I'm subbing for Rika on the update for Thursday June 18 and
-- wouldn't ya know it -- my local affiliate interrupts PC
not once but *twice* during this episode. I think they are
vying for the coveted Affiliates Award for Most Excessive Use
of News Preemptions. I have most of the show in my update
below, but I'm hoping some generous RATSAers could take a few
minutes to provide an update of either of the missing parts,
particularly since it looks like a murder/attempted murder
will be happening soon and I would hate to have left out any
potential clues.

Thanks,
Roser

MISSING: The first couple of minutes of the show. I think this
must have been a scene with Eve, Scott, and Garcia; when my
local station joined PC already in progress, I saw Eve and Scott
standing in the Firehouse looking not-so-happy, and then they
cut to the next scene.

AT THE LIGHTHOUSE

Kevin is pacing. Victor and Lucy come in, bickering because Lucy
was 45 minutes late picking up Victor at the Community Center.
Lucy notices Kevin's down mood, mentions that he was very quiet
last night and was gone this morning before she got up. "Has
something happened?" she asks.

Kevin tells them he had a session with Gail yesterday; they used
a memory-recovery technique to remember what happened at the
picnic. "I remembered everything. I remember Ryan...and the
woman...and throwing the knives. I killed that woman, Lucy."
Lucy says no, he "just had a confused memory." But Kev insists
it is true. He tells Victor, "I remember that Ryan and I were
imitating what we had just seen at the circus. Ryan persuaded me
to throw those knives at your mistress." Lucy again suggests
that it could be a false memory. Kevin says, "I remember
specifically being covered in blood. What else could that be?"
Victor says he shouldn't have told Monk anything about that day,
it wasn't Kevin's fault, he was just a baby, he didn't know what
he was doing. "A normal four-year-old child doesn't just kill,
Victor. There was something wrong with me then. And there's
something wrong with me now."

Lucy tells Kevin, "I know you and I know that you are not a
killer." Kevin insists that "Thirty years ago I killed that
woman. And now it looks like I am connected to the murders
based on my book." Kevin brings up the clown suit, the noose,
the Ryan-hallucinations, and his lack of an alibi for either
Devlin's or Grace's murder. He wonders if maybe he did black-out.

Victor has an idea: he'll be Kevin's shadow, keep an eye on him.
Lucy says she'll keep an eye on him too. Kevin likes the idea,
but makes them promise that, if he does black-out, they should
call Mac and get out. Lucy wants to stay with him now, but Kevin
tells her to go to her Nurses Ball rehearsal. He has to take
Victor for a checkup anyway. She asks Kev to stop by her
rehearsal on his way home from the checkup. Kevin then starts
up the stairs; Victor "The Shadow" Collins is one step behind.
Kevin tells Victor he doesn't have to stay *that* close. Kevin
continues upstairs alone. Lucy decides to go upstairs to check
on...her lipstick. Victor, alone in the living room, goes over
to the small globe behind the sofa, pulls it open at the equator,
and removes from inside it a pistol. He checks to see if it is
loaded.

AT THE FIREHOUSE

Scott tells Garcia to back off, Eve is not going to confess to
anything. Garcia asks Eve, "Why didn't you give me the bracelet
when I came to your house with the search warrant?" "Because I
was scared," she replies, and asks if she was required to volunteer
the bracelet. Scott says, "No, 5th Amendment." Garcia asks if she
lost the bracelet the day of Devlin's murder. Yes, she says, "and
then I found it in the on-call room." "Oh? That's not what I
heard," Garcia says, but Scott and Eve stick to the latest version
of their story. Scott then puts on his "as Julie's attorney" hat
and insists he has a right to know if Garcia found any blood on the
bracelet. Garcia says, "There was blood on that bracelet, but it
was too degraded to get a match with Devlin's." Eve looks subtly
relieved.

But Garcia warns her, "I've got my eye on you, Dr. Lambert.
Nobody tosses a piece of gold into the harbor without a reason."
"Insurance fraud?" Eve offers. Garcia is not amused. He asks Eve
about her being Lucy's dresser at the Nurses Ball; is she going to
try something stupid like killing Lucy then? Eve asks, "Do I look
stupid?" "Not very," says Garcia, "but it would sure make my job
a heckuva lot easier." Scott interrupts the banter to ask what
Garcia is doing to protect his daughter Karen, who dies in "General
Homicide" by hanging from a noose like the one found in Kevin's
trunk.

AT THE HOSPITAL 6TH FLOOR NURSE'S STATION

Karen discusses a patient with a nurse, then...

**********INTERRUPTION -- MISSING SCENE(S)**********

AT THE BALLROOM ENTRANCE (scene joined in progress)

Jake, Kevin, and Victor are standing together. Jake says, "No, we
want people to give money, not run screaming from the building.
Nah, I'm just helping with some of the setups. Professor Collins,
how are you doing today?" Victor is his "usual cheery self" (as
Kevin says) and launches into a rant about doctors keeping their
patients waiting. Jake says he has to go check the rigging.
Kevin says he'll go with him so he can check on security. Victor
is so grumpy about being late and missing the "dancing ladies in
their leotards and high heels" that he forgets to be The Shadow
and tells Kevin he will stay right there and watch the door.
Kevin says "suit yourself" and leaves with Jake.

Mary Scanlon arrives for rehearsal. Victor stops her, insists on
seeing her i.d. even though he knows her. After a little banter,
Victor asks Mary to be his date for the Nurse's Ball. She accepts.
"You do?" he says with surprise. Mary asks if she may now enter.
Victor regains his composure and replies, "D'accord...s'il vous
plait..." and escorts her on her way, presumably to backstage.

ON THE STAGE

Jake and Kevin arrive together. Lucy is bummed that Kev is so late
and has missed the rehearsal of her number. Jake asks Lucy if she
wants him to check the rigging. Yes, Lucy says, "there is some sort
of hangup thingy happening up in the rigging deal and I don't want
a snafu on Friday, please." Jake leaves to check on it. Kev then
asks Lucy if she has seen anything unusual. Lucy says no, and
"let's not talk about it because Serena is on her way over here to
practice her little number with her dad."

Gail and Serena arrive, and Lucy says "Gail, I am so glad you've
decided to put aside our little differences and your self-centered
self and change your mind and do the chorus line." Gail says no,
she has not changed her mind, she will be in the audience enjoying
herself. Scott and Eve arrive.

Lucy pulls Scott aside and asks him just what is he thinking,
bringing *her* (Eve) to Lucy's rehearsal. The two of them bicker
over Eve's guilt/innocence and over Lucy's snitching/doing her civic
duty. "So shoot me," Lucy says defiantly. "Don't tempt me," Scott
responds as Eve struts over and says, 'That makes two of us, Lucy."
Gail, Kevin, and Serena approach but, seeing a fight in progress,
Gail and Kevin decide instead to take Serena off to look at her
dressing room. They leave the stage.

Eve, Scott, and Lucy launch into their usual fight. Julie and Karen
arrive just as Lucy mentions how Scott found Eve's bracelet by
Devlin's dead body and didn't tell the police. Julie overhears this
and blows up at Scott. She fires him as her attorney and threatens
a legal malpractice suit, "but first" she says, looking at Eve, "I
am going to see you in jail for murder." Julie storms off and Karen
chases after her.

BACK AT THE BALLROOM ENTRANCE

Karen catches up with Julie and tries to defend Scott to her. Julie
isn't buying it. She leaves.

ON STAGE AGAIN

No one but Lucy is in sight, rehearsal seems to be over, and Lucy is
putting chairs away, grumbling that whoever was supposed to do this
didn't. Suddenly the lights go out. Lucy yells for whomever turned
the lights off to turn them back on. No reply. And then we hear
footsteps (hard-soled shoes, I think, like men's dress shoes or
women's heels). Lucy begins to look worried. "Hello?" she calls.
No reply, but the footsteps seem to be getting louder, coming toward
Lucy. Lucy quickly heads for the exit, but she finds the door locked.
The footsteps get louder and faster. Lucy yells for help.

Suddenly the lights come back on and Kevin bursts through the formerly
locked door, coming to Lucy's aid. They embrace with relief.
"Somebody was chasing me," Lucy tells him, holding onto him so he
can't go chasing after whoever it was. Kevin is panting and Lucy asks
him, "Why are you breathing so hard?" "I heard you scream and I
practically ran all the way across the building." Jake comes running
up to them. What are you doing here, they ask him. "I was checking
the rigging in back and the lights went out. I was hoping I might be
able to catch the person, but well, I got caught up in some of the
rigging out back. Some hero..." Kevin asks if Jake was at the
lighting board. "No. No way. Nowhere near it. Lucy, I would never
do anything to scare you." They accept his answer and tell him to go
back to what he was doing before. Jake leaves the stage.

Kevin tells Lucy he does not want her to emcee the Nurses Ball. Lucy
insists that she will do it. She feels she is safer onstage in front
of the whole town than if she were hiding at home "like some sitting
duck -- sorry, Sigmund." They hug, and Lucy tells Kevin it's going to
be okay. And then we notice Lark, yes Lark, lurking nearby, peering
out from the curtains, spying on Kevin and Lucy.

AT THE HOSPITAL'S ON-CALL ROOM

Karen, alone, unlocks her locker. Inside, hanging from the door by a
black noose, is a brunette barbie-type doll attired in a blue mini-
skirt and tank top with light and dark horizontal stripes. Karen is
rather startled.
