Hi everybody:

Well, today's update starts with two big apologies:

(1) Sorry there was no Wednesday update last week. I thought I was
going to be in Cuba (teaching a course and doing research) for two
weeks, but I had the chance to turn it into three weeks. So I did.
And, since I had no ABC or internet access (it was Cuba, after all!),
there was no way to either do the update or get a replacement. Hope no
one was dying for an update that day.

(2) The other apology is that I've been so swamped since I got home that
I actually "forgot" yesterday was Wednesday, and, although I watched PC,
I didn't take any notes. So, the update is going to be sketchy, based
on memory.

On another note, I got into a Cuban soap while I was down there.
Interesting how similar the structure was, and how much the storylines
resembled tried-and-true soap plots from North America. Extra-marital
affairs, a pregnancy involving a man other than the woman's husband,
scheming to steal someone's fortune, etc. Even with my limited spanish,
I found it a hoot to watch.

Now for the sketchy update:

Kevin calls Gail. He wants her to come over (which she does) to talk
about the recent events in his life. He is upset because he's seen Ryan
in the mirror again. Plus, he found a noose in the trunk of his car.
He tells Gail that Karen's character in General Homicide was killed by
hanging at the Nurse's Ball. In his recent vision of Ryan, Ryan accused
Kevin of being just like him. Kevin then had a recovered memory session
with Gail. Kevin sees himself killing Victor's mistress at the picnic.
He is now sure that he and Ryan are no different from each other.

Eve and Chris are in the on-call room. Chris is happy, as he thinks
that he is now a shoe-in for the Q Residency. Eve is upset that the
police have recovered her bracelet. She is fuming at Lucy. She is
going to be Lucy's dresser at the Ball, and has a plan to "more than
embarass her" at the Ball. Eve tells Chris the truth about her bracelet
and is worried that Garcia will find traces of blood on it, even though
she scrubbed it (Chris reminds her that organic evidence is difficult to
get rid of). Chris tells Eve he took the pics of Matt and Ellen. Eve
is not impressed.

Near the end of the show, Scott tells Eve that Garcia did find blood on
her bracelet.

Monica sees Ellen outside the boardroom. Monica, being rather forward
and slightly nasty, tells Ellen that the hospital board will be tough on
her at her hearing. When Ellen faces the board (Dr. May, Alan, Lee and
and Monica -- this board has more faces than Deception!), she defends
her actions. She tells the board she and Matt became involved when she
had resigned and was planning to go to San Diego. It was a mistake, she
admits, to start up with him when she came back because of her mother's
health. She does not want Matt to suffer for this, and thinks that he
should still be considered for the Q residency. Scott is there as
defender-of-doctors-against-the-board (a recurring role). He speaks to
the issue of her abilities as a doctor, as well as pointing out that
people in glasses shouldn't throw stones (ie., others there are not
innocent of having fooled around with others, including subordinates, at
GH). The board reassigns Ellen within the hospital, taking the Chief
Resident title from her. Matt meets Ellen after the board meeting. She
tells Matt the board was fair with her.

Matt asks Ellen to the Nurses Ball, but she says she would be
uncomfortable going with him, and doesn't want to flaunt their
relationship in front of GH.

Courtney chats Joe up about the Ball, but gets nowhere. She then chats
up Karen, who offers her a dress to wear. Later, when Joe and Karen are
paying Neil a visit, he learns that Courtney is going to the Nurses Ball
when she comes from the bathroom wearing one of Karen's dresses.

See you next Wedenesday!
