Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 21-Sep-1999

Well here goes:

First scene is Lucy at the nurses station asking for Karen.
Rachel walks up & welcomes here home & suggests that Scott must be glad to see her.
Lucy tries to avoid telling Rachel anything.
Karen walks up & Lucy Karen walk away from Rachel.
Of course Rachel, who is standing close by overhears, Lucy tell Karen that see does not know where Scott is.
Rachel recalls that while visiting Scott at the firehouse, to return a credit card of his, that she saw a note pad with the words Lake Raines written across it.
Rachel hears all she needs to hear & leaves.
Karen then tells Lucy about an encounter DV & Scott had. DV told Scott that no one in his family would ever be safe.
Karen told Lucy that Scott left a message on her answering machine that he was going away to cool off.
Lucy wonders why he didn’t go visit her and the girls if he wanted to cool off. Lucy then assures Karen that she agrees with her that the new responsible Scott wouldn’t do anything to hurt DV.
But the viewer knows that Lucy is concerned about where Scott really is.

Where Scott is, is at DV’s cabin holding DV prisoner. DV is still tied up. Scott shows him what’s left of the letters he burnt (he burnt DV love letters that Meg had written). Scott then looks around to see what else he can find to destroy.
He finds a picture in a drawer of a young boy. (I am guessing that this is a picture of Eve’s son).
Scott asks DV who the boy is. DV does not tell him. Scott says that the boy can’t be his because he doesn’t look like a monster. Scott also askes who the mother is, but DV does not answer.
Scott talks more about how he plans to kill DV. DV says that if Scott kills him then his (DV’s ) “my son might mind”.
DV taunts him some more about how he showed Lucy a good time at this cabin.
Scott says he will be right back. He has to go to his car to get a tarp that he plans to use to dispose of DV’s body.
He then leaves to get the tarp.

While getting the tarp out of the car, guess who shows up? None other then Dr. Locke.
Rachel says she was there to stop him from being a cold-blooded murder.
Scott tells her she can’t stop him.
Rachel trying to convince him to think of his family tells Scott about a story she read in the paper involving a single mother and her daughter.
The daughter was brutally raped.
At his trial the rapist sneered at the mother throughout the trial.
The rapist was let off, as there was not enough evidence.
The mother shot and killed the rapist & was sent to jail for life.
In the meantime, the daughter grew up and married an abusive man.
Eventually the man killed the daughter.
The moral of the story was that the mother was not there to protect the daughter because she was in jail & if Scott killed DV how could he take care of his family.
Scott says that the only choice he has is to hurt DV or have DV hurt his family.
Rachel sympathizes with him saying she knows how it feels to be cornered as she has been there.

While Scott and Rachel were chatting in the woods (that seems to be where Scott’s car was parked), Lucy approaches the cabin. After looking inside, she walks in. Once in the house she turns and sees DV untied and holding a fireplace poker (or some such item).
DV says hello and suggests she is there because she can’t stay away from their love nest.
Lucy wants to know where Scott is.
DV tells her that Scott can’t help her now.
The scene ends with Lucy having a startled look on her face.

The scene then goes back to the above scene with Scott & Rachel.
Rachel is still trying to convince Scott that killing DV is not the thing to do when they hear Lucy give out a loud ‘horror movie’ style scream. They both go running towards the house. That is how today’s show ends.

Meanwhile, while all that was going on.
Kevin called Eve & told her that he got a call telling her that a hospital meeting that was scheduled for the next week had been changed to that evening & that Eve needed to go to the Port Charles Hotel. Eve is upset because all she wanted to do is go home and cuddle with Kevin.
She gets to the Hotel and is so surprised to find out that Kevin tricked her. What he did was set up a special evening of dining and dancing, for the two of them, so that Eve can put her problems aside for one evening. Eve of course is not dressed for such a glamorous night. Not to fear, Kevin came prepared and presented her with an evening gown. After she changed and they ate and drank, it was time for dancing. Their evening is being spoiled because the champagne has given Eve the hiccups. They try a couple of remedies, but none work until Kevin gives her a real long kiss. Surprise! it works. The two of them walk behind a curtain to continue with there lovemaking.

The other story happening today involves Courtney’s insemination procedure. Frank is in Courtney’s room wishing her luck when Joe walks in demanding to know why he is there. Courtney & Frank make up a story about Frank being there to tell her how Neil is doing. Believe it or not, Joe doesn’t believe it. Frank leaves and Joe asks her again why Frank was there. Fortunately for her, the doctor walks in. While Joe and the doc are talking medical talk Courtney switches the little green tube that has Franks sperm in it for the one that conveniently was sitting on the tray table next to her bed. (Shouldn’t that little sample have been refrigerated and clearly marked with the donors name or coded ID?)

The next time we see Joe, Frank is walking by and Joe wants to know why he is there. He accuses Frank of wanting to bother Courtney, but it is too late as she is having her procedure done. Frank tells him that he is there visiting a paramedic friend. Joe again doesn’t believe him and suggest he is there because Frank wants whatever Joe has and now that he couldn’t have Karen he wants Neil.
Frank tells Joe that someday it will be Joe wanting what Frank has and then Frank walks away.
While Frank and Joe were having this little discussion, Karen was in the background. After Frank left Karen suggested that maybe Frank was trying to make Joe jealous with his attention to Courtney. Joe assured Karen he was not jealous. They then made a joke about Joe being a caveman and protecting his women.
The next scene that you see with Joe and Karen, Joe gives her a gift of a dinosaur pendant, symbolic of their previous conversation. He also expresses his devotion to her.
Frank meanwhile sneaks into visit Courtney and sweetly tells her that she has the glow of motherhood about her. They hold hands and Courtney says that this has to work for Neil’s sake.
