Port Charles Update for Friday, 18-Jun-1999

The day of the Nurses' Ball has arrived, but we start off with Julie having a nightmare: Chris visits her to tell her that Christina is missing. She wakes up and screams that she needs to see Kevin. Julie cuddles with a pink blanket and vows that if she can't talk to Chris, she'll tell Kevin about the baby.

Janelle calls Chris. She wants to see him. He cuts her short. She goes to his apartment and gives him the baby. She tells him his week is up. Chris offers her $500 if she'll keep the baby one more night. He has to perform at the Nurses' Ball. Janelle accepts but tells him that her boyfriend is back in town. Chris goes off and Janelle tells Baby Christina that if she has to, she'll find someone to care for her herself.

Scott and Lucy go into a dressing room. The lights they try are not working. Lucy trips and falls. Scott bangs his knee into a table. Lucy breaks a mirror and gets her hair caught in a hanger. They find lights that work. Scott refuses to believe they'll have 7 years of bad luck. Serena, Neil, Victor and Mary come in. Victor and Serena do a little of their dance. Victor congratulates Lucy and Scott about the upcoming adoption and they look uneasy. They tell Serena it may not be soon but Serena is still excited - this gives her more time to pick out a name. When they are alone, Lucy expresses her concern over their chances of adopting. She thinks the day with the caseworker was a disaster. They came off looking like criminals. Lucy is alone and getting frantic over her gowns. There's a knock at the door. Lucy hopes it's Amy. It's Ellen. (wow - twice in one week) Lucy tries to convince Ellen to help her but Ellen is helping Lila sell raffle tickets. When Lucy finds a DV dress among her gowns, she becomes very upset. Ellen doesn't understand why Lucy didn't bring DV up on kidnapping charges. Lucy has a flashback to DV threatening to tell Scott things that Lucy wants kept secret. Ellen can tell by the look on Lucy's face what the reason is, but Lucy denies anything happened between her and DV.

At the lighthouse, Kevin is ready to go to the Ball, but he tells Eve that he received a call from Julie's doctor and he thinks he should go to Ferncliff. Eve, with a hairdo that defies description, is disappointed but understands. At Ferncliff, Julie tells Kevin that she wants her phone privileges restored. Kevin tells her that Lee has arranged that. She tells Kevin that she overheard guards saying that she was going to be transferred to a maximum security prison. Kevin promises he'll look into it. When the door opens, Julie sees Eve there all dressed up and asks if she's going to the Nurses' Ball and wishes she could go. Eve asks why...to kill another one of her friends? When Eve and Kevin are alone, Keven tells Eve that Julie thinks she is innocent of the murders.

Karen is Frank's date. Joe, who is with Courtney, comments that they are together a lot. Karen asks about Neil. She wants to be there when he has his procedure.

Scott and Serena are talking about her number when DV interrupts, asking if Serena will be dancing. Serena says he's the man who told lies about her father. DV suggests that Serena ask Scott how many times he's been in jail. Karen and Frank come along and take Serena away, but not before Karen gives DV the evil eye. Scott gets hot under the collar and pushes DV twice. DV pushes back. DV tells Scott that he knows that Karen and Joe broke up and he recites Karen's address. Kevin breaks them up and wisecracks that DV is the life of the party. DV says Kevin is "with" the life of the party. (Eve) Scott is annoyed that Kevin broke up Scott and DV. Kevin reminds him that he could have landed back in jail again and Eve is worried about what would happen if Serena saw Scott arrested again. Eve is afraid that Lucy will slip and say something in front of DV about her having DV's baby. Scott gets a call on his cell phone and goes to Lucy's dressing room. She is getting more and more frantic. She desperately needs Amy. They start to talk about the adoption. Scott puts on a long face and says he heard about the decision already. Lucy goes on and on about all the things they did wrong and Scott keeps nodding and letting her go on. Finally, he tells her that they were approved. Lucy is moved to tears and they hug.

Eve tells Chris that Lucy is going to look like a fool tonight and asks if he's seen Katherine. Chris' cell phone rings. It's Julie. She says that something is wrong with her baby and he had better find out what NOW!
