Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 31-Aug-1999

At Karen's, she explains to Joe and Garcia about the stuffed animal she just found in her apartment. It's definitely the one Frank tried to give her at the hospital. She points out where the stuffing is coming out of it - right where Frank threw it up against the wall. Joe blows his stack and takes off to find his brother.

At the Scanlon house, Courtney asks Frank to fix one of Neil's toys. Frank answers - let Joe - he's the official father. He lets Courtney know how upsetting the whole situation is with Neil and the artificial insemination. If he agrees to it, he'll be uncle to another one of his kids. Frank says the only way he'll have another child with Courtney is to let everyone know the child is his. Joe comes in and punches Frank. They fight and Garcia and Karen come in. Garcia asks Frank about the break-in and shows him the stuffed animal. Courtney provides a fake alibi for Frank. Frank says he had thrown the stuffed animal in the trash at GH. When Courtney and Frank are alone, Frank asks her why she gave him an alibi. She doesn't think he did it. She has no ulterior motive. Frank thinks she may have done it to get him to agree to having another baby. Joe brings Karen back to her place. They deduce that DV must be behind the break-in. One of DV's men must have seen Frank throw away the stuffed animal at the hospital and then they planted it at Karen's.

At the lighthouse, Eve explains to Kevin why she pulled away from him while they were kissing - she envisioned kissing DV and DV said that he knew her secret. Kevin wants to try to dig into why she had the vision - maybe use regression therapy. She resists. They compare her vision to his visions of the boy. They have something in common - fear. Who is trying to control them and why? Why did Victor warn them against remembering anything? Kevin talks to Mary on the phone to find out how Victor is doing. He is resting comfortably. Eve hears a voice calling "Mommy!" She drops a plate. Eve tells Kevin what happened and asks him if he thinks her baby could still be alive.

Matt is in shock that Ellen has moved to San Francisco and that Rachel has moved into her apartment already. Chris, who is enjoying Matt's response, keeps giving little digs about Ellen moving away. Chris helps Rachel unpack and asks her the story behind a clock. She starts to tell him about an old love and stops before he is satisfied. Rachel urges Chris to marry Julie soon. As her husband, he can't testify against Julie. Rachel wants Julie released as soon as possible.

At GH, Matt tells Chris that none of the airlines have a record of Ellen taking a flight. Matt is very suspicious of the circumstances. Nobody knows where Ellen is. Even though the hospital in San Francisco confirms they offered her the job, Matt thinks she is missing. Chris gets a look on his face like he thinks maybe Matt is onto something.

Back at Rachel's, she is looking dreamily at the clock and running her fingers over it. The phone rings. She tells the person who called: "there is no Dr. Ellen Burgess here" in a very ominous tone. She hangs up and calls Customer Service. She says she is Dr. Ellen Burgess and wants to have the phone disconnected right away. She has a smug smile on her face after she says it.
