Port Charles Update for Monday, 23-Aug-1999

Karen arrives to check on how Neil is doing. Courtney pointedly remarks that it's a good thing
he didn't die from the allergic reaction. Karen insists that it isn't her handwriting in the chart. Courtney thought all doctors wrote alike. She points out that Karen is Neil's doctor, she should know how the medication change got in there. How could Karen be so careless? She screwed up - and it almost cost Neil his life!

Kevin and Eve are so thrilled to be back on Jasmine Island - Kevy's very own haunted house.
Lucky for him - Eve is the ultimate ghost chaser! Kevin notices that the lock has been broken.
Eve is fearful - what happened to the ultimate ghost chaser? She lied. That's it? She lied? Not -
she lied - in a field of clover? Just she lied? Wow, that's not generous - or caring - or joyful. I'm so confused.

Chris gives Julie the good news that Cooper has agreed to confess to the murders in exchange
for transfer to a mental hospital. Um, okay - and what about how Julie gleefully reminsced about each of the murders? Brainwashing? Oh, yeah, I'm convinced. She'll be free before she can say "Chris is a God". Julie reminds Chris that the main reason she needs to get out is to be with her baby. No one is answering at the Baldwins - check it out! Well, since she's asked so nicely, Chris will get right on it. Julie - of the unlimited phone privileges - makes another call. Garcia. Garcia!! Sorry - couldn't control my excitement. Julie wishes for a visitor.

Eve is perturbed that the police won't arrive till morning. Welcome to "island time". Kevy is
convinced that their little island visitor is connected to their Italian adventure.

Julie wants to know how Greg's confession will affect her case. Talk to your lawyer. But no,
Julie wants his opinion. Garcia isn't very believing in Greg's credibility. Julie plays the "I wanna make up" line - and digs for information on Scott and Lucy's whereabouts. Garcia
confirms that they are away. Time for Garcia to go back to work. Julie promises Christina she'll
find her.

Chris asks Karen where Scott and Lucy are - gosh they're just the popular duo! Chris explains
that Julie wants to make amends. Karen is not very helpful - but admits that Scott and Lucy went
out of town.

Courtney confronts Karen - she doesn't want her near Neil! Joe defends Karen, telling Courtney
not to take it out on Karen. Karen thinks it might not have been a mistake - possibly DV trying to hurt Karen. Joe vows to kill him, if he's responsible. Joe explains that he's keeping his fingers crossed that they'll find a bone marrow donor, but if they don't ... (oops - cable went out - and when it comes back on) - Karen has a stunned expression. Guessing Joe told her he and
Courtney may have another child in order to give Neil a bone marrow donor.

Joe assures Karen he wouldn't be sleeping with Courtney - artificial insemination is the way to
go. Joe and Karen both admit they still dream of being together. Actually, Joe hasn't even
mentioned this to Courtney, but he thinks she'll go for it. Karen points out that a sibling only has a 50% chance of being a match. It takes nine months to have a baby - wow, glad Karen learned
THAT in medical school! What if Neil is better by then? Or if he doesn't last that long? Joe will
make Neil well, he'll deal with the rest later. He needs to know that Karen trusts him. She trusts
that he's making his choices for the right reasons. Joe needs more than that. He needs to know that he can make another child with Courtney - and still have a life with her.

Kevy and Eve discuss scared-of-the-dark-ness. Ry-baby was the scaredish one. But not Kevy.
He was comforted by Victor's explanation. Bowling in heaven? Eve tries. Nope. Resounding noise created by the explosive expansion of air heated during a lightning discharge. Got that?
Eve has such lovely memories of Jasmine Island. Oh, yeah? Well, maybe for their next little
getaway, they can take a trip to Rex Stanton's house. Eve can visit "her" wall. Eve and Kevin
discover an encoded file.

Chris tells Julie that Scott and Lucy have taken Christina out of town. Gosh, does Julie sleep
next to the phone too? Julie is unimpressed. She found THAT much out on her own! Julie threatens that Chris better find her baby - or she'll break out and find her, herself.

Karen discusses Joe and Courtney's baby-plan with Gail. Karen worries about the bond that will form between Joe, Courtney and their two children. Gail advises Karen that she'll just have to trust Joe.

Chris shows up at DV's. DV is not happy to see his visitor. DV thought Chris could handle
Julie. Chris fishes for information on the Baldwins' whereabouts. DV comments they'd gotten
some threatening phone calls and their home was ransacked. That's all he can say. Chris hopes
that whoever it is, thinks twice before putting the baby in danger. DV says that Scott and Lucy
breed trouble, that's why he didn't want the baby going to them in the first place.

Karen tells Joe there are complications involved. The new baby isn't going to go away after it's
served it's purpose. He'll need to make a commitment to that child. Joe wants to make a
commitment to her too. Karen says Neil is the one that matters - Joe should do what he has to
do.

Kevin and Eve give up trying to deciper the file, and head upstairs. Victor appears at the window...
