Port Charles Update for Friday, 16-Jul-1999

Courtney tries to get Neil's mind off his treatments. He doesn't want to eat his breakfast because he's upset about missing baseball camp. He remembers how sick he was before and doesn't want to go through it again.

At the hospital, Karen congratulates Joe on a diagnosis. They exchange sweet, longing glances. Courtney calls Joe to let him know how badly Neil is doing. Joe reassures her they won't go through it alone. Karen listens and her face gets serious. Later, Neil arrives with Courtney. Joe gives him a pep talk. He receives a page and must leave. Karen takes Neil by one hand and Courtney takes his other as they bring him for his treatment. Karen smiles. Courtney doesn't. Once they are in an examination room, Neil asks Courtney to go get something from the car. Alone with Karen, they talk about what a wonderful doctor and father Joe is. He asks her if she is mad because Joe moved back with him and Courtney. She tells him that his dad belongs with him, and seems very sincere when she says it. Courtney runs into Joe on her way out to the car. He tries to lift her spirits reminding her that the three of them will get through the ordeal together. Courtney can't shake the thought that Neil might die. After the treatment, Joe gives Neil a Yankee cap. Karen wants to bring Neil to the cafeteria to show Matt the cap, (I remember Matt!) in an obvious attempt to leave Joe and Courtney alone. Joe tells Courtney that the treatment isn't going as well as they'd like. The two of them should take tests to see if either can do a bone marrow transplant if needed. (Hmmmmm.. wonder what they'll find out here.)

DV is on the phone asking if Kevin and Eve are still in Rome. He says he'll have to feed them to the lions.

Kevin and Eve are in their hotel room talking about how long they were detained by the Italian cops. Kevin and Eve are sure that the maid was there to kill them, but the police said she was a manic depressive having a bad day. They wonder what happened to Victor and how long should they wait before they tell Mary. Kevin decides he should return to Port Charles to tell Mary in person. Eve wants to stay and investigate Victor's disappearance, but Kevin insists that the whole situation has become too dangerous. She shows him the rock he gave her with the word "together" on it. She convinces him to let her stay in Rome. They both do an Austin Powers impersonation. (Kevin's is better.) Later, while boning up on their Italian, they get a phone call that the hot water is back on. While Eve is excited about taking a shower, Kevin notices a note being slipped under the door. Kevin opens the door, but nobody is there. I could not read what the note said. It looked like Piazza followed by another word. Kevin tells Eve it's a note about the water. She goes to shower, he makes a phone call, leaves her a note and exits. As soon as he leaves, someone enters the room. A gloved hand turns the light off. When Eve comes back into the darkened room, the gloved hand covers her mouth. When Kevin returns, he looks for Eve but only finds the "together" rock lying on the floor.
