. Why did you do that? Why? Didn't you love Ryan? What was he damaged goods? Didn't you love her?" Victor says that he could only save Kevin. Kevin asks why Victor didn't sue for custody. Victor claims that back then the woman always got the children. He'd have lost Kevin if he tried. He says he can never forgive himself for what he wasn't able to do. His only consolation, he claims, is that he was able to save Kevin. At the nurses' station, the interns and Grace are giggling over the Devlin incident. Grace wants to know where the tape comes from. Karen and Joe claim ignorance. Karen's glad Julie wasn't there to see it or she'd be in Therapy for five years. Matt thinks that the tape switching must have been an inside job. Chris suggests they should throw a dollar into the pot for whoever did it. Burgess comes up. "I'm sorry to throw cold water on your party, but no matter how you feel about Dr. Devlin personally it's never a good idea to take too much pleasure out of someone else's misfortune. That sort of thing has a way of coming back and biting you in the tail." She walks away, but Karen is still smiling. Eve is in the Scanlon Living Room. She's on the phone to Scott telling him how well her little porno prank went. There's a knock at the door. She tells Scott to give Serena a hug for her. The knocking has become pounding. She answers it. It's Bennett. He goes right in. He's angry at Eve for humiliating him at the Hospital. She reminds him that she doesn't work there anymore. He tells her that her juvenile prank is nothing compared to what he's going to do to her. She says he's already got her thrown out of the intern program. She tells him to get the hell out before He's glad she understands that he's serious. "I'm going, but I will be back." "Oh, is that supposed to be scary. You better work on it." She closes the door in his face. Frank comes home. Frank is worried because he hasn't heard from Lark. He's looked everywhere for her. Eve says Lark will turn up. Frank agonizes some more over having failed Lark. Eve assures him it's not his fault. She tells him the project was doomed from the beginning. "Lark cannot even imagine what it would be like for somebody to do something out of kindness and not want something in return, and in your case it was something sexual." The phone rings. It's Lark. He's glad she called I was worried. She says he's not worried about her. He's just worried she'll make him look bad. She won't tell him where she is. "You blew me off like everybody else. So I'm going to show you and Julie and Jake and all the people who ever hurt me." She hangs up. Devlin strides up to the nurses station and accuses Chris of not keeping him properly updated on a patients project. Chris is confused. It's not Devlin's patient. Devlin leads him to the lounge. He really wanted to talk about having Chris doing something sneaky for him. "What? Do you need fresh video tape for your camera," asks Chris. Devlin says Eve has made a serious mistake. Chris wants to know what that has to do with him. Devlin will fill him in when he needs to know. "Suffice it to say you never know what secrets are lurking in somebody's past." "Eve's in trouble," says Chris. "You're not taking any prisoners." Kevin come into the darkened Lighthouse. He goes over and turns off the one lamp still lit. He hears someone laughing. "Who's that?" The laughter continues. "Ryan?" he whispers. (Ryan is always in such a jolly mood in Kevin's dreams.) He moves towards the sound. "Ryan? Is that you?" Ryan is in a dark corner with only his facial features lit. "What the hell's so funny," Kevin asks. "What are you laughing at." Ryan answers him. "You. I'm laughing at you, Kevin. You are such a fool." "Why am I a fool?" "Because you're so naive. You believe anything anybody tells you." "Are you trying to tell me something?" (Why Kev? Would you believe him?) "You are so dense," dreamRyan says. He fades into the blackness. Kevin calls out to him. "Ryan? Ryan? What are you trying to tell me? Ryan?" Kevin wakes up on the living room couch. He sits up and covers his eyes with his hands. "All problems have a beginning and an end, except Kevin's, they just keep wrapping themselves around each other." -- Felicia Jones - GH Director - Jill Ackles ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX * !!
