Port Charles Update for Thursday, 4-Mar-1999

No flashbacks, no flashbacks, no flashbacks. Oh. Hey, I’m sorry, has the update started? I was just talking to myself. Well, let’s get started.

Lucy is off to meet the infamous D.V. while Scott tries a last ditch effort to find a manufacturer for you know what. I refuse to talk about the dress – from now on to be referred to as the GDD – for those of you familiar with the GDQ you know what GDD means.

Frank meets with a P.I. He wants the guy to look for Julie’s money in bank accounts under the name of Marcia Cooper. You know what. Maybe the Dl-56 actually made Frank smarter, because this isn’t a half-bad idea. In walks Pinky (or is MWD the Brain, I can never be sure). She and Frank recap their plan for the audience (because after weeks TIIC must assume that we still don’t get it).

In a tried but true plot device we have a scene at Karen’s apartment foreshadowing the events to come. Karen is a neat freak. Joe is a slob. Ding, Ding. Karen answers the door. Garcia arrives to announce his second smart decision of the week (did this guy sneak off and get re-trained while he was off screen). Alex announces he is going to ask Julie if she planted the bugs (I may not have a policeman’s eye, but it is obvious to me that Joe and Alex must go to the same barber). Joe is off to the gym and Karen is going to have lunch with Scott.

Lucy meets up with Ellen at GH. (See Tammy I knew you would jinx it last night, I know she wasn’t there for medical reasons, but still it was a hospital appearance). I am starting to buy this crystal ball thing. I have always accepted Lucy’s kooky psychic ability in the past when it involved Kevin, so why not now. More talk about the GDD. Quick Sebastian update (BTW we haven’t seen him at all this week. I like this guy – Hey you, IIC, yeah you, more airtime for Sebastian please!).

Line of the week (IMHO). Frank tells Courtney that she never confuses sex with love (this from a man who once double dipped with Julie and Courtney – hey, two updates, two Seinfeld references). Courtney replies, “A mistake that 99% of women make, I however don’t happen to be one of them.” Truer words have never been spoken. Frank hatches (and with his bird brain hatch is the right word) phase two of his plan. Make Karen think that Joe is sneaking around on her. Off they go to Karen’s apartment to set up Joe.

D.V. awaits Lucy’s arrival (why is this guy in Alexis Davis’ room? ). Lucy turns down D.V.’s offer. Why is Lucy acting so inexperienced with this guy? She has run one of the biggest cosmetic companies in the world for years. This guy should not intimidate her. D.V. offers to make some calls to find Lucy a manufacturing plant. Lucy accepts.

More foreshadowing (can LML get through one 22-minute episode without some kind of plot device driving the story – rhetorical question, don’t answer). Karen tells Scott that she is neat and Joe is a slob. Who cares? I’m just thankful that we actually see father and daughter bonding. Not to mention that JH and KS work pretty well together. Karen recalls her feelings as a child about her father and how she felt when she thought Scott had died. We can see the sparkle in Scotty’s eye when Karen announces she will not put up with any of Courtney’s antics. You go Karen. Scotty is touched and honored when Karen asks him to give her away at her upcoming wedding.

Alex visits Julie to ask about the bugs (the one’s in Karen’s house, not the ones flying around in Julie’s head). Julie freaks out (cause asking about a listening device is much worse then being asked about the five people you killed, you wacko).

F&C arrive at Karen’s. They call a 900 number and use some glasses to give the impression that someone was in the house and made a mess. Courtney is actually pretty funny on the phone. For the record I just want to state how much I am enjoying these two. They have definitely found their niche.

Scott tells Lucy about lunch. Lucy (BTW what’s with the Cleopatra hair-do). Lucy doesn’t tell Scott she accepted D.V.’s offer of help.

Karen tells Joe about lunch with Scotty. She actually mentions Jagger (he is after all only her ex-husband). Joe mentions Lucy and Kevin’s wedding and I am sad. Karen notices a little mess and asks Joe if he went to the gym. He says yes.

Franks gets a call from the P.I. informing him that Marcia Cooper does indeed have bank accounts.
