The show opens with Kevin and Victor in a car en route to Officer Gordon’s apartment

Kevin: I never should have let Eve try to get information from her friend without me. Are we close, or what?

Victor: Two blocks. You thought Eve was supposed to meet this woman at the hospital, how dangerous is that?

Kevin: Very – if she’s alone in an apartment with a cop gone bad.

Victor: Eve and Patty are probably sitting on the couch discussing last night’s episode of “The Practice” – Officer Gordon probably isn’t even there.

Kevin: Maybe – but if she is alone with him and he suspects that she’s on to him, she could be in real danger.

Officer Gordon’s apartment

Of. Gordon: It’s pretty stupid thinking you could outsmart me.

Eve: You know, a manicure and pedicure don’t take that long. Patty’s going to be back here any minute.

Of. Gordon: Oh, I didn’t tell you did I? She’s gonna go visit her Mom after she gets her nails done. She’ll be gone for hours.

Eve: As long as we’re going to be spending the evening together, why don’t you satisfy my curiosity? What made you frame Scott for David Bordisso’s attempted murder?

Of. Gordon: You’re cute – and I’m trustworthy. No one would suspect a nice guy like me of taking a bribe.

Eve: But you did.

Of. Gordon: A huge chunk of change.

Eve: to switch the bullets and make it look like Scott shot David Bordisso.

Of. Gordon: I struggled with the decision… for about a millisecond, then asked which way to the bank.

Eve: Who paid you to frame Scott?

Of. Gordon: Sorry – conversations over. It doesn’t really matter. You won’t be able to tell anybody. (He pulls out a switchblade).

Sixth floor lobby at GH – Lucy is waiting….

Rachel: Lucy? You’re here rather late – I hope nothing’s wrong with either of the girls.

Lucy: Nope, nope, nope, I’m just waiting for Scott.

Rachel: Is he OK?

Lucy: Yes, he’s fine, too.

Rachel: Well, sitting here on the 6th floor looking rather anxious, did Scott go to see David Bordisso?

Lucy: That shrink intuition that you have must come in handy but you know I find that it borders on nosy and annoying.

Rachel: It’s just that I know that the two of you are going through a lot and if there’s anything I can do….

Lucy: You keep asking and asking that and no – there’s absolutely nothing you can do, thank you.

Rachel: All right. (She turns to leave)

Lucy: Oh, all right – could you just answer a question perhaps – would you mind?

Rachel: No, not at all.

Lucy: OK – David Bordisso – his condition, do you know what it is at the present time?

Rachel: No I really don’t - I just got back a little while ago – I’ve been in court all morning selecting a jury for Julie’s trial.

Lucy: Oh – which I can’t discuss with you, because I am a witness for the prosecution.

Rachel: Who better to attest to the horrors that Julie went through, than you?

Lucy: Whew! You must have been on the jury selection thingy a little too long and gotten wacky!

Rachel: Why do you say that?

Lucy: Because to even believe for a minute that I would do anything to help Julie – is kinda crazy.

Rachel: I don’t think so – I think the two of you have a lot in common.

David Bordisso’s hospital room. Scott is standing at the foot of DV’s bed.

DV: What are you staring at?

Scott: I’m staring at you.

DV: You’ve never seen a dying man before?

Scott: Never one I never wanted to see die so badly.

DV: Your bedside manner stinks Baldwin. It’s a good thing you chose law instead of medicine.

Scott: What do you want?

DV: I have something to say to you, in case I die.

Scott: Spit it out!

DV: I won.

Opening credits

DV’s hospital room

Scott: Even know all you think about is revenge.

DV: I will die happy knowing that you’ll spend the rest of your pathetic life in jail for killing me.

Scott: I didn’t shoot you – you know it Bordisso!

DV: And therein lies the real beauty of this.

Scott: What a waste, what a waste!

DV: My death – well I’m touched.

Scott: No, not your death. Your life is a waste.

DV: My life is not a waste because I met your mother, Meg.

Scott: I wish you never met my mother. She had a heart, she had a soul.

DV: Two things that you’re sure I don’t possess.

Scott: And soon, you’re not even gonna have a life.

DV: Careful what you wish for, you might end up even getting deeper if that’s possible.

Scott: (goes right up to DV’s face) Do you know how much I hate you?

DV: As much as I hate you. Well, I’ll be damned; we do have something in common.

Sixth floor hospital lobby

Lucy: OK I will bite. What did you mean when you said that Julie and I have something in common?

Rachel: Well, Julie confided in me that you visited her a few weeks ago.

Lucy: So? What about it?

Rachel: She told me how David Bordisso kidnapped you.

Lucy: That happens to not be a very big secret.

Rachel: Well I found it very interesting, ironic even, that he made you believe you were someone that you weren’t. Just like Cooper made Julie believe that she was his sister.

Lucy: Oh, hm, well, you know what DV did to me was very horrible, but it’s not the same thing that happened with Julie?

Rachel: Hmm. It isn’t?

Lucy: No, it’s not. As a matter of fact, if you get your facts straight I was never accused of murder or I never participated in hurting anybody just because I was being held captive by a man.

Rachel: Well still I think there was a very big connection there. Here, an evil man took an innocent woman and made her believe that she was someone else completely. He controlled what she did, what she said, even what she believed.

Lucy: Ok, well I will say that there is not much, but a comparison can be made, yes.

Rachel: You see, you witnessed it first hand. You saw Cooper’s control over Julie when he tried to kill you and Eve, think back, who was really in control?

Lucy: Greg Cooper may have orchestrated it, but Julie did her part.

Rachel: Could we say the same about you and DV?

Lucy: Maybe so, but I still say the two situations are very, very different.

Rachel: Look, I’m not asking you to believe that Julie’s innocent overnight. I just want you to weigh the facts before you take the stand and say that she’s guilty of a crime that she didn’t commit.

Officer Gordon’s apartment

Of. Gordon: Too bad you know so much, you seem like a nice person. (He grabs Eve by the collar of her jacket and pulls her up out of the chair)

Eve: What are you gonna do with me?

Of. Gordon: I don’t know – but it’s not gonna be here. Too messy.

Eve runs for the door but he catches her and they struggle. She starts to scream. Kevin breaks down the door.

Kevin: Eve!

Victor: Eve!

Kevin and Gordon fight and Gordon is knocked out.

Kevin: Eve? (He unties her, while Victor takes care of the “clean up” work. He pushes the unconscious cop into the apartment, and shuts the door)

Eve: Oh God - what took you so long?

Kevin: Traffic, what do you think?

Eve: Well thank God it wasn’t rush hour or we never would have got that guy! He’s the one Kevin; he’s the one, he set Scott up he told me straight to my face, he confessed, Scott didn’t do anything!

Kevin: Eve, Eve, and Eve….

Eve: C’mon we’ve gotta go, what are we waiting for?

Kevin: Eve…

Eve: We’ve got to tell Scott that he’s off the hook!

Kevin: Eve! Stop – breathe, relax! The police are on their way. You can tell them all about it once they get here. I’m worried about you right now. Are you all right?

Eve: Yeah (out of breath), yeah, I’m OK.

Kevin: You’re OK?

Eve: Yeah.

Kevin: What do you enjoy giving me a heart attack?

Eve: Oh c’mon – don’t tell me you were worried about me! I knew that you would be here just in time – I knew it just like you always are.

Kevin: (seems annoyed) Fine – Victor – untie Eve’s friend, we’re going to let her get out of this mess herself.

Eve: Hey, hey – wait a minute, wait a minute – OK, maybe I was a little bit scared – but I thought you liked playing the hero….

Kevin: Well the danger part I could do without, but the hero? I could get used to that….

Eve: C’mere hero. (Eve kisses her hero).

Commercial

Back to the 6th floor GH lobby – Lucy is still waiting for Scott. She sees a newspaper headline “Will a killer go free?”

Lucy: Oh boy – was Julie manipulated into believing she killed John Kanelos?

Flashback land – Lucy is remembering her visit to Ferncliff and a conversation with Julie where Julie is explaining how she was brainwashed.

Rachel walks by.

Lucy: Oh hey, I’ve got another question – since the trial is underway is Julie allowed to have any visitors?

Rachel: Oh yes, yes she is – I’ll be happy to arrange it if you like.

Lucy: Thanks, but I’ll make my own arrangements.

Officer Gordon’s apartment – The PCPD is taking him away.

Eve: (to Taggert) Listen to this. (She plays the tape of him confessing to her) And there’s a whole big bunch of money in the briefcase, under the couch. (Taggert gets it)

Taggert: Very impressive.

Kevin: Victor and I found this in Gordon’s desk at PCPD. (Presents the plastic bag with the “other” bullet)

Victor: We think forensics will find traces of Bordisso’s blood on it.

Taggert: (to Eve) Did you find out who paid the guy to frame Scott?

Eve: That is the one piece of information I didn’t get out of him.

Taggert: Oh well, thanks for leaving us one thing to do.

Kevin: Are you saying that Scott’s off the hook?

Taggert: Well all this evidence has to go back to the station, but it sure looks that way.

Eve, Victor & Kevin (together) YES! (They hug in celebration)

Taggert: I’m gonna get on this right away (he leaves).

Victor: You know, you two make quite a team.

Kevin: Well….

Eve: Oh c’mon you were right there with us, Victor? (It seems like Eve is noticing Victor’s “Tom Selleck” disguise for the first time)

Victor: Well I’m gonna go tell Mary the good news, in the meantime, may I suggest champagne, beluga caviar, Brahms concerto in D Major for violin and orchestra, perhaps Ravel’s Bolero?

Kevin: Brahms, beluga, Bolero? Sounds like a romantic evening to me.

Victor: Does it really? (He leaves)

Eve: Well? You gonna congratulate me?

Kevin: For what?

Eve: For my brilliant detective work!

Kevin: All right, all right, coercing that confession out of him was very impressive but the bullet that Victor and I found in Gordon’s desk would have done the same thing and we never would had to have come in to contact with the man.

Eve: Oh you are just jealous that I solved this crime all by myself.

Kevin: Um hmm - jealous that I wasn’t here to see you get into trouble all by yourself! What good would that tape do if you got killed for it?

Eve: Well, you have a point; if I were dead I wouldn’t be able to rub my brilliant detective work in your face.

Kevin: Well, I think we both learned something from this little adventure.

Eve: That we’re better off working together than we are splitting up and working apart.

Kevin: We’re definitely better together than we are apart.

Eve: I’m glad to hear you say that.

Kevin: When I found out that Gordon wasn’t in his office… I could just feel that something was wrong.

Eve: Just like I knew in my heart that you would be here – just like you always are. You know we have a bond Kevin, and we need to trust that. The one time I didn’t trust it, look what it got me…

Kevin: Uh uh, let’s not go there.

Eve: Where should we go?

Kevin: Let’s go home.

Bordisso’s hospital room

DV: You’re going to jail for a crime you didn’t commit.

Scott: That’s not gonna happen.

DV: Actually, I can identify. I got life without the woman I loved. I didn’t deserve that punishment. Now you get to see how it feels.

Scott: You don’t care. You don’t care how many lives you screwed up with your sick obsession.

DV: You finally got to pay the ultimate price for being your father’s son.

Scott: You’re right – I am going to pay the price for being my father’s son.

DV: Finally - agreement.

Scott: Did it ever occur to you in your sick, twisted world with all this revenge, that maybe, maybe you overlooked something?

DV: I didn’t overlook anything.

Scott: Yeah you did, something that might have changed your entire life.

DV: Please – enlighten me.

Scott: The guy who’s son you’ve been torturing is not Lloyd Bentley’s – he’s yours.

DV: What is that, some sort of gallows humor?

Scott: No it’s not funny.

DV: It’s not true.

Scott: Lloyd Bentley – the man who stole my mother away from you, is not my father. You are.

Commercial

DV: No – that’s impossible.

Scott: See, you won. You did win the game ‘cause I have to spend the rest of my life knowing that I’ve got your sick blood running through my veins.

DV: It cannot be true.

Scott: I’d rather rot in hell than to be true, but they ran the DNA test from our blood at the crime scene.

DV: Somebody made a mistake.

Scott: TWICE they did this! I had it done a second time because I thought it was one of your sick games.

DV: You’re lying. You’re just saying that to try and get back at me.

Scott: I don’t give a damn Bordisso, run your own test, see if I care.

DV: Meg would have told me!

Scott: Obviously she was ashamed that she ever slept with you.

DV: No - we had a love you’ll never understand.

Scott: No, you had nothing Bordisso, nothing.

DV: If this is true then we, you were…

Scott: You gave me life but you’re not my father. You’re nothing. You mean nothing to me. (Scott leaves)

DV is left staring at the ceiling with tears in his eyes

6th floor lobby

Lucy: Hey – so um, you told him, didn’t you? You OK? C’mere. (She hugs him) Tell you what, why don’t we just go home, OK? Go home.

Scott: That’s a good idea.

Eve, Kevin and Taggert get off the elevator

Eve: Scott – we have good news.

Lucy: Really? We could use some just about now.

Kevin: We found the cop who framed Scott for shooting DV.

Lucy: Doc – ohmigosh!

Scott: So where’s the guy now?

Taggert: He’s behind bars, thanks to your friends here.

Eve: Oh and Victor, too. He helped.

Scott: So if he’s in jail then…

Taggert: It’ll take a bit of time but yeah, looks like you’ll be cleared.

Scott: Good.

Lucy: That is so great. Thank you – it couldn’t have come at a more special time.

Kevin: Happy to do it.

Rachel comes out of the elevator, just as Taggert is leaving.

Rachel: Did I miss out on something?

Taggert: Scott Baldwin just got cleared of shooting David Bordisso.

Rachel: Scott – congratulations the detective just told me the good news – I’m very happy for you.

Scott: Thank you (the silence from the rest of the quartet is deafening).

Rachel leaves.

Scott: And um, thank you guys.

Eve: Eh, no big deal, don’t worry about it.

Scott: What are you talking about? You kept me out of jail and away from some of my more favorite foods!

Lucy: Thank you. (To Scott) Hey – c’mere you this is spectacular news! (They embrace)

Scott: Yeah but Lucy we both know – this is far from over.

Rachel is watching them – and the show is OVER.
