Port Charles Update for Thursday, 7-Jan-1999

What a combination: withdrawal, espionage and Gilligan's Island! Here's what happened today.
Karen is working at the nurses station when Frank comes in hanging his head. He tells her that even after everything that's happened in the last couple of days with Cooper, he's stayed clean and even gives Karen back the bottle of diazapan he ripped off from her. Karen is nothing but supportive, and their thoughts turn to Joe and Courtney.
Back on Gilligan's Island. Joe and Courtney are trying to make their raft float (wasn't that a plot-line on about 300 episodes?) and are getting nowhere fast. Courtney gets frustrated and realizes that the longer it takes to get off the island, the harder it will be to get Neil.
Victor and Mary are still locked on the truck and Victor is growing worried that the driver isn't their old friend Gunther. He's right to be concerned: the driver is his arch-enemy Schatzi!! They cook up a scheme to pipe Nitrous Oxide into the cab, so that they can get control of the truck; but things backfire and Victor and Mary get a good whiff and things go from bad to worse!! Schatzi pulls a gun on them and he's also stoned on the gas. Mary shows him a picture of Neil and he shows her a picture of his grand daughter (shades of Get Smart??) and the love fest really gets going when Shatz says that the only person he hates more than Victor is Costa Kanelos and he's in.
Courtney finds vinyl (in the lagoon??? Skipper!!!! come back from GI!!) and Joe decides it's just the thing to patch up their leaks. They're in business: the raft floats!! They decide to have 1 last good meal for the road and Joe almost kisses her, and pulls back at the last moment.
Frank and Karen are really starting to worry about Joe and Frank and Karen debates calling the Kaneloses in Greece. She says no, because she was the stupid ___ who tipped off John Kanelos in the first place; but of course old Dr Einstein decides to do it anyway. She gets absolutely nowhere. (Big Suprise!!!)Frank tells Karen that Cooper is at the PCPD Jail getting evaluated and hopefully they keep him there this time. Maybe they could put him in the same cell with that guy in the hockey mask from Silence of the Lambs??
