From: rika1@mindspring.com (Rika) Subject: PC: Update, Thursday, 7/30/98 Date: Sun, 16 Aug 1998 22:09:25 GMT X-Server-Date: 16 Aug 1998 22:07:47 GMT PORT CHARLES UPDATE Thursday, July 30, 1998 LOVE, OBSESSION, AND RESPONSIBILITY ----------------------------------- It's the morning after what was supposed to be Kevin and Lucy's wedding night, and she's still wearing the white gown she obviously intended to wear for that occasion. She picks up the phone and dials, tearfully begging, "Please be there this time." She gets Scott's answering machine. He listens to Lucy leave a message - she knows he doesn't want to talk to her, but she hopes he'll listen. She can explain what happened; she begs him to call her at the P.C. Hotel. The machine cuts her off, and Scott walks over and erases the message. Back at the Firehouse, Serena is walking down the stairs. She has made it most of the way down, counting the steps, but she asks to be carried down the last few. Scott agrees to do so "just this once." They sit down on the couch. Serena has dressed herself; Scott tells her she's the prettiest girl in Port Charles. As he fixes one mis-buttoned button, they hear Lucy at the door, asking Scott to let her in. Serena wonders why Scott isn't letting Lucy in - is Scott mad at Lucy? Scott admits that he is mad, but Serena begs him to let Lucy in, so he does. Scott whispers to Lucy that Serena doesn't know that Lucy caused the accident, and he doesn't want her to know. Lucy has five minutes to visit, and that's it. Lucy hugs Serena, who tells her she dressed herself. Serena asks if Lucy is mad "back" at Scott. Lucy says, no, she's not, and besides, Scott and Lucy get mad at each other a lot but they always work it out because they care about each other. Serena asks how Kevin is - did they finish the wedding after she left? And why isn't Lucy on her honeymoon? Lucy says that she and Kevin decided to wait a while to get married. Why, asks Serena - "aren't you still in love?" (Serena cuts right to the point.) Lucy insists that they *are* still in love, but they just weren't ready to get married. Serena more or less accepts that, but doesn't see why Lucy and her dad have to fight. She thinks it's time that they made up. Gail calls; Scott takes Serena into the other room to talk to Gail. When he returns, he starts to kick Lucy out. He tells Lucy he wants nothing to do with her - there is nothing to talk about. Lucy wants to explain; Scott won't let her. Lucy apologizes, but Scott says Lucy is "always sorry." He won't ever let Serena near Lucy again. Her obsession with Serena is sick - she even sabotaged Scott's plane to keep him in Port Charles. He's tired of the way Lucy never thinks about the consequences of her actions; this time her actions blinded Serena because she got caught in Lucy's "sick crossfire." Lucy insists she would give her life for Serena; Scott asks, "What about your eyes?" Lucy reminds him that she already gave her body - during the time she carried Serena they developed a profound connection, and she loves Serena. Scott thinks love is a game to Lucy - winning is everything, and she just wants the prize. Lucy insists that she knows that, and she'll regret it for the rest of her life. She just needs another chance. Scott tells her she won't get another chance, and tries to throw her out. Lucy asks what will happen to Serena if Scott tears them apart. He figures Serena is young and she'll get over it. Scott says it again - he will never forget, he'll never forgive, and he wants Lucy out of their lives. Lucy finally listens to him and leaves in silence. Serena comes back and wonders where Lucy went. She finds it very strange that Lucy left; Lucy never leaves without saying goodbye. She wonders if Lucy is mad at her because she's mad at Scott. Scott assures her that Lucy is crazy about her, but he's having a problem with Lucy and so asked her to leave. Serena asks what Lucy did; Scott explains that sometimes love isn't enough. Adults have responsibilities to protect children, and Lucy didn't do that. She let an adult problem get out of hand, and now he can't trust Lucy with Serena any more. Serena asks for more details, and finally Scott explains about Lucy siphoning the gas. Serena asks if this means she will never see Lucy again. Lucy arrives back at her hotel room, barely holding herself in control. Finally she loses it, sinking to the floor and dissolving into tears. IS IT BAD LUCK TO TOAST WITH ORANGE JUICE? ------------------------------------------ At the hospital, Frank accosts Chris. He needs more DL56. Chris can't give it to him right then - he has a tonsillectomy to do. Karen and Joe arrive, hand in hand. Julie walks over. Karen and Joe share the news about their engagement; Frank and Julie are thrilled. Frank sees Courtney sitting nearby listening, and he drags her over to offer her congratulations. Frank proposes a celebration at The Recovery Room (hmmm.... and it looked like Julie was on duty). The Scanlons and their women head off; after a moment of hesitation, Courtney follows. We see them a bit later; Frank is telling a story about a childhood baseball game when Karen distracted Joe and caused him to strike out. Many toasts are offered (and orange juice is consumed). Courtney offers a toast of her own; Frank whispers in her ear, "And the Oscar goes to...." Back at the Recovery Room, Frank and Courtney leave. Joe and Karen nuzzle each other while Julie teases them. They all agree that it seems like the "old" Frank is back again. Karen is glad that they weaned Frank off the DL56; Joe hopes that Frank hasn't had any permanent changes, but Karen thinks it's too soon to say that. At the hospital, Frank and Chris meet in a stairwell. Chris reminds him that he has a full set of tests coming up to see how the drug is affecting him. Chris hands over the drug and leaves; Frank shoots up. The door to the stairwell opens, and Courtney is there. She wonders what Frank is doing lurking there. He says he was waiting for Courtney. He taunts her about the "performance" she put on for Joe and Karen. She claims it was sincere - he says that a really good actress believes what she says. On the bright side, he tells her, she's always got Frank. He kisses her - she pulls back and slaps him. Back at the hospital, Joe and Karen are still snuggling and Julie is still excited about their engagement. Frank comes up and says he's going to see that Julie gets what she deserves. Instead of doing that, he kisses Julie. -------------------- by Rika, Thursday updater
