We begin today’s show with Lucy and Scott wrapping presents and putting toys together (in my notes I wrote Lucy and Kevin – the power of wishful thinking I guess.) Lucy is Christmas cheery and lovey-dovey but Scott is not. Lucy wonders if Scott’s un-Christmaslike spirit has anything to do with DV. A nurse reports that there is no change in DV’s condition. Too bad he has no family says she. Rachel announces that DV is being transferred to a long-term care facility in Florida – plenty of company there. At last, Rachel muses; DV will be taken care of in the manner that he deserves. She gets a phone call from Julie. Julie wants to know if Rachel has delivered Christina’s Christmas present. Not yet, but Rachel has wrapped it and tagged it as a present from Santa. Julie is happy that she will be giving her daughter a gift on her first Christmas.
Kevin has a flashback to Julie and Cooper kidnapping him and Eve last year (which apparently is not a crime. This is nice to know in case I ever want to hole someone in a wall and leave them there.) Eve thinks they can look forward to being ambushed again next year if Julie goes free. Matt calls – hey look it’s Matt! Christmas has come early! – and he’s back from Florida. No news on Ellen, but he does have something he wants to share about Rachel. He’s stopping by the Lighthouse with an early Christmas present for Kevin.
Scott tries to rush Lucy into going shopping, but Lucy knows he is just avoiding discussing DV. Scott doesn’t want to talk about him. He’s saved by the bell – the doorbell that is. It’s Rachel – bearing gifts. She says she is spreading Christmas cheer. Lucy could tell she was full of it the second she walked in (gotta love that Lucy.) Scott has been very friendly to me, a smug Rachel points out. She tells them that Kevin testified yesterday, but poor Kevy had all that extra baggage that hurt his testimony. Lucy thinks she came to gloat. Actually Rachel came by to tell Scott DV is being taken to Florida today. He is not going to come out of his coma anytime soon. Great replies Scott, it’s good and hot in Florida. Oh – one more thing. Rachel hands Lucy a Christmas card Julie sent them. It talks about how good Scott and Lucy were to take in a child in their hearts. Scott knows what Julie wants for Christmas. Lucy knows too – it’s forgiveness. And Lucy doesn’t seem to think that’s too far-fetched. Maybe it’s time to give her the benefit of the doubt (and maybe not.) Scott believes the card is nonsense.
Kevin worries that when the jury looks at Julie they don’t see a serial killer. Kris Kringle (aka Matt) enters. He couldn’t find Ellen so he asked questions about Rachel. It seems she was professional enough, lived alone, very few friends. And then he came back to Port Charles and found a manila envelope waiting for him – he hands it to Kevin. It’s a patient file but the name has been blackened out. Matt tells Eve that it doesn’t matter he didn’t find Ellen, they had no future together anyway. He made a mistake by opening up old wounds and chasing after her. It seems like Rachel’s patient was in a cult – and Rachel was hired to deprogram her. Matt has a million patients to see and leaves. Kevin thinks reviewing the file can help him figure out how Rachel Locke works. Charlene brings Christina and Serena home. They have bought an angel to put on top of the tree, which Lucy does. Lucy announces that everything is perfect (gee – if that’s not tempting fate I don’t know what is.)
Rachel calls Julie and tells her mission was accomplished. Julie is so happy she is near tears. Rachel informs her the Christmas card went over well, especially with Lucy. Julie thanks Rachel for telling her what to write. Rachel wants Julie to continue to do everything she tells her to (you don’t think Rachel has control issues do you?). DV is being wheeled out. Scott watches him for a second, and then watches as DV is wheeled into the elevator. (Bye bye DV. Until we meet again. Maybe next time you can stay a while longer.)
Lucy is asleep on the couch and dreams a dream. Christina and she are all in white. Julie appears – an angel – in white and gold (not much of a stretch there – LOL). Julie tells Lucy not to be afraid. She says Christina is precious. Do you want to hold her, the normally bright Lucy asks? Julie does – and coos about how sweet and innocent Christina is (what a coincidence –those are the words everyone uses to describe me.) Lucy agrees and wants Christina back and Julie hands her back to Lucy. Thanks for letting me hold her, says Julie, I am glad I came. Me too replies Lucy. Scott comes in the Firehouse, waking Lucy up. He saw DV being carted away. Scott goes on to say DV was without tricks, without power, a man that wasted his life. Lucy tells Scott about her Julie-dream. Nightmare asks Scott? No – very peaceful insists Lucy. She points to the angel Serena bought and says Julie was dressed like one too. And that white means purity and innocence is a theme in her Julie-dreams. Scott knows what Lucy feels about dreams but – a dream is a dream is a dream Lucy finishes. Scott is happy the family is back on track and DV nor Julie has a place in their lives.
Rachel receives another phone call. Libby? You’ve been so hard to find says the voice. There is a reason for that, snarls Rachel, quit calling me! The voice tells Rachel they are family but Rachel yells that they are not and demands to be left alone before she hangs up the phone. Visibly upset, Rachel reaches in a cabinet for a doll, and lies down while stroking the doll’s hair – the very picture of mental health. Rachel’s patient went on a crime spree, explains Kevy to Evie, and there was lots of violence involved, including murder. Rachel convinced the mystery patient that she was not actually involved, that she had just witnessed all of the events while in a trauma-like state. And it worked, Rachel convinced a jury her patient was innocent and the patient was set free. And Kevin will be damned if he lets Rachel do it again (way to go my Kevy!). Kevin and Eve agree it is very important to find out Rachel’s patient name and find out if she was as innocent as Rachel claimed she was. Apparently Rachel has a history of helping violent criminals go free.
THE END
And Merry Christmas everyone!
