I am sad – no the word is heartbroken – to report that this was a K’Eve free day. I will struggle through the update as best as I can, all teary eyed and blubbery. This is such a calamity.

And moving on –

Lucy is – as it turns out – practicing a speech. A speech about how there are no accidents, only opportunities and how the cosmos is at work here (as it is always – like the good cosmos it is) and how baby boomers would really love natural problem solvers for babies and how good she is with babies and cosmetics and how she is even willing to let Donatella have top billing. Christina is suitably impressed.

Courtney is impressed with something else altogether – Frank’s blue jean clad backside (and I must admit I have admired it a time or two myself). She compares it to art and then Frank turns her on with sexy words like inhalation and bunion and biopsy. That charmer. Frank and Courtney kiss. Neil is playing with a handheld game when his wheelchair pusher deserts him. Bravely Neil wheels himself – right into Courtney and Frank’s play area.

Donatella confuses Matt with a patient and then tells him she hires the “differently abled.” She has an itch than no orderly can scractch – she’s ticklish. Matt swears to be gentle (now what fun is there in that? ). She giggles as people in the hallway stop and stare.

Scott wants to know if the nurses want more nurses hired at the expense of doctors. The nurses contend they are on strike for the patients. They mention they know that a post-op patient was misplaced.

Neil would like some of Grandma’s pancakes; Courtney leaves on a pancake finding mission. Frank tells Neil he will steal Mary’s secret recipe and make him pancakes every morning when they move in together. Neil nods, but it clearly unhappy. Ronnie Price – a reporter that apparently walks the sleazy beat – tries to get information on Donatella from the nurses. He has heard she faked the accident to get back at a dumping boyfriend. Neither the nurses nor Joe give him the information he is willing to pay for.

Joe tells Courtney he will make and bring over chocolate chip pancakes for Neil (and if you could just swing by my place...). Julie is in total charge and sends Alison to work. Lucy arrives with Christina who is teething – poor baby. Julie makes s Christina laugh which makes Lucy happy. Scott is busy and Lucy has an errand – Julie magnanimously agrees to watch Christina. Lucy – desperate to get her mission accomplished – agrees. Ronnie arrives with flowers but Lucy recognizes him, snatches the flowers away, and sends the broker-but-not-wiser reporter away. Julie tells Christina the story of Horace the afraid of water frog (kissed any frogs lately Julie?) Christina doesn’t seem to be too enthralled, but maybe that’ s just me.

Courtney and Frank kiss some more. When Frank mentions he needs to actually work, Courtney wants to show him a lost patient. Donatella is sniping at Karen when Lucy arrives. Karen tells Lucy that Donatella is not to be disturbed – Lucy promises to keep everyone away – Karen meant by Lucy. Lucy assures Karen that the chief of staff gave her permission to be there. Karen leaves. Lucy assures Donatella that she is in a good hospital, but Donna (as Lucy takes to calling her) has a headache and wants cappuccino. Lucy tells Donna that she is a first class cappuccino maker (can’t you see Kevin’s face????) and leaves but not before she tells Donatella that she has the best idea since thong bikinis. Donatella looks underwhelmed.

Neil eats his pancakes and asks Joe why his Grandma can’t come see him – because of the picket line explains Joe. Neil does not want to move, even when Joe tells him Frank and Courtney are nuts about Neil (or just plain nuts – take your pick.) Joe hugs Neil. Courtney drags Frank to a closet near Dr. Neumann’s office where the patient is nowhere to be found, and neither are their shirts after they are pulled off in passion play.

Dr. Boardman is being his naturally snide self and the strike meeting turns into a yell session. Scott bangs on the table and suggests they start over, as grown ups this time. (Okay when Scott is the voice of reason – not to mention a grown-up, I get scared.)

Courtney and Frank make out (Frank shirtless – I am a happy camper.) Lucy puts on Christina’s shoes as Julie watches. Joe snaps at Karen cause Julie is working and he isn’t. Scott takes a break from negotiations to find out what mischief Lucy is into. Joe walks in on Frank and Courtney and becomes self-righteous. (Gee, isn’t’ this the guy that made it on the roof of the hospital? Pot/kettle/black)

Okay – previews – don’t read if you don’t want to know.

Donatella asks if Julie and Karen know who she is and Julie parrots the same question back to her. Courtney wants to move in with Frank that very night. Rachel wants what is best for the hospital and Kevin points out that if it is what is best for Rachel too, so much the better.

And that is it!
