Port Charles Update for Friday, 17-Mar-2000

Lucy promises the nurses and their kids free makeovers at Jacks Cosmetics. She and Scott talk about the strike and Donatella Stewart and how she’s mean and how she needs to stay at the hospital so they don’t get bad press. Lucy offers to keep “Dona” at GH. Scott knows something’s up, but he lets it slide.
Joe watches strike coverage on the TV as the nurses come into the RR. Mary and Joe talk about St. Patrick’s Day and the luck of the Irish, which they didn’t seem to have. A reporter makes a deal with Joe—report the nurses side of the strike and Joe gets him into the hospital to see “Dona.”
Chris can’t find the chart for Camille Owens and Matt jokes—“First you lose the patient and now the chart?” Eve asks if anyone remembers sleep and Matt says “Yeah—what we don’t get until the strike is over!” Eve almost falls asleep in a pile of trays and yells “I’m awake!”
Lucy visits “Dona”, who is having Allison pack up her stuff so she can leave GH. Lucy does her best to convince her to stay, and gets her to consider it.
At the negotiation table, Scott is trying to settle things between the nurses, but it’s not working. They take a break and Lee lectures Scott. Lee doesn’t want to give a little, but Scott does.
Eve goes into Kevin’s room and tells him, “Don’t tell anyone where I am, and I will make you a very happy man.” He looks at her interestedly.
Scott goes back into the room, where he finds a note on his chair from Hector, who wants to meet him in secret.
Kevin and Eve are talking enticingly in his room, when Chris comes in to rest. He says, “Collins, if I don’t get some sleep someone’s gonna die—and I’m afraid it’s gonna be me.”
Karen finds a girl on Pedes who wants Dr. Joe—she settles for Matt.
The nurses are at the RR, and they hear Ronny Price (the reporter) on the TV sharing their side of the story. Joe promises him “Dona.”
Lucy is still trying to convince “Dona” to stay, and tells her that she wants to merge their companies. “Dona” insults her idea and her personality, but then calls an assistant on her cell phone asking for all the information she can get on marketing baby products.
Karen finds Chris and Eve in Kevin’s room. Eve offers to scoot over and let Karen take a nap, too, but she goes to talk to Alan instead. She tells Alan they need more hands because if they don’t get some sleep someone’s gonna make a mistake on a patient, and she wants Joe back. Alan reluctantly lets her bring Joe back as a nurse.
Alan tells Lucy to baby-sit Donatella Stewart because she’s the only one who can keep her happy. He finds Ronny Price sneaking in to talk to “Dona” as an orderly, and orders Lucy to watch him until security gets there.
Allison tells Kevin, “The guy down the hall needs a doctor. Something about a piggyback. Kind of kinky if you ask me.” Kevin assures her that someone will be there momentarily, and glances at the sleeping Chris and Eve. He takes out his IV and goes to help.
Karen is telling Joe about his opportunity to come back as a nurse, and he hesitates about being a scab and going against the nurse’s strike. Karen gets upset and says, “You know, I give up. Every time I think I know what you want, you change the rules. How can I play that game, let alone win?” She storms out of the RR.
Scott meets Hector secretly. The nurses want Lee of the case.
Scenes: Scott tells Lee about the secret meeting; Joe asks if being a scab will prove his dedication; Eve wants respect.
