From: rika1@mindspring.com (Rika) Subject: PC: Update, 8/6/98 Date: Sun, 16 Aug 1998 22:09:08 GMT X-Server-Date: 16 Aug 1998 22:07:31 GMT PORT CHARLES UPDATE Thursday, August 6, 1998 A MESSAGE FROM THE KILLER ------------------------- Kevin arrives home from the PCPD. He stands alone in the silent room, looking around, and then notices the light on his answering machine. He checks the message - it's from the killer. The killer heard Kevin on the radio, but couldn't call in because the police were following. The killer considers Kevin a worthy adversary, but is disappointed that Kevin continually underestimates him/her. Kevin calls Garcia immediately. They meet at the PCPD and listen to the message tape. Garcia arranges for Victor's release. Victor remarks that "being arrested isn't half as much fun without Lucy." Victor is elated to learn that he can go home; Garcia advises Victor to leave the legwork to the police. Victor would be delighted to do that, if the police would do their job. Garcia points out that at least Victor was safe from the killer in jail; Victor figures he'd rather take his chances with the killer. Kevin drags Victor out of the station before Garcia can change his mind. MEANWHILE, AT THE HOSPITAL.... ------------------------------ Ellen, who was looking for Chris on yesterday's show (trying to find out if Chris could have called the radio station - and thus could be the killer), finally finds him. She asks why he didn't answer his page; he claims he didn't receive a page. He suggests that Ellen dialed the wrong number. Mike is in Matt's hospital room; he is very upset about what happened to Matt. Mike mentions Victor's arrest; Matt comments, "The guy is a few fries short of a Happy Meal, but he's no killer." Matt thinks it's Chris or Frank. Mike thinks Matt needs some rest, and suggests that Matt go up to a cabin at Pleasure Point owned by a friend of Mike's. While he's gone, Matt can try to find out who tried to electrocute Matt. Ellen arrives and tells the guys about her conversation with Chris. Ellen wants to "wipe that smug grin" off Chris's face. Mike thinks Ellen needs some R&R too; Matt suggests that Ellen accompany him up to Pleasure Point. Mike offers to put the key and the directions to the cabin in Ellen's mailbox. Out at the nurses' station, Lucy is thanking a hospital volunteer for working on the Nurses' Ball. Eve walks over and begins to snipe at Lucy. She taunts Lucy about a tan line where her engagement ring used to be. Lucy responds with a snipe about Eve's past as a prostitute. Eve smugly suggests that, now that Lucy is out of the way, Kevin and Eve can continue their affair "where they left off." Lucy tells Eve to stop lying about Kevin; Eve reminds Lucy that she would be married to Kevin if it hadn't been for her own lies. Lucy insists that the wedding isn't cancelled, just postponed. She and Kevin love each other very much; Eve probably doesn't understand that kind of love. Eve retorts that she "took care of" Kevin while Lucy was "off playing house with Rex." Eve insists that she saved Kevin by telling him the truth about Lucy; Lucy replies that Eve hurt Kevin by taking away something he cared about, so she should stop pretending to be Kevin's friend. Mike catches up with Frank, who is flirting with a nurse. Mike asks Frank about his new friendship with Chris Ramsey. He mentions Matt's suspicion that Chris has to do with the murders. He brings the conversation around to Frank's whereabouts at the time the killer called; Frank says he was working. Mike takes the key and directions to the cabin and by mistake puts them into Eve's mailbox (which is next to Ellen's). Kevin arrives at the nurses' station, looking for Matt's room. Eve tells Kevin the room number. She asks Kevin how he is doing. Kevin responds sarcastically, "Dandy! How are you?" Eve acknowledges that she "might have picked the wrong time" to tell Kevin about Lucy, but she thought he needed to know. Kevin isn't impressed; he points out that she did it when they were standing at the altar. Eve wanted a spectacle to humiliate Lucy, and she got one. Eve reminds him that she tried to tell him about Lucy before, but he wouldn't listen. Kevin interrupts her with a question - how long before the wedding did Eve have proof of what Lucy did? Couldn't she have come to Kevin *before* he was in the church to get married? Eve doesn't have an answer. Kevin continues: Eve did it the way she did it because she wanted to - because it was the way to have maximum effect on Lucy. And Eve loved it. Eve wonders, if she was so wrong, why Kevin didn't go through with the wedding. He couldn't, he explains, after seeing the photos. Eve reminds Kevin that Lucy crucified her about the accident, even though Lucy knew her own role in it. Eve apologizes for her role in hurting Kevin, but not for telling "everyone" the truth about Lucy. Kevin: "I guess we all have a way to justify our reasons. Excuse me." He brushes past Eve. She stops him, asking about Victor. When she hears of Victor's release, Eve touches Kevin's arm - just in time for Lucy to walk up and see them together. Kevin visits Matt; he tells Matt and Ellen that his father has been released. Kevin apologizes to Matt for the fact that an idea from his book was used against Matt. Matt has to leave - he's going to Pediatrics to read to the kids. After he leaves, Ellen tells Kevin that he has always been there for her. If he needs someone to talk to now, about what happened at the wedding, she'll be happy to listen. Kevin explains why he broke off the wedding, closing with the oh-so-dead-on comment, "Lucy creates her own desperation - that's part of her life." Kevin admits that he misses Lucy - it's like an open wound that won't heal. Ellen talks about her own loss, when Sam died. This is different - Lucy is still alive. All Kevin has to do is call her. Kevin says he can't do that to himself. Ellen recognizes that there is a line Kevin can't cross while keeping his self-respect. But Ellen tried to shut out someone special once, and now she regrets those missed moments. Kevin shakes his head - as much as he misses his life with Lucy, he can't go back. Meanwhile, Lucy is looking for Kevin. She tells herself that Kevin needs her, and she will *not* let Eve take advantage of him. She notices something in Eve's mail slot, and decides to check it out. She finds the key and directions to Pleasure Point, left there by mistake by Mike. Matt comes back from pediatrics - he had a wheelchair race with some of the kids there. (Neil threw a milk carton under Matt's wheel to slow him down. Way to go, Neil!) Some kissing ensues, and then they discuss their upcoming trip to Pleasure Point. Matt explains that there's no phone. They should leave their cell phones and beepers behind. Ellen can't deal with leaving her cell phone - what if they need pizza delivery? Matt laughs at this, but Ellen laughingly insists that she has to take her cell phone. For one thing, she wants to be available for Kevin if he needs to talk to her. AND BACK AT THE LIGHTHOUSE.... ------------------------------ Garcia arrives at the lighthouse. Victor worries that Garcia is there to arrest him again; Kevin explains that he invited Garcia. He has a plan. He wants to go back on the radio to lure the killer to call again. Garcia can put an obvious tail on every suspect during the show, so the suspect won't be able to call. Meanwhile, they'll be prepared to trace calls from Kevin's home phone, figuring the killer will probably call there after the show. Victor loves the idea: "I have a score to settle!" Garcia tells Victor to stay home this time, and Kevin seconds that motion. Garcia likes the idea - the killer may be cocky enough to make a mistake. Just after Garcia leaves, the phone rings. Both Kevin and Victor freeze in alarm - is it the killer? Victor sets up the tracing equipment, and then Kevin answers. It's Ellen, letting him know that she's going out of town. If he needs to reach her, he can call on her cell phone. She tells him she'll be at Pleasure Point, and for some reason Kevin writes this down on a piece of paper. Kevin tells her to have a wonderful time; he wouldn't dream of intruding on their vacation. A bit later, Lucy arrives at the lighthouse. She is thrilled to see that Victor has been released. Victor explains that Kevin is upstairs taking a shower. Victor misses Lucy - things aren't the same without her. Lucy came to pick up some more of her things. Victor mischievously suggests that Lucy go upstairs, where Kevin is taking his shower, and say 'hello.' Victor wants to get champagne to celebrate Lucy's visit; she admits that it's good to be "home" - but she corrects herself, "here." After Victor heads to the kitchen, she picks Kevin's jacket up and rubs the fabric against her cheek. She walks over to the couch, touching the sofa cushions and pillows - until she notices the pad with "Pleasure Point" written on it. Since she found the map to Pleasure Point in Eve's mailbox, she thinks Kevin and Eve are going there together. She vows to put a stop to that. -------------------- by Rika, Thursday updater
