Serena asks her father what happened to Kevin. Scott – and I admire him for not sugarcoating things for Serena – tells her the truth. Who would want to hurt Kevin Serena asks (really bad people Tammy answers ) Scott answers that the police think that Julie did it. But you helped free her, points out Serena, you said that if didn’t matter if she was guilty or not only that she got a fair trial. Yes, admits Scott, that is what I said. It does matter if Julie hurt Kevin replies Serena. Scott looks like he is ready to beat himself up.

Matt – and I am glad my Doc is in such very good hands (and nice hands they are too) – asks Eve if there has been any signs that Kevin is coming around. Eve yells at Matt for suggesting there may be long-term damage to Kevy. Talk to Kevin, Matt urges, do it now or you may regret it forever. Do you think the nurses’ will strike asks Eve?

Lucy tells Scott that Christina went back to sleep. Scott sadly tells Lucy that Serena thinks he freed a killer. But everyone is entitled to a good defense, counters Lucy, even Julie even now. This has gotta be killing you Lucy says Scott. You loved Kevin – you were going to marry him. Lucy admits this is tearing her up, but that she is not going to blame Scott, what she wants to focus on is helping Kevin. Scott can’t help Kevin but he can make sure Julie spends the rest of her life in prison. Lucy picks up a picture of Kevin and Christina - awwwwwwwww they look so darling together! – and holds it to her heart. Oh Doc, she whispers.

Alan points out to Eve that Kevin has been out of surgery for several hours. Eve insists that Kevin will wake up. Try to get through to him, urges Alan. He then talks to Karen. Karen insists that it – whatever it may be – is the right thing to do, no matter what the consequences. Eve tells Kevin that they all think I should talk to you. It should be easy, being that I am such a blabbermouth. But you always listened to me – you heard what I was really saying. Eve takes Kevin’s hand and holds it against her heart. Do you hear it? She asks Kevin who is still unresponsive. You are beautiful – strong – pure she tells Kevin. It’s like the warmest blanket that wraps itself around my soul and holds me no questions asked. Come back to me, she begs Kevin. (Even this diehard K/L’er admits it was a very nice scene – but hold on!) You are not going anywhere Eve tells Kevin. You promised me. And I am holding you to your promise. Kevin still lies there motionless. (Rough day for Jon – all those lines)

Karen visits Joe who has been busy memorizing the cable TV lineup. Why are you here he asks Karen? Joe’s hearing is Monday and Karen wants to speak up for him getting reinstated. Joe wishes she wouldn’t, he doesn’t want to owe her. I love you replies Karen. Joe doesn’t think they can expect things to be like they were. We can find a way past this, insists Karen. I wouldn’t know where to begin Joe hedges. If we both want it enough – no answer from Joe.

Lucy tells Eve she has something for Kevin. A CD player. She hopes the music can soothe him. She also has something for Eve – she went by the Lighthouse and brought her back clothes, makeup, perfume (isn't it nice seeing all the adults behave so – adultlike?) It’s very thoughtful of you, admits Eve, but doesn’t change the way that I feel about you and Scott helping Julie. Lucy didn’t think it would, but knew Doc would want someone taking care of Eve the way that Eve is taking such good care of Kevin. Lucy asks Eve to tell Kevin that she said hi. Eve asks Lucy to do her a favor – keep Kevin company while she went to check on some tests (very good of Eve). Deniece blocks Lucy’s path – family only. It’s okay Eve responds, she is family.

Dara is happy to watch Scott eat crow. She plans to nail Julie’s skinny little – you get the idea. Scott asks Dara, almost casually, if she has shot holes through the Cooper-did-it defense. Have you made sure he was where he was supposed to be?

Karen tells Joe she still thinks about him all the time. Joe is scared – scared that Neil will die, scared that he will no longer be able to practice medicine, scared that what is wrong between the two of them can’t be fixed. Joe loves Karen and misses her – but he needs time. Karen has never been rejected so nicely – and passionately. No time for passion, Karen’s beeper goes off. Guess I’ll be seeing you she tells Joe on her way out the door. Sure, Joe replies, see you around somewhere. He grabs his coat and hat. Where are you going asks Karen? With you.

Are you trying to slip me information asks Dara? Because I have the tape, I have Julie’s coat covered with blood and dumped – appropriately – in the dumpster and I don’t need your help.

Lucy sits by Kevin’s bedside, music playing in the background. Are you trying to scare me she asks him, because it’s working and now I am mad. I need you to wake up Doc. You are capable of anything. You are – what is the word? One of those fancy words you are always saying when something simple would do. When two people love each other as much as we do – Lucy hesitates – did (do says Tammy) – they know absolutely everything about each other. Tenacious! That was the word. Fancy word for stubborn and Lucy calls Kevin both. There are people that need you desperately – Eve, Victor – me. I know we’re done – I know you love Eve and I love Scott – but you have a place in my heart that will never change. Eve watches through the door. Wake up for me, Lucy begs Kevin. Lucy kisses Kevin’s hand, tears flowing down her cheek – and with that very beautiful moment the show is –
