Port Charles Update for Thursday, 2-Dec-1999

Courtney pays a visit to Frank. Frank’s being flippant but Courtney is all seriousness. Today she finds out if the child she is carrying is a match for Neil. Courtney is more afraid than she has ever been in her life – she feels that if the baby is not a match Neil will die. She begs Frank tearily to come with her. Frank holds her in his arms.

Joe is looking at a newspaper headline that shouts, “Will a Killer Go Free?” Karen hopes for a fair jury but Joe doesn’t want to discuss a subject they will never agree on. Instead they look at pictures of him and Neil snow boarding. Julie’s at the courthouse but where is Chris? Relax orders Rachel. Dara wishes Rachel “luck” in proving Julie innocent. Chris finally makes his appearance. Julie and Chris hug but their closeness makes Rachel frown.

Scott is buying stocks. Lots of it. All DV’s so he can let the company go to rot. He then orders Lucy never to call DV his father again. Lucy points out that DV being his biological father doesn’t change Scott, but it does have to affect him. All Scott can and will focus on is being set up and proving his innocence. Lucy points out that his father slept with his fiancee. Scott doesn’t think DV knows he is Scott’s father and he has no intention of telling DV.

Courtney arrives at the hospital, apologizing for being late. No wonder, says the “good” brother, with all that dead weight you’re carrying. The dead weight glares at him. Karen wishes Courtney luck. Courtney and Joe go off to see Dr. Neumann. Chris has been singing Julie’s innocent song to the press. Rachel orders Chris to his seat, but Julie drops the ring Chris had had placed under her pillow the night before.

An officer snarls that Julie is not allowed jewelry. Dara comes over to do some investigating. Rachel claims the ring as her own and then demands to know where the ring came from. Julie tells all. Rachel is now majorly ticked. Court begins. Lucy hangs up the phone and tells Scott that Kevin is worried about Julie’s trial. Scott is worried about Scott. Lucy had the way to get DV to back off. Tell him the truth. Scott once again says – rather loudly – he is not talking about it. Lucy and he argue when math-unhappy Serena interrupts them. Serena wants to go back to school. She wonders why Scott is sad. She and Scott go to the kitchen to make happy face cookies, wisely leaving Lucy behind.

Courtney points out to Karen that Julie broke out of Ferncliff, into the Scanlon’s home and threatened her with a knife (all very good points I might add.) Karen still thinks Julie could be innocent. Frank is less kind about his ex – she belongs where she can get the serious medical help she needs. Joe has the results. Right in his hot little hand. And – and – and – commercial break! Gee I bet that shocked you.

Okay, we are back. Joe still has the results. All worried faces. He finally opens it – the baby is a match. Joe and Karen and Frank and Courtney hug and then Joe hugs Courtney. Courtney wants Frank to go with her to tell Neil but Frank sadly states that it sounds like a parent-only moment. Celebrate later? Suggests Courtney. Frank doesn’t think that’s a good idea. He leaves, leaving Courtney no longer so happy.

Scott brings Lucy cookies but she wants only to talk about DV. Serena and Karen deserve to know he’s their grandfather. Scott doesn’t want them to know they carry around bad blood. Lucy tells Scott he can’t lie to them. Scott loves Lucy but he’s doing this his way. The jury selection is going well. Chris steps out for air, followed by Rachel. She warms Chris that sometimes love causes people to behave foolishly. Chris would never do anything to hurt Julie. Rachel pulls out her phone.
