Today's was fun to watch. Only one K'Eve scene. But there was a good Lucy/Kevin/Victor scene to make up for it. Excellent Lucy/Rachel Chris/Kevin Julie/Eve
It opened with a phone call between Scott and Serena. The first time we've seen Serena in a while. Scott told her that he loves her, misses her, told her to kiss Christina and then hung up. Scott had a few seconds where he looked very tired and unhappy. Then he picked up a file and read the phone number for Rachel Locke on the pages inside. He called Rachel, who told him that the file was important, and she needed to pick it up that day.
To the lighthouse.
Lucy entered to find Victor and Kevin tearing the house apart. "If pretending we are back together means I have to pick up this place, forget it. Look at this place!" She saw Victor emptying a drawer all over the floor. "Victor, what are you doing? Victor!"
After about the fifth "Lucy!" She finally turned around and looked at Kevin. "What?"
Kevin asked her if she remembered the letters that Victor sent to him from the convent. When she said yes, Kevin and Victor converged on her like she was holding their favorite toy and wouldn't give it back. Both of them speaking at once, and actually backing her up a few steps, they asked her if she knew what happened to them. She said no, and they backed up, dejected. They then explained that the website Scott uncovered was full of these mathmatical equations that were part of the COBRA project. Lucy replied "Holy Asp." Whatever that means. Kevin and Victor told her that these equations were part of a program to block the psychic projections. Not the whole, but part. Lucy was confused, and her head was going back and forth between them trying to understand. Until Victor grabbed her, pushing and pulling her to sit on the sofa with him. Once again the tennis match began, and the men told Lucy that no one had been able to perfect it, but while Victor was in his 'altered state' he might have perfected it. And if he perfected it, he might have put it in the letters to Kevin, and they would have what they needed to stop Bordisso. Kevin, waving his arms very dramatically, announced "We have to find those letters!"
The Hospital
Eve was talking on the phone to DV, telling him that he didn't need to remind her, she'd try to get the letters, but it wouldn't be easy now that she'd broken up with Kevin. DV accused her of not being focused, and asked her is she wanted to see her son. And also reminded her that if Kevin found out, the deal was off.
Hanging up, Eve was startled by Chris. He told her that he needed to talk to her. Immediately, Eve apologized for taking all the hot water. Chris told her she also left the toilet seat down, but this was more important. That if she wanted to stay with him, she had to go see Julie. Having had enough grief for one day, Eve told him that she would move out.
"What? And miss martini night? And my singing in the shower in the morning? How can you even think of passing that up?"
Eve agreed to go see her tomorrow. Chris asked her to go today, unless she was going to "see some sleazy shrink who has a thing for another woman"
Eve goes on a rant here, and it was a good one.
"What if there were extenuating circumstances? What if he was drunk? What if Lucy was threatening to do herself harm? Or Scott? And Kevin was just trying to distract her?"
Chris's face took on this dramatic horrified look. "And what if Pat Buchanan got the republican nomination?"
Eve then played dirty. "I'm just telling you that it not always easy for people whose lovers don't live on lock down wards."
That hurt, and Chris showed it. Eve apologized, and agreed to go see Julie to make it up to him.
The lighthouse
Lucy paced back and forth. An idea occurred to her. "The linen closet. Aunt Charlene kept all her special things in the linen closet, so maybe I put them there."
Kevin was amazed that Lucy considered the letters to be special things. Sitting next to him on the sofa, she told him they were special because Victor sent them and Victor was his father. And the letters were the beginning of them getting closer together. Kevin reminded her that the letters almost tore them apart. That he'd wanted to keep Victor a secret from everyone, even her. (I kept hoping for the word 'lie' to come up) Lucy told Kevin that he was so closed off at that point, she was afraid Ryan was resurfacing.
At this point, their eyes locked and my heart started to pound.
Kevin told her she never backed away from him.
"I cared too much." And when she found out where the letters were coming from, she had to go to the convent.
"You made me look at things I'd buried since I was a kid."
"I didn't force you, I think you were good and ready."
Kevin turned to face her, still looking in her eyes. "I needed a friend to walk down that road with me. No one had ever done that for me before."
Lucy's eyes didn't look away, but her voice did sound a bit strained. "I was honored to be your friend."
"You still are."
"I'm glad to have you back." Her voice was a whisper.
Quiet moment, sweet smiles, inturrupted by Victor, who was unable to find the letters. Lucy told them that maybe she took them with her when she moved out. Her next move was to go to the firehouse and look. Kevin told her to make sure she was careful.
The eye contact here was incredible.
The firehouse
Rachel saw a skateboard that Scott was making for Serena. Leaning on it, Rachel 'accidently' got paint all over her shirt. Scott offered to go get her a shirt to wear so she can quickly wash it out. At that moment, Serena called to tell Scott that the kids at school told her she can't do an Ollie (someone please translate for me!) on her new skateboard. During the conversation that followed, Rachel went upstairs herself and into Scott and Lucy's bedroom. You could see the wheels spinning in Rachel's head as she took inventory of the room. Running her hands over the bed, she began to look through Lucy's drawers. Pulling out a pink and purple tank, she got this snide look and tone. "Does Lucy own anything that doesn't glow in the dark?" Then she spotted a dark blue satin robe hanging on the door, almost smiled, and unbuttoned she shirt.
Scott opens the door to reveal Lucy, they put on a short scene about her getting her things. "Can't you wait till I'm out?" Scott wouldn't look at her as he said this.
"No, I can't."
As soon as the door shut, Lucy pulled Scott to kiss her. "I missed you." She took her coat off, he put it back on her, she took it back off. Scott stopped her. "Wait."
As Lucy tried to kiss him again, Rachel's voice inturrupted them. Scott turned away, while Lucy looked absolutely stunned. Rachel came down the stairs in Lucy's robe. If looks could kill....Scott and Rachel would have been toast.
Rachel tried, not very convincingly, to tell Lucy that it wasn't what it seemed. Lucy told them that there MUST be an explanation. Poor Scott, standing between them, didn't want to do this. "What difference does it make? You've got a problem, why don't you go home to your shrink and shrink it out." His eyes met hers for a second or two and dropped again repeatedly.
Rachel inturrupted. "I'm just going to go wash the paint out of my blouse."
After she left the room, Lucy *demanded* answers from Scott. Looking away from her, he told her that Rachel brought him dinner last night, and left some papers. Lucy grabbed his face and made him look at her. "Stop it!The point is that we've only been broken up less than a week. Why is she bringing you dinner?"
He finally looked her in the eyes. "Nevermind about that. You know I love you. The point is that we're supposed to be fighting."
Backing toward the stairs, Lucy pretended to scream at him, and he yelled back. After blowing him a kiss, she went upstairs.
The hospital
Kevin was approached by Chris. After being told that Kevin's reason for being there was none of his business, Chris told him that if it concerned Eve, it was. Kevin thought Chivalry was dead.
Chris asked Kevin if this whole thing was a big joke and did he have any idea how much he'd hurt Eve. Kevin told Chris that he was trying to make it up to Eve and he didn't want any interference from him. Chris stood in Kevin's face and told him the way it is. "Why don't you just go home and take your reins with you? I mean, Lucy's the one you've always wanted, it's clear that Eve was just a rebound relationship."
"I love her."
"But you love Lucy more."
Chris told Kevin that Eve went to see Julie.
Ferncliff
Eve told Julie that she and Kevin never would have broken up if Lucy'd stayed out of town. Julie was suprised to hear the Lucy was back, and started to question Eve about it. Eve unknowingly shut her down by telling her that she wasn't there to gossip about Lucy. Eve assumed Julie didn't want her to move in with Chris. Julie told her that she trusted Chris. This was when the fun began.
Eve got frustrated. "It's me you don't trust."
"It's got nothing to do with your past."
Less than 3 minutes, and Eve's insulted. Not a record, but close. Julie told her that it wasn't what she meant. That some things are meant to stay in the past. The same girl who can't open chinese food suddenly got a brainstorm. "What should be left in the past? Prostitution? Or murder?"
Julie swore to Eve that she didn't kill anyone, that Greg Cooper brainwashed her. You could see her hit the mark when she asked Eve if she knew what it was like to have someone have that much control over her.
Eve didn't believe her, but she told her that Chris did.
"I love Chris. And Chris loved me. Why can't you see that? Look I didn't want you to come her to make you beg for a place to live."
"I give up, Julie, why did you want me to come here?"
Julie told Eve that she knew Eve was important to Chris, and she could not build a life with Chris if all his friends hated her. Eve gave her credit for being convincing.
"It's not an act. Let me prove it."
The firehouse
Lucy carried a suitcase and garment bag to the door. "I'll send for the rest of my things. But, Scott, there are a few things I need to discuss with you." She stared daggers at Rachel. "Alone." Scott was once again finding the floor very interesting. Taking the hint, Rachel left. After thanking Lucy for the robe.
As soon as the door shut, Lucy threw the robe in the air, announcing her intention to burn it. Looking as if her skin were crawling, she told Scott that she didn't want "that woman sliming all over you." Taking her face in his hands, and finally making eye contact, Scott told her she was the only woman for him. Lucy admitted she might have overreacted. But she missed him, and she hated being away from him and the girls. Then she told him about the equation and the letters.
"Victor popped something like that, top secret, in the mail?"
"Yeah,well, you know, he's Victor."
Then it was Scott's turn to wave his hands in the air and announce "We have to find those letters!"
The hospital
Eve showed off her arm to have no knife wounds from Julie. Then she dropped what appeared to be a bombshell on Chris. She told him that she believed Julie loved him.
Chris called Julie.
"Things are starting to go my way. Lucy and Christina are back in town." Julie was smiling as she spoke.
Chris was still smiling at that point.
"If I can just get through this competency hearing,"
Chris's smile started to falter.
"I'll be that much closer to being with you, and my little girl."
Suddenly Chris looked like this wasn't exactly what he'd planned. (guess he should be careful what he wishes for)
Eve was walking through the corridor, when Kevin hissed at her. Meeting in the stairwell, Kevin told her that Chris hadn't mentioned he'd been looking for her because he meant it when he'd said that "You shouldn't be hanging out with a dog like me."
Eve told him not to talk about himself that way.
Kevin told her that this breakup thing was his idea, but if he ever mentioned doing it again to ignore him.
They agreed it was harder than they both thought it would be. Then Kevin told Eve about the letters. Eve's reaction wasn't what Kevin thought it would be.
"What's the matter? I thought you'd be happy. You look worried."
