Port Charles Update for Thursday, 3-Dec-1998

HI all! Here's the update for today, along with insightful comments from the peanut gallery, namely yours truly!
Chris and Frank enter the lab. Frank is anxious for his fix of DL56. He comments that the lab rats look ok from Chris' new & improved version of the drug -- no extra ears or anything! Chris is shocked (not really) that Frank would think he would do that to him. Frank replies: "For a buck? You bet." (Now, now Frankie I think you're exaggerating a bit -- for TWO bucks, MAYBE, but not just one!) Frank hopes the drug works, cause he needs to focus on getting his homicidal maniac girlfriend out of jail. Chris replies it's a miracle drug, not a miracle (LMAO!). He injects the drug into Frank.
In the Scanlon kitchen, Mary and Neil (aka Mr. big) are making pancakes -- Mary drops the eggs. Neil helps clean the mess, when Joe and Courtney-monster come in. Neil tries to take the blame for the eggs being on the floor (sweet kid!), but Mary stops him.
Back in the lab -- Chris asks how Frank is feeling. Franks says he has a low tolerance for jerks (LMAO!). Frank leaves -- Eve comes in, asks if Chris is building a new girlfriend in there (don't give him any ideas Eve -- it's already been over a year since he got some, he just may try it!). Eve whines about Scott, and how Lucy is still gonna live with Scott even though the killer is caught. And apparantly Eve lost a bet because of this -- she has to pay $5 to Chris. She also has to buy him breakfast. She leaves to do just that.
Julie, meanwhile is rotting in jail having a psychotic moment. She has flashbacks about Greg, and how she's supposed to go along with whatever people say if she's found out. Frank comes in. Julie gives him this whole (fake, IMHO) song and dance about how Cooper threatened to kill her if she didn't do what he said, she was scared of him, blah, blah, blah. Tell it to the judge, honey! I don't buy it!
Back to the lab -- Chris spouts some medical jargon about the DL56 test results into his tape recorder that I won't even attempt to repeat or comprehend. Eve comes in with breakfast. She's still whining about Scott. Chris tells her he's run out of sympathy for her, that she's being pathetic and to get over it (which she is -- GO Chris!). Then Eve brings up Julie, and states what a smarty Victor is -- he never bought her innocent act, why didn't anyone listen to him? She also wonders if Julie really WAS brainwashed! Maybe she was a killer BEFORE Cooper got to her -- perhaps her brother Buddy didn't kill himself after all! (Hafta say I'm with Eve here -- nice to see she's actually saying smart things this time around!) Chris asks Eve to let him do a throat culture for his experiment -- Eve is sick and he wants to use the virus to test his new drug (aka DL56).
Back at the Scanlons, Neil wants to stay home and help Mary. Actually, he just doesn't want to go to school cause its grandparents day and he has nobody to take. Courtney says she'd go; Neil says he's look pathetic with her (Don't worry Neil -- everybody looks pathetic with your mom! Hey, if you REALLY want pathetic, ask Eve to go with you -- what a pair you'd make!). He asks Mary to go; she agrees. They go upstairs to get ready. Joe & Courtney remain in the kitchen & reminisce.
Back in jail, the pity party continues. Julie wants Frank to help her break out of prison. Frank is stunned!
Back at the lab, Chris puts the contaminated vial of DL56 in the lab cooler. He wants to put extra warning labels on it; Eve says why bother, who'd touch a contaminated vial? Which clearly means that someone will . . . . .
Back at the Scanlons, Mary & Neil are just about to leave when grandma & grandpa Kanelos show up at the door . . . .
Back in jail, Julie wants to run away to Switzerland with Frank -- hey, maybe they can start their own traveling freak show! Just kidding! Frank thinks she's nuts (well, she IS!!!). She's not just doing this for the two of them, she says . . . . . Julie tells Frank that she's pregnant! (Frankie, if you believe THAT, I've got some magic beans to sell you -- they'll build a giant beanstalk that will grow and grow and become a ladder to another dimension, where you can house the endless numbers of folks that parade in and out of Hotel Scanlon. Oh, and they're DL56 laced too -- that oughta get your attention!)
That's all the news I have, folks! See you next Thursday, for another one of my insightful looks at life in PC-land!
