PC Update, Thursday, 25 June 1998

I'm filling in on the update for today, and I promise to leave all
editorizalizing out of things as best I can! <G>

1. Frank and Lark

At the beginning of the episode, Frank was at the Juvenile Center with
Lark. He told her that it was going to be hard work getting her back
to the Scanlon home and that Julie didn't even know that was his
objective. She told him that the place made her feel like going out
on the ledge again, and he replied that she had played the "suicide
sympathy card" one too many times. She repeated that the only thing
the wanted to do was go home with him.

2. Scott, Eve, and Serena

Eve: "My gosh. Alright, if you keep kissing me like that, I am going
to have to hold on to the railing. Busy later?"

The scene shifted to the firehouse, where Eve had returned from going
roller skating with Serena's ladybug troop. Serena glowed about Eve's
skating skills--she had taught the girl to skate backwards--and teased
Scott about having to hold onto the rail. When she went upstairs,
Scott and Eve kissed. My favorite line of the day was above--love
that inuendo. Scott then listed all the things he had to do before
going out of town for the day to see a client in Canada. Eve offered
to take Serena for the day, saying that she wanted to get to know her
better, and Scott agreed. He asked Serena if she wanted to stay with
Eve, and Serena gave one of her patented cheers.

3. The Interns

At the hospital, Karen and Julie were discussing Jake's death. Julie
was heartless, saying that Jake deserved to burn in hell for what he
had done, but Karen was willing to try and understand what Jake had
been going through. Joe entered and reminded them about Jake's
attempt to kill Rex shortly after Danielle's death. Julie couldn't
believe that they were even trying to undertand Jake--was angry with
Karen for sympathizing with Jake as if it were a personal betrayal.
Karen pointed out that Jake's suicide was an attempt at atonement, but
Joe didn't buy that. Matt arrived next and said that Jake was just a
coward trying to get out of paying for his crimes. Karen insisted
that this was a tragedy for all of them--including Jake.

Chris: "Oh, come on. Would you find another bad guy?"

Matt: "God made a mess with you, Chris. I intend to clean it up."

Chris arrived to announce that he had claimed their bed pan pool as to
who would win the Quartermaine, and he was roundly criticized for his
timing and insensitivity. Matt, especially, lit into him, and
announced that he would prove that Chris was the one who posted the
pictures of him and Ellen. His line above rubbed me the wrong way,
somehow.

4. Scott, Frank, and Lark

Scott arrived at the Juvenile center to tell Frank and Lark that she
would be put in a group home. They both refused that answer, but
Scott said he had done all that he could.

5. Lucy, Serena, and Eve

Lucy arrived at the firehouse at this point to see Scott. She was not
at all pleased to find Eve there, and became downright angry when she
heard that Eve was staying with Serena.

6. Lucy and Kevin

Lucy: "If the police didn't already have the murderer, I could be
added to the list of suspects."
Kevin: "No sales at the mall?"

Lucy, in her outrage, returned to the lighthouse, where she told Kevin
the bad mood which, predictably, he didn't think was so bad. He told
Lucy that Eve and Serena got along well and that she had to learn that
she couldn't be the only woman in Serena's life. He suggested that
Lucy call Eve, make the peace, and arrange to split the time with
Serena. Lucy wouldn't hear that; she insisted that she had carried
that child in her body for nine months and that Serena was hers. She
wouldn't share, and she wouldn't let Eve take her away.

7. Joe and Karen

Joe and Karen talked about the interns' attitudes towards Jake once
the others had left. He told her that she was definitely in the
minority to feel anything towards Jake but anger. She couldn't let go
of the fact that Jake had been her friend; she hated the things he
did, not him. She noted again that it had been a horrible year and
wondered why they couldn't help each other through this. Joe said
that their internships were over and they would most likely grow
apart. She was glad to have him and he returned the sentiment.

8. Frank and Lark

Both Frank and Lark were adamant that she should go back to the
Scanlon house, but the social worker arrived to tell them what he had
told Scott. Lark's problems came out of instability, and he didn't
think that she'd find that with Frank. His roommates didn't approve
of her and the circumstances already showed that she would be better
off somewhere else. Frank pleaded his case, and the man finally said
that there was one thing Frank could do that would make him change his
mind. The scene cut off before we could hear what that was.

Matt: "Well, not all bad guys wear black. I mean, murderers can be
like me and you."

Frank went to the hospital and ran into Matt. He started on the
subject of Jake, and when Matt gave the above line, the look on his
face was suspicious. Joe arrived next, and Frank caught him up to
speed on Lark and announced that he was going to adopt her. Joe
looked stunned.

9. Scott, Eve, and Serena

Serena: "Come closer."
Scott: "Closer? Closer? Come closer? Ok, I'm going to come this
close. How about this close? Is that close enough?"
Serena: "Ok, back up a little bit."

Scott: "I've always wanted a pinky ring."

Eve arrived, bearing much gear, and Scotty teased her about not having
to look nice because he'd be out of town. Serena was set on a
makeover, though. She said goodbye to her daddy, asked if he'd bring
her a surprise, and promised that she would miss him. She gave him
her ring to wear so that she'd be with him, and he told her that she
was always with him. And then she asked him, when he flew high near
mommy's star, to tell her that she was ok there with Eve--Dominique
could look over them while he was away.

10. Lucy

Lucy continued not to take Kevin's suggestion to heart. She fumed
over the phone, and her good and bad angels appeared at her shoulders.
Needless to say, she listened to the bad and planned to drain the gas
out of Eve's tank so that she couldn't pick up Serena at ballet and
Lucy could ride in and save the day.
