Port Charles Update for Thursday, 19-Aug-1999

Rachel tells Chris that they must go see Greg Cooper right now. He is in lock-up after having another fight with an inmate. She is confident that by the end of the day they will convince him to do the "right thing" and confess to the murders. Chris isn't so sure but he knows it will look good that Julie's fiancee is trying to free her. When Rachel and Chris visit Greg, she asks him to reconsider exonerating Julie. She can get him into a psych hospital if he does. He says his answer is still no. Rachel and Chris continue to apply pressure. Chris reminds him of Pit Bull and the other inmates who may attack him in the future. Chris takes off Greg's arm restraints and says he'll tell the guards he tried to escape. Greg finally agrees to confess to the murders. When Rachel and Chris return to GH, a member of the press(who Rachel has arranged to be waiting for them), asks if it is true that he got Greg to confess to the murders. Chris says that Greg admitted that he alone committed the murders.

Scott explains to Serena why it's important for her to leave town with Lucy and Christina. She knows that DV is a bad man. Scott wants Lucy to bring Karen with her to Canada. DV asks someone on the phone if they are still outside Scott's house watching. Scott, Lucy, Serena and Christina go to the hospital to get Karen, who has no idea what's going on. A big burly guy gets off the elevator and watches them. He calls DV on his cell phone and tells him that Scott and his family have packed their bags and are at GH. Scott explains to Karen what has been happening with DV. Karen refuses to leave town. Scott warns her not to let her guard down. DV is dangerous. As Karen is hugging and kissing everyone good-bye, Joe comes along and sees that something is wrong. Scott asks him to keep an eye on Karen and watch out for DV. As Scott hugs Karen, he notices Burly Guy watching them. Scott asks Joe to distract Burly Guy while he gets everyone out of the hospital. Karen insists on helping too. Burly Guy sees Lucy and all getting on the elevator and moves quickly to follow them. Karen gets in his way and accuses him of ramming into her. She starts screaming at him and Joe decks him as Scott gets Lucy and the girls safely on the elevator. DV tells someone on the phone that he has people waiting for Scott's plane when they land in Canada. He is amazed, however, that Karen stayed in Port Charles. Joe asks Karen to move back into his house. He thinks she'll be safer there. She refuses. At the airport, Lucy and Scott say their good-byes. Scott tells her that he put a guard on Karen. After he says good-bye to Serena, he says he has a surprise for them. They are all going to Aunt Charlene's. He assumes DV probably has his men waiting for them in Canada.
