At GH, Karen tells Frank that Neil will be starting on the new chemo protocol. She also lets him know that it is all due to Joe. Frank reassures her that he and Courtney will tell Joe that Frank is Neil's father when the time is right. Courtney comes along and can tell that Karen and Frank were talking about something private. When she asks questions, Karen starts to answer, but Frank interrupts her. It is obvious to Courtney that something is going on. Later, Karen and Courtney are alone. Karen tells Courtney she regrets being on the road that night. Courtney says that neither of them should have been on the road. Karen expresses surprise that Courtney would say that. Courtney tells her not to expect a friendship between them. Karen says she'll settle for a truce. Courtney says she'll stay out of Karen's way. She'd appreciate it if Karen stayed out of hers.
At Ferncliff, Julie, Chris, Scott and Rachel talk about the jury requesting to see testimony. Scott explains that usually means the jury is going for a conviction. Julie wishes that Scott would believe she is innocent. Chris and Julie are not happy with Scott's lack of optimism. Rachel explains that it is Scott's job to prepare them for every possible scenario. She reminds Julie that they are all on her side. Chris has some words with Scott. Scott gets disgusted with his attitude and leaves. Rachel says that when she is finished with Scott, he will be Julie's biggest supporter. When Chris and Julie are alone, she jokes about getting rid of Scott. She doesn't want to spend the rest of her life in a cell and away from Christina. Chris admits he'd like to see Scott hit by a bus, but suggests that Julie curb her homicidal tendencies. Julie doesn't like the fact that her future is in the hands of twelve strangers. Chris tells her not to worry. She still has him, and he won't let anything happen to her. They've done everything legally so far. He says that when you play by the rules and it doesn't work, you should make up a new set of rules. Julie wishes she had escaped when she had the chance. Chris finally decides that the best thing to do is to clear Julie of the murder. That is the only way they can lead a normal life. Julie says that maybe they can frame Kevin. Psychotics run in his family. Chris reminds Julie that she is wealthy. Maybe it's time to do some jury tampering. All they need is for one juror to be on their side.
Neil is walking in the snow. He is remembering hearing Karen telling Frank that Joe is not Neil's father. He looks tired and weak. He sits down on a park bench.
Joe is working on the bone marrow drive. Frank comes along and they discuss Kevin becoming Neil's therapist. Joe tells Frank how much he appreciates Frank's being there for Neil. When Frank originally bought expensive gifts for Neil, Joe was mad, but now he realizes it was done out of love for Neil. He remembers all the things Frank did for him when he was a kid. They go to join Courtney, Mary and Karen. It's time for Neil's chemo and nobody has seen him. Joe and Frank tell Courtney that they think he needs a therapist. Courtney disagrees. Neil has had a therapist in the past and it doesn't help him. Joe reminds her that Neil received counselling when he was much younger. Courtney gets defensive. She says it's her job as Neil's mother to help him when he needs it. Karen joins the discussion and says that sometimes it is best to talk to someone who is not a family member. Courtney tells her to mind her own business. She reminds Karen of what they spoke about before. Karen says she is talking as Neil's doctor. Joe says he has a right to decide what Neil needs as much as Courtney does. He is Neil's father. Courtney gets more and more emotional. She knows better than Kevin Collins what Neil has been through. Mary interrupts. Neil can't be found. Courtney is afraid that he went outside. She dreads what might happen if he did because he has the sniffles and his resistance is low. Everyone tries to calm Courtney down. They'll look in the cafeteria. They'll page him. Courtney can sense something is wrong. Joe urges her not to worry. He says that Neil knows the do's and don't's.
Scott talks to Lucy on the phone. She is still at Aunt Charlene's helping with the aftermath of the fire. Rachel comes to see him. She is worried about Chris and Julie. They were upset when Scott talked about a conviction. They seem desperate now. She suggests they order dinner and discuss the case. Scott knows she's up to something and asks her what she wants. She plays coy. Scott wants to know why she has been so buddy-buddy, especially in front of Julie and Chris. She says she wants an intelligent man to be on her side. She tells him that she told a lie. She wasn't sorry that she kissed him. She wasn't then and she isn't now. Scott explains that he is very happy with Lucy.
Neil is still sitting on the park bench. He takes a photo out of his backpack. It is of him, Courtney and Joe. He rips it up and throws it in the snow. A very sad look of betrayal comes over his face.
