Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 24-Aug-1999

At GH, Chris and Rachel are gloating over the newspaper's headlines about Greg confessing to the murders. Chris asks Rachel how quickly Julie can be released from Ferncliff. She tells him not to blink or he'll miss it. There's a phone call for Rachel. She tells Chris it was from Ferncliff. Julie is throwing a fit. She wants her baby. Chris says "her pillow?" Rachel says her pillow, named Christina.

At Ferncliff, Julie tells Chris and Rachel she is growing impatient. So what if Greg confessed? How soon will she be released? She wants to see her baby! Chris "reminds" her that the baby was just a pillow. Rachel tries to calm Julie down and talks about her faking her pregnancy. Julie tells Rachel she really did give birth and Chris was there. Chris and Rachel tell her she must face reality. Chris asks Rachel to give him some private time alone with Julie. Chris tells Julie she's screwing up their plan. Christina is safe with Scott and Lucy. She has to be patient. They have to follow their original plan and Julie will get Christina back and Chris will get the money. Chris shows his softer side briefly when he tells Julie he knew she'd make a good mother when she held Christina after she was born. When Julie says it sounds like Chris loves Christina, he puts his guard up and claims he loves every baby he has delivered. When Rachel returns, Julie says she was acting that way because she had hoped to be released soon if she had a baby. Rachel warns her not to get Scott and Lucy involved. If they thought that Julie was Christina's mother, they would pull strings to keep her in Ferncliff forever. Rachel assures Julie that her competency hearing will be soon. Julie has to let Rachel control the situation.

Back at GH, Rachel congratulates Chris on how he handled Julie. Chris asks Rachel if she thinks Julie is innocent or guilty. Rachel says those are legal terms and skirts the issue.

After talking aloud about not putting total trust in Rachel, Julie leaves a message on Scott's answering machine saying they need to talk about Christina.

On Jasmine Island, Eve is trying to crack the code in Victor's notes. Kevin tells her the police are coming to investigate. There's a knock at the door. It's Victor. He says "Monk" and collapses into Kevin's arms. Later, Victor is delirious and not making any sense. Kevin and Eve try to get him to tell them anything. Victor is very weak and Kevin realizes he needs his medicine. Eve begs Victor to tell them anything. Maybe it will help them remember things...to fill in the gaps. Victor says no - they are not supposed to remember anything. Victor sees his notes on the coffee table and wants to look at them. He keeps talking but nothing seems to make sense. He mentions the young boy. Kevin asks if he means the boy in his book. Victor tells them that they must leave. They are in danger. If they don't "escape" they will never be together again. He mentions Cobra. Kevin asks Eve why that name sounds familiar. She thinks she has heard it but can't remember from where. Victors says no more questions or Kevin will lose Eve forever. While Victor is resting upstairs, Kevin and Eve keep trying to figure out the puzzle. Eve left a message for Mary to her because they have amazing news. The one thing that Kevin and Eve can conclude is that they are in danger.
