From: mtczajka@aol.com (MTCzajka) Subject: PC: Thursday 10/15 update Date: 16 Oct 1998 05:06:01 GMT Frank runs out to check the street for Neil and John, while Courtney calls the police. An officer arrives and Courtney fills her in on the situation. Just then Neil and John nonchalantly arrive. John claims he told them he was leaving. Neil thinks she mustn't have heard him. Neil gets sent to his room so the adults can handle things. John says they went out to get Courtney's favourite flowers, which he has in his hand. The officer tells him to improve his communication skills and leaves. Frank snipes vainly at John. Courtney's threats don't affect him either. Neil calls to him - John tells the duo that wild horses couldn't keep him away from his son. He goes up to Neil. Frank and Courtney bitch about John. Courtney admits it was a mistake to dump Joe for John. She was swayed by his money and charm. Frank asks why they broke up, but Courtney doesn't want to tell - just then John comes down and tells her to go ahead and enlighten Frank. She doesn't want to. He tells her confession is good for the soul. He admits he wanted the divorce and that it was a mistake. She wants to know where he was when Neil was sick. He claims that he didn't want to make her life more complicated. He tells her not to give up on them and to tell Neil he'll see him soon and leaves. Scott is in Serena's hospital room joking with her about Lucy and alligators. Lee comes in and takes Scott outside. He tells Scott that Eve will be called to testify and so will Scott in Julie's trial. He asks that he think of Serena before he perjures himself to cover for Eve and walks off. Scott goes back to Serena's room and Karen and Joe come in with some odd CD that Serena wanted. She's sleepy and wants to listen to her new CD. She drifts off and the adults go into the hallway (where I hear my doctor being paged in the back- ground!!) Scott tells them about testifying. They think there is enough evidence against Eve to throw doubt on Julie without Scott's testimony. They worry ominously about The Killer still being free - Karen hopes TK gets careless and caught - Joe doesn't think that'll happen, TK is too smart. Scott just wants it all over. Karen thinks Lee must understand how difficult it would be for Scott to testify. Scott thinks being a good lawyer will take precedence over Lee's personal feelings. Eve is panicking over her upcoming testimony while Chris urges her to keep up with their phony alibi. She worries that people will know they are lying, but he is unconcerned - no one can prove they are. She doesn't want to spend any more time in jail for perjury, he tells her it's better than spending time for murder. Eve plaintively says she didn't kill anyone - Chris doesn't think that matters. In the courtroom, Lee questions Chris about his relationship to Eve and where Eve was when she disappeared instead of testifying. He tells about looking for her and checking her room. He tells the court about finding the shrine behind a loose panel but opines that Eve didn't know it was there. Lee tells him to stick to facts. He asks what all was in the cachet (yes - he said cachet). Chris tells him about the pictures and personal items he found and how he tried to get rid of the stuff. He denies trying to cover for Eve, claiming he was just unnerved by the stuff. Lee says he was trying to destroy evidence that Eve was a murderer, the prosecution objects. Lee withdraws the statement and adds "We know that's what you did" - prosecution objects again. The judge agrees and narrows his eyes at Lee who calls for a 5 minute break. Julie smirks and Lee slaps her. (Okay, he didn't but I was hoping!) Lee confronts Chris in the hall with some advice - if Chris stands by his lie, he'll go to jail for Perjury. Chris denies it's a lie. Lee tells him not to go down with that sinking ship. Back inside, Lee asks where he was when Bennett bit the dust. Chris tells the story about them being together in the on-call room. Scott comes to visit Eve and gives her a very brief rundown of his adventures, minus the part about having sex with Lucy. Eve asks after Serena and apologizes for being the cause of his flying off. He says none of it was her fault. Eve starts by being subtle and talking about Lucy going with, then comes right out and tells him she heard they slept together. She tells him it's really none of her business. He wants to explain, but she says it's not the time. She tells him about the rope fibers in her suitcase - he says either she's being set up or is a very sloppy killer. She says the next victim will have a tag "Hi! Eve killed me!" on it. Scott asks what she is going to say - she's going with Chris' story, no one can break it if Chris doesn't. Scott doesn't think that's necessarily true. He tells her that while Lee might seem like a nice old grandfather, but he's a cut-throat shark in the courtroom.
