Daily Update for August 27, 1998
By: Jcsmom
The episode starts with Lee telling Julie that Lark's mom has died. "Don't you think that's a bit convenient?" Julie sniffs, before she freaks out, adding that Suzanne's testifying had been the only thing that could save her. Lee calms her down by telling her that this could be a good thing, because if the autopsy showed that Suzanne had been murdered, Julie would be off the hook-- because she couldn't possibly be the killer.
Kevin starts to panic when he realizes that Victor isn't faking his condition anymore. He's REALLY catatonic. "My father's a target!" he shouts to Dr. Aikman, before spilling the beans about Victor's undercover work to find the killer. Aikman doesn't buy it, and turns down Kevin's request to take Victor home. He does promise to check the story out with Garcia. All of a sudden, we see a meds tray with a gloved hand switching Victor's medications back.
Lucy runs into Ellen at the Nurses' Station. After she tells Ellen that she's there to "talk about the new moi", Ellen smiles and says "The new vous does seem happy!" Lucy tells her about her trip to Dominique's grave, and how she promised Dominique that she would try to be a better person: meaning that she must apologize to Eve for accusing her of being the killer. Ellen senses that Lucy really doesn't want to do this and says "if it's not coming from your heart, you might as well not do it". Lucy nods and admits that her new friend is right.
Back to the Mental Hospital. Lark is telling Frank that there is no way that she was visiting Greg Cooper, and swears up and down that her name in the log book was forged. An orderly comes in and Frank asks him if he knows Lark Madison. The orderly describes a woman who looks nothing like Lark---but is a dead ringer for Eve!!He says he even asked her out, but the woman told him to take a hike (sounds even more like Eve!!!) He tells Frank that there's no way that Lark (standing right there) resembles the bogus Lark. Frank and Lark both realize that the woman the orderly described sounds like Eve.
Lucy's ready to eat humble pie and waits for Eve to respond to her page; but keeps getting interupted when she starts to apologize to her enemy. Eve's on a roll: she gets an offer to assist on an operation with a famous surgeon, is thanked by a patient's parent and even gets a message confirming a playdate with Serena. (I'm sure Lucy loved THAT one!!!) Lucy chickens out when she finally gets Eve alone and makes up a story about videos of her performances from the Nurses Ball being available.
Meanwhile, back on the funny farm, Kevin is beating his head against the proverbial brick wall trying to convince Dr. Aikman that Greg Cooper is still dangerous. Cooper has shown no signs of violence and poses no threats to the other patients, Aikman contends. "He's the ultimate con artist!", Doc insists. Aikman says that he did check him out with Garcia, but implies that maybe Doc is the one with a few screws loose. "Ask away, it won't be the first time!" Doc says when Aikman questions whether his own sanity should be checked.
Frank is surprised when Julie scoffs when he says that Lark is not taking Suzanne's death well and tells her about the possibility of Eve being the killer. She perks up and decides to change strategies.
Eve is toasting the end of a perfect day with Chris in his apartment. "The only thing this day is missing is Scott", she sighs. Chris blows off that remark, but adds to the good news when he tells her about Julie's defense strategy of fingering Lark as the killer--meaning that they're both out of the woods. They share martinis and think about their future as doctors.
Back to the Mental Hospital. Kevin is feeding Victor (POOR Victor!!!) when Doctor Aikman comes in with Suzanne's autopsy report; showing that she died of a heart attack. The only drugs in her system were those that she was on for her mental condition. Since there's no threat of murder, Victor will be safe. Even so, Kevin's not leaving--and is thrown out by security. After 3 neanderthals in white show Doc the door, a nurse prepares to wheel Victor back to his room--and finds his meds on a med tray. "If Dr. Aikman saw these meds out, he'd fire everyone!" she states--and adds that it's time for Victor's next dose.
Eve and Chris are feeling no pain after drinking martinis. They remember the last time they drank together (around Christmas) and top it off by throwing their glasses in the fireplace; when Lucy appears at the door. She's getting up her courage to knock on the door (remember, she's going to apologize to Eve!) when she hears Eve and Chris saying that their alibi for the Devlin murder was phony--and Scott is the only other person who knows that. "I KNEW I was right!!!!!" Lucy says to herself; saying bye-bye to all thoughts of eating crow. Watch out Eve!!!!!!
