Today is my first ever update. I hope that everyone enjoys it. I know it is a little wordy, but with experience I’ll do better. My comments are strictly my opinion and are meant as no offense to any character or fan of that character.
Today on Port Charles
WILL THE REAL KEVIN COLLINS PLEASE STAND UP
That’s right folks the real Kevin Collins finally showed up. But more on that later. Now, on with the update.
Fate is the theme for today’s episode (because God forbid TPTB not have some kind of gimmick to lead them through 22 minutes of story).
The show opens with the completely unrealistic release, of a not long ago on death’s door Eve, being released from the hospital (Dr. Boardman – I hope you have a good lawyer because this has lawsuit written all over it). I’m guessing that the writers don’t want Eve in the hospital too long for fear that someone from the GH side of town might also need to be hospitalized. We wouldn’t want anybody bumping into each other, now would we?
Kevin is relieved to find out that Eve does not recall what he told her about falling in love, as we are subjected to our first flashback (might I remind you again that the show is only 22 minutes long). Eve and Kevin leave the hospital so Eve can rest up after her trip to, um, heaven (the topic of where Eve belongs has been covered enough in chat, so add your own Eve should go to (blank) joke here). The distress on Kevin’s face is our first sign of hope that the real Kevin might actually make an appearance.
Lucy is on the phone with Scott discussing business as Ellen enters. Ellen informs Lucy about her encounter with the “Duke”. Lucy and her magical powers inform Ellen that her fate is being realized (the more we talk about this dress, I realize that it is my fate that has been realized, and it isn’t a good one). Lucy wants to know if Ellen and Sebastian recognized each other. Ellen makes the mistake of telling Lucy that they had dinner together and that she didn’t tell him who she was. Lucy is convinced that Ellen still has feelings for the “Duke” (finally after five minutes of this conversation somebody decides to mention Matt). In yet another twist of fate, Sebastian goes to the hospital looking for Ellen. But who does he ask if she is around, that’s right you guessed it, Matt (Dagwood has more complicated storytelling then PC).
Yeah, a Chris scene. Eve and Kevin return to Chris’ apartment so Eve can rest. Ever the narcissist, Eve yells “Guess what happened to me”. Kevin looks like a third wheel with these two and quickly makes an escape after a very Hello Newman, Hello Jerry, exchange with Chris (these two definitely need more scenes together, the looks on these two guys faces was perfect).
As usual Eve is clueless to Chris’ feelings for her, and pours out her heart about Kevin. As Eve recalls her, lets call it down-time since that is probably a phrase she is familiar with, we get the line of the day “What about the boyfriend du jour," Chris asks. We are then forced to sit through our second flashback (of the same exact scene no less) in nine minutes. Eve realizes that Kevin said he is falling for her.
More dress stuff from Lucy. Ellen calls her to the carpet and explains that she is happy with Matt and that Lucy is only rationalizing her life with Scott by using the dress (clearly implying that Lucy feels a need to justify why she is with Scott instead of Kevin).
Eve questions Chris about Courtney. Chris explains that nothing happened (too bad it wasn’t Val with Chris, maybe our hero would have finally gotten some action). Writers note: Nolan North says more with his facial expressions then with the poor lines he is given to deliver. Eve jumps right back to talking about herself. “Is it so hard to believe that someone could fall for you,” Chris asks. My heart aches for him, as I know (of course Eve has no clue) that he is talking about himself. Chris explains that Kevin is probably confused also. Eve runs off to the Lighthouse.
BIG MOMENT – KEVIN COLLINS RETURNS (I hope it lasts)
Kevin admits to only dating Eve as a diversion from Lucy. “I believed that deep down that Lucy is the only woman that I would ever really love,” Kevin tells Victor (who has always known that). Kevin does say that he has grown into some feeling for Eve (which is perfectly reasonable) but he feels disloyal to Lucy because he has these feelings.
Ellen kisses Matt hello. He knows she has something to say and admits to seeing the “Duke” after Matt tells her of the visit from the handsome stranger. The elevator door opens and there is Sebastian. He admits that he knows she is the lady of the moon. Ellen informs her that she is happily involved and introduces Sebastian to Matt. Sebastian announces he has taken a job in PC and will be staying around for awhile and invites the happy couple to lunch.
Eve shoots Victor with a laser tag gun (eewwww – race car bed thoughts float through my head). Victory tries to cover the fact that Kevin is not home (for a man who lived half is life as a spy, he is a terrible liar). Eve is hurt when Victor tells her that Kevin has gone to see Lucy. Lucy is on the phone with Scott as fate intervenes for the final time today. A ring of the doorbell and in walks Kevin.
End of episode.
