Port Charles Update for Friday, 19-Mar-1999

At good ole GH, Matt asked Ellen if she wanted to grab a bite to eat. She reminded him that she was going to dinner with Sebastian. Matt's not comfortable with the situation. He asks Ellen if she would've agreed to have dinner with Sebastian if he weren't dying. She says no.
At Casa de Scanlon, Frank offers to help Karen with the dishes. She says she's going to get Joe to help her. Frank tells Karen not to count on Joe to get dishpan hands. He won't even clean up after himself. Karen takes her engagement ring off & lays it beside the sink. Courtney observes this, & tells Karen that Scott & Lucy are leaving. Karen goes to tell them goodnight, & Courtney & Frank comment on how upset Mary & Joe would be if something happened to Mary's mother's ring. Courtney puts the ring in her pocket. Eve gets Sebastian's old x-rays from his doctor in New Orleans. The dissection in his aorta is much larger now than it was then. Eve & Matt agree that Sebastian is a walking time bomb. Mario's has re-opened!! Mario's family re-opened in tribute to him. Lark is Ellen & Sebastian's waitress. Ellen is really nervous, & chatters on & on about Matt. Sebastian takes her hand & tells her he's not pressuring her. Courtney tells Karen they make a great team. Karen tells her they're not a team, they're just doing dishes. Courtney tells Karen to drain the sink. She'll wash, & Karen can dry. After draining the sink, Karen starts looking for her ring. Victor & Mary dance around the kitchen, talking about true love. When they leave the kitchen, Karen searches frantically for her ring. Courtney tells her she doesn't remember seeing Karen take the ring off.
Eve & Matt share a dinner of sandwiches & orange juice. Matt tells Eve how uncomfortable he is about Sebastian & Ellen. Eve tells Matt that Sebastian is a terrific guy, who just wants to get to know Ellen. Matt says "I don't care how sick Sebastian is, if he even thinks about going after Ellen, his bad heart's gonna be the *least* of his problems."(I'll refrain from making a snarky comment here. I don't wanna get hate mail) Ellen reminisces a little about Sam. Sebastian never married because he's never found anyone who affected him like Ellen. (yeah, right - They spent *how much* time together, *10* years ago?) Courtney tells Karen that her engagement ring is probably halfway out to sea by now. Frank walks in & they tell him about the ring. He acts appropriately mortified. "Grandmother's ring? Mom's gonna flip." Courtney, being the kind, thoughtful soul that she is, offers to get Karen a pair of rubber cleaning gloves, so Mary won't notice the ring right away. Victor tells Joe that as the fiance of the mother of the groom-to-be, he wants to help with the rehearsal dinner. He asks Joe where he'd like to have it. Joe thinks maybe Johnny La-La's would be a good place. Courtney walks into the kitchen with the gloves, right behind Joe, Victor, & Mary. Karen confesses she lost the ring.
Frank takes the drain apart. No ring. Karen apologizes, but Mary is furious. She tells Vic to take her home. Eve talks Matt into eating....ohmigosh, a twinkie!! They chat about how they both want stability,which neither had growing up, & a white picket fence. Eve thinks that her's & Kevin's will be painted red. (Oh, I'm so sure. Eve & Kevin w/a house & a picket fence of *any* color? Right.) Matt says he knows that Ellen wants the same thing he wants. Sebastian tells Ellen that he doesn't have time to play it safe. Is she daring enough to get to know a dying man? Joe tells Karen some movie plot about...well, to be honest, I think I dozed off through this part, but the moral of Joe's story is "Everybody loses stuff down the drain. It could happen to anyone." Yeah, right, Joe.
