Subject: PC: Update for 4/30/98

I'm subbing today as the updater for PC. Haven't done one of these for a
while, so you won't find much humor or commentary, mostly just
narrative.

In the interrogation room at the PCPD, Scott looks on as Julie is
questioned by Garcia. She denies killing her father, can't explain how
her prints got on the pen used to kill him. Scott claims she's being set
up. Garcia shows her a pen in an evidence bag and asks if she recognizes
it--she does. Her father gave it to her when she graduated from medical
school. Then Garcia tells her it's the murder weapon.

Frank has set off the security alarm in the lab. First Joe, and then
Jake and Karen (wearing the same Ally McBeal short skirt from yesterday)
arrive. Frank is sweating profusely, then stumbles. Joe is very
concerned.

INTRO

Frnak claims he just had a cramp. Joe, Karen, and Jake try to play
doctor, but Frank resists. He says he just needs some air. Frank exits
the lab, sneaks into a nearby room, and injects himself. Meanwhile, the
three amigos express concern over whether Frank is having a relapse. A
moment later the junky returns, "good as new!"

At the 6th floor nurses station, Matt is doing some paperwork when Chris
walks up. They exchange barbs and discuss Julie. Matt doesn't believe is
capable of killing her father and steers the conversation around to
Chris' motives for wanting Devlin out of the way. Ellen Burgess steps
off the elevator, back from her interview in San Diego. More about
Julie. Burgess starts to walk away, but Matt calls her to wait a second
and asks about the interview. She gets beeped. Chris tells Matt that
Burgess is a lost cause.

Back at the PCPD, Garcia continues to trade theories with Scott and
Julie. He tries to make something of Julie using an "assumed" name when
she first came to GH. Scott gets ticked. Garcia advises Julie to confess
and then tells the guard to take her back to her cell. After the
requisite shot of handcuffs closing around Julie's wrists, she is herded
out (wearing the same kind of shirt Carly on GH is wearing, BTW; good
coordination).

Eve is waiting in the squad room for Scott. When Julie is led through,
Eve asks her how she's doing. Kevin & Lucy are also there, and they
express concern that they're going to stop looking for the real killer.
Julie asks where Frank is. Julie gets led off. Kevin and Lucy and Scott
and Eve discuss Julie's first night in jail. I think Scott said the food
wasn't too bad (he's had plenty of experience!). Scott asks Kevin if
he'll be a character witness for Julie. Kevin says he can talk about how
he saw her during the intern group counseling following the Greg Cooper
hostage situation. Scott says he needs to go put Serena to bed, but Eve
says Gail called and Serena's already asleep. Lucy looks annoyed. Scott
starts to lead Eve out, but Lucy tries to stop him to chat. She doesn't
want to talk in front of "big ears." Eve picks up on Lucy's attitude.
Scott gets ticked, too, and leaves with Eve. Kevin calls Lucy on her
behavior. Lucy claims she's concerned that Eve will kill Scott like
she/Lucy thinks Eve did Devlin. Kevin rolls his eyes.

The next morning, Ellen is at the nurses station when Matt rolls off the
elevator. She doesn't see him at first and starts to move away. He
catches her and asks again about the interview. She says it went well:
they offered her the job. She says it feels good to be in demand, and
Matt does some ego stroking, too. She remembers how hard it was to go
back to school after Sam died. But she's come to care about GH and isn't
sure she wants to leave. She has a couple of weeks to decide.

At Julie's bail hearing, Julie is worried about why Frank isn't there.
The judge enters and reads the charges, to which Julie pleads NOT
GUILTY. ADA Dara Jensen requests that bail be denied, because Julie has
the means to flee. Scott makes the case that Julie isn't a flight risk.
Scott and Dara trade barbs. Scott calls Kevin as a witness. Dara
objects! Kevin is no longer licensed and wrote a book that included a
chillingly similar murder. The judge overrules her. Kevin talks about
Julie's track record of coping well with any situation. He says she's
always exhibited constructive ways of coping with stress. He then goes
on to give a brief profile of the kind of person who could have killed
Devlin. Just then, the camera pans to the door of the hearing room, and
we see Frank step inside. [Nothing subtle there, eh?]

Matt rolls back tothe nurses station. Mike arrives with info about where
Chris got the $20,000--from Devlin! Matt theorizes that Chris killed
Devlin. Matt says he won't let Chris get away with it and suggests maybe
it's time to talk to Garcia.

During a break in the action at the court room, Eve tells Scott he was
fabulous. Lucy looks on suspiciously. Scott just wants to get Julie out
on bial. Lucy makes snigde comments to Kevin about how Eve is "playing"
Scott. Kevin won't have any part of it and tells her to butt out of
Scott's love life.

Frank apologies to Julie for leaving the station last night. He says he
was afraid he was going to hit Garcia and didn't think that would help
her case. The judge returns with his decision. Motion for bail is
denied. Lucy is angry and tells Kevin she's determined to prove that Eve
killed Devlin.
