Friday, September 24, 1999

The show opens with Rachel Locke, and Mr. & Mrs. (Dr. & Dr.??) Christopher Ramsey celebrating their recent wedding in the Visitor’s Room at Ferncliff.

Rachel: So – here’s to the Bride & Groom!

Chris: Hmm – (sipping from his paper cup) now is this from the Loire region of France, or the northern vineyards of Tuscany?

Julie: The vending machines inside the central region of Ferncliff.

Chris: Yes, yes, great bubbly, September ‘ 99 – wonderful month! Cake, darling? (he feeds Julie a bite)

Julie: Oh thank you, dear. Hmm! Bran! A Ferncliff fav!

Rachel: Ok – alright let’s just pretend this is champagne from France, and pastries from Switzerland.

Julie: Wait a minute, wait a minute - pretend? Isn’t that a no no here in looney-land?

Rachel: A couple of minutes of positive fantasy never hurt anyone.

Julie: I’m grateful you were able to arrange any kind of reception at all. But I might really lose my mind if I keep having to eat institution food with plastic utensils so I don’t hurt myself, or others.

Chris: Look on the bright side – at least we didn’t spend a whole bunch of money on a reception for all our freeloading so called friends to show up and drink all the booze!

Julie: Oh and I was never wild about ice sculptures, anyway.

Rachel: This might not be the reception of your dreams but that doesn’t mean that we can’t observe some traditions.

Julie: Oh, like smashing cake in each other’s faces? No, I’ll pass.

Rachel: Chris, Chris - don’t you want to make a toast?

Chris: Absolutely. You know I always figured that the woman who snagged me would be one lucky lady, but surprise, surprise. I’m the lucky one. To my beautiful bride – may she get sentenced to life… with me.

Rachel: And to your marriage – the first step to freeing Julie. And if everything goes as planned – soon you’ll be spending every moment together.

Chris: Here, here.

Julie: Here, here.

Chris: Now – you need to start thinking about where you want a honeymoon. Paris, Barcelona, Hawaii? Wherever your heart desires.

Julie: How about a Fairytale Castle? Where new little dreams are created?

Chris: A Fairytale Castle it is. Then it’s off to wherever my wife would be happiest.

====The lighthouse – where Kevin, Eve, Scott & Lucy are discussing the photo of the boy found in DV’s cabin. ====

Kevin: So what do you think Eve? Could he be your son?

Eve: He would.. he would be about that age….

Scott: Uh, wait a second Eve – I thought that your son died at birth.

Eve: Yeah - so did I until recently. I heard a voice in my head – a little boy calling for his Mommy.

Kevin: And then Victor and I started having visions of what could be the same child.

Lucy: Wow -so you think he’s been trying to contact you psychically?

Eve: Maybe.

Kevin: It’s complicated but the bottom line is if this picture was found in DV’s cabin then there is a possibility that the boy’s alive.

Scott: Let me take a look at this picture – Now does that look anything like Bordisso – (to Eve) does this look like anybody in your family?

Eve: Maybe…. Maybe not. I don’t know. You would think that I would feel some sort of instinctual… I don’t know – I can’t tell if this is my son or not. All I am is just confused about this.

Kevin: That picture does raise a lot more questions than answers. Like: what was that child doing in the Jasmine Island house?

Lucy: Oh great – so this is just yet another mystery about David Bordisso.

Scott: Well then we’ll solve it – make him vulnerable and then we will kick him out of our lives – permanently.

Back to the “Wedding Reception” at Ferncliff.

Chris: Rachel, now that we’ve tied the knot – how soon until we can get the competency hearing so Julie can stand trial?

Julie: I want my life back, more than ever.

Rachel: You’re gonna get your life back.

Julie: When?

Rachel: Look I know how difficult it is to be parted from the ones that you love – but I really don’t think it’s wise to overestimate your readiness.

Julie: Are you questioning my sanity?

Rachel: No, no – I’m not. I’m preparing you for the interview process because it’s going to be grueling.

Chris: Greg Cooper copped to the murders that has to help Julie’s case.

Rachel: But Julie was able to be manipulated by him and that could be a mark against you.

Chris: Cooper’s not around and she can’t be influenced by him anymore.

Rachel: It’s still gonna be a fight Chris – I mean Julie has to be able to distinguish what’s real and what’s not – they’re gonna examine that very closely.

Julie: Yes – but I should breeze through it. I mean that jerk shrink who declared me incompetent painted me a lot more out of touch than I really was.

Rachel: Ok - You think Dr. Davis was hard on you before? Well then you get ready ‘cause he’s gonna be even harder this time.

Chris: Wait a minute – can’t the court appoint a different psychiatrist?

Rachel: I specifically asked for the same one.

Julie: And your reason for this move being…..?

Rachel: Who better to evaluate your progress than the psychiatrist who actually put you in here? If he gives you the OK – it virtually eliminates all doubt about you.

Chris: There are a bunch of people in this town who want to see Julie locked away forever. People with a fair amount of respectability – like Kevin Collins.

Rachel: My intention is not only to have Julie released from Ferncliff – but I’m paving the way for you to be accepted, even welcomed into the community.

Julie: Lofty goal, Dr. Locke.

Rachel: Julie – once you’re declared innocent you’re not only going to have your freedom, but you’re also gonna have your respectability and isn’t that what we all want?

Chris: (to Julie) Hey – you know Rachel has come through with flying colors on everything that she said she would. Maybe we should trust her strategy.

Julie: I have to admit, you’ve been right about everything so far.

Rachel: I understand how difficult it is to give up control – to put your future into someone else’s hands but Julie – I will not let you down.

Julie: Somehow – I believe you. OK – we’ll play it your way.

Rachel: You know the more you surrender yourself to my care – the more I’m gonna be able to help you.

Chris: That’s right and once we blow this popsicle stand – we’ll be able to start working on that family you’ve been dreaming about.

=====Back to the Lighthouse=====

Kevin: (to Scott) Did you tell Lucy about DV in Italy?

Scott: No – I didn’t want to upset her while she was away with the children….

Lucy: Wait a minute - I know Victor’s alive, of course I was ecstatic about that so what else happened in Italy?

Eve: Well Kevin and I went to search for Victor, and then Victor and I were kidnapped.

Lucy: Why in the world would anybody kidnap you? (Eve shoots Lucy a look like “What the heck kind of question is THAT?)

Kevin: It has to do with some information that Victor uncovered about a covert operation called the Cobra Project.

Scott: Which we think Bordisso’s mixed up in – in fact, he could even be the Cobra.

Kevin: According to Victor – it all involves the use of psychic phenomena.

Eve: Right – this Cobra Project has found the ability to project psychic images into people’s minds.

Kevin: And those images can really do a number on you – I’ve already had the good fortune of experiencing a few myself – and they do feel real.

Lucy: Oh wait – so you’re saying that this Cobra person – whatever he is – possibly is projecting this little boy’s image into your mind?

Kevin: It’s a possibility.

Scott: Yeah well it also is a possibility that we’re talking about some science fiction here.

Lucy: No No - Now wait Now Scott now think about it – you know it’s possible to tap into the paranormal I mean, look what I’ve dabbled in a little bit….

Scott: Oh come on Lucy! You know reading tea leaves and looking in crystal balls is one thing – but zapping pictures into people’s minds? I don’t think so.

Lucy: I know, I know - maybe it’s a big stretch – but if Kevin believes it’s possible then I think there’s something to it because he was always such a big skeptic before.

Scott: Eve what about you? Do you believe this?

Eve: Look I know that it sounds like it’s out there – but it explains the false memories Kevin and I have from our time in Rome.

Kevin: It seems that our captors projected a reality into our heads that never actually happened.

Scott: So suppose somebody could put some images into your head – what would be the point?

Kevin: Well in Eve’s case – if DV knew that she hid her pregnancy from him - he’d be doing it to torture her – make her wonder if her son is alive or dead.

Lucy: And I can’t think of a worse torture….

Scott: Well you see Bordisso – he deals in reality. He does stuff like cutting brakes on her car or sabotaging businesses, ransacking houses – he doesn’t really play a lot of mind games…

Kevin: Why not?

Scott: Well because you can’t make people think what you want them to think… that’s crazy!

Lucy: The phone call – THE PHONE CALL! He thought he heard a conversation I had with DV….

Scott: No – I HEARD a conversation you had with DV you were hatching one of your plans like you were gonna do…

Lucy: No, no, no – you never heard that – that was not real. See? He THOUGHT he heard this conversation.

Eve: There’s your explanation….

Kevin: Sounds like DV’s taking this whole project to a new level.

Scott: So he’s causing these phoney phone calls in my head?

Kevin: He’s trying to ruin your relationship with Lucy by inserting psychic projections into your head!

Scott: Oh!

====Wedding Reception at Ferncliff ====

Rachel: Well I have a wedding present for you….

Julie: Wait, wait - don’t tell me – his and hers Rorschach tests?

Rachel: No - would you settle for no therapy session today?

Julie: Would I!

Rachel: Well you just be ready cause our next few sessions are gonna be intense. I’m really gonna step up the effort to get you freed.

Julie: Sounds good to me.

Chris: You know I really hate to leave my lovely new bride – but I have a staff meeting to get to.

Rachel: Actually, I do, too.

Julie: Thank you for bringing me something me so beautiful to wear and for performing the ceremony… dresser, minister, shrink – everything a girl needs on her wedding day!

Chris: Hey- what about the groom?

Julie: You’re the most important one, Pookie.

Rachel: I really do hope that one day I’m more to you than just a doctor. I want to be your friend.

Julie: Well stranger things have happened. Would my friend like to catch the bouquet?

Rachel: Oh - and take a walk down that aisle myself? No – no – thank you though I’m just fine on my own right now. Why don’t you take it to your room with you though - and let it be a reminder of your first step toward freedom?

Julie: Excellent idea.

Rachel: I think I’ll leave you two newlyweds. You could use a moment to yourselves I’m sure. Bye bye.

Julie: Bye:

Chris: Well – look at us – hitched!

Julie: Who would have guessed?

Chris: Yeah - Chris & Julie – married!

Julie: Hard to believe when you consider it all began as a business deal between us. But somewhere along the line – maybe when you delivered Christina – something changed. I don’t know how long our arrangement will last but um I don’t hate it.

Chris: Well I don’t hate it either. And here’s my wedding promise to you: I will do everything in my power to reunite you with Christina.

Julie: That’s the best gift anyone could ever give me.

Chris: And since I was there when she was born – I might as well stick around as long as it feels right for both of us.

They kiss.

Chris: I’ll see you soon.

Julie: Chris – they won’t let me wear my wedding ring in here. Will you hold on to it for me?

Chris: Not afraid I’ll hock it?

Julie: You’d better not – if I ever find out you’ve been leading me on…..ooh watch out.

Chris: Do I look that stupid? (they kiss again) You have a dream or two about me tonight OK? The good kind.

==== Back to the lighthouse =====

Eve: You made any headway with him?

Kevin: Yeah how about it Scott – have we convinced you that there’s some truth to psychic projections?

Scott: Nope. But you three are convinced.

Lucy: OK Pal – then at least say that you’re open to the possibility.

Scott: Look Lucy – if there was some way to put visions and hallucinations into somebody’s head… if somebody could do that – they still wouldn’t be able to break us up.

Kevin: I wouldn’t be so quick to discount their effectiveness.

Eve: Kevin’s right - it stays with you. That voice that I heard – the little boy’s voice in my head – it’s been with me ever since I can’t get it out of my head no matter how hard I tried.

Lucy: We argued over… we yelled over that phone call.

Kevin: That’s exactly what Bordisso wanted you to do.

Lucy: Right you tried to kill him – he knows he can’t really get you physically you almost got him – so now he’s got to come up with another way to strike at us and he’s doing it through mind games!

Scott: Yeah –Ok well if that was possible – we’ve gotta do something here – so maybe Victor can help us.

Kevin: I’m afraid that Victor is that last person to help us out.

Eve: Victor practically begged us not to investigate this any further he says that it’s way too dangerous.

Scott: Well then if it is really dangerous like you, everybody seems to believe – then we need to do something.

Kevin: I suppose I could try the internet – see if I can come up with anything like Cobra project.

Eve: Try “psychic projections” too.

Lucy: OK – that’s good. Now – we get information, then what?

Scott: Then what, what are you kidding? Then we’re going to pull the rug right out from underneath him.

===== Chris & Julie Ramsey on the phone =====

Chris: Dr. Ramsey here.

Julie: Mrs. Ramsey here.

Chris: I was wondering where you stood on taking my name.

Julie: Christina was named for you. Makes sense to add the Ramsey part too.

Chris: It has a nice ring to it.

Julie: Today was pretty terrific.

Chris: Yeah it was – you know the next time I see you I’m gonna bring a stack of travel brochures – you can pick out the honeymoon destination of your choice – first class all the way.

Julie: Why not? You married a rich woman! (Pause) I didn’t mean that the way it sounded.

Chris: Hey don’t worry about it.

Julie: In fact I called um, I called to apologize for ever doubting you. You came through for me in a big way – I know I can trust you Chris.

Chris: Yeah, yeah you can.

Julie: Call me? When you have some time.

Chris: See you later Mrs. Ramsey. (to Rachel) Rachel? I think it’s about time we told Julie that you know about Christina.

Rachel: You haven’t minded keeping it a secret this long – why tell her now?

Chris: Rachel - when Julie finds out that we’ve been withholding this information from her – her reaction could end up biting us on the butt.

Rachel: Chris – Julie isn’t going to find out. She’s going to reveal this to me on her own.

Chris: Things have changed between Julie and me. We’re a team now.

Rachel: And I’m part of that team. And I say it’s a mistake to veer off course.

Chris: And I say I don’t want to lie to her anymore.

Rachel: You tell Julie I know about Christina – and I’m off the case.

====The Lighthouse ====

Lucy: Hey – it must be really terrible to actually think you have a child out there somewhere.

Eve: I uh thought I had dealt with his death – which is why I was so mad at YOU, for bringing the whole thing up again.

Lucy: I know, I’m sorry – you know if I could take that back and just stuff it back down my mouth I would in a minute – in a heartbeat.

Eve: Well it never occurred to me that DV might have known about this the whole time. He may have known about our son and if he is bringing in these psychic images to me just to get back at me to hurt me….

Lucy: Don’t you see though – that is what DV does best. He preys on people’s vulnerability look what he’s already done to Scott and me – he’s separated us from our children.

Eve: That’s right. I’m sorry you must miss them terribly.

Lucy: I actually ache physically from it.

Eve: Gosh – the more I look at this picture – the more I think that my son IS alive.

Lucy: Well you know he does have the sweetest expression – doesn’t he?

Eve: You know if we are just supposed to be seeing things in our head – these images – then how can it be transferred onto film? This is physical?

Lucy: Well that’s like a forty-nine million trillion dollar question, isn’t?

Eve: He is real. This little boy IS real. But is he mine?

Lucy: Eve – um You know I just really hate to see you getting your hopes up here – but I have to tell you , if I were in your shoes – I’d be doing the same thing. (Scott & Kevin enter the room)

Eve: Any luck?

Kevin: Nothing whatsoever on the Cobra Project.

Eve: Well how are we supposed to give DV a taste of his own medicine if we can’t get any information?

Lucy: Ohh! Rome! Let’s go to Rome – I love Rome – and you know what? Where you were held captive – maybe we can dig something up there- come on!

Scott: Lucy I think that trail’s probably cold.

Kevin: I think Scott’s right – Any clues to be found there would have been disposed of a long time ago.

Lucy: OK then fine – we have to come up with something - some, some way that makes DV let his guard down!

Scott: Well since I tried to inject him in the bottom with rat poison I think he’ll be looking over his shoulder!

Kevin: Unless… unless he thinks he’s already gotten what he wanted from you?

Eve: Ok – what have you got cookin’ up there?

Kevin: Neither of you are going to like it….

Eve: Well tell us anyway.

Kevin: Lucy, Scott – you need to break up, and Lucy? You and I need to get back together.

And we’re OUT!
