Busy, busy day in Port Charles land. And not a very good one for Rachel.
Speaking of the devil, er, Rachel she begins today’s episode by asking Allison for messages. Allison replies that she has heard about the show Rachel’s Mom gave at Kevin and Eve’s wedding. (Imagine the high point of your day is being dissed by a teenager – a blonde teenager at that.) Allison would have loved to been there to see it. Gail comes up to Rachel and Rachel immediately begins a long litany of how innocent she is and how professional and how Kevin has no room to complain and.... Gail finally gets a word in edgewise. All she wanted to do was offer Rachel help with her mom. Rachel is appropriately abashed. She thanks Gail very much but insists Mom is a-okay.
Speaking of people who are about to experience bad days, Courtney and Frank are discussing the joys of making up. Courtney swears to Frankie-baby that she is only thinking of Christina – and their – best interest. Frank hopes Courtney will understand he will love Courtney and Neil no matter what. Courtney knows that now. Frank thinks the best part of all this is Courtney’s honesty, he believes they have reached a new level in their relationship. Courtney smacks a few nails deep into her coffin by agreeing with him. She has the good sense to look a tad worried. In another “Can This Marriage Be Saved” moment, Scott and Lucy discuss Serena’s nightmares. Lucy thinks maybe the visits to Claire caused them, reminding Serena of loss and abandonment. Which gives Scott the perfect opening to point out that being forgotten at school probably didn’t help matters. Lucy replies that she keeps saying she is sorry. Scott stands up because he doesn’t want to argue with Lucy, but reminds her that what they do affects their children. He tells her he will pick up Serena after school. Scott leaves; leaving Lucy feeling a bit abandoned herself. By the way – early Nurses’ Ball ad – Lucy is wearing the nifty 2000 T-shirt.
Jamal and Allison remember each other. He asks directions to “Renee’s” room. Rachel’s bad day worsens when Boardman heads out of the elevator and gleefully makes a beeline for her. Well, well, well says he, there she is - the life of the party. Rachel thinks he is referring to her mother, but Mark-y is discussing her. He heard she blew the roof off the joint from – well – everyone says he with a very smug smile. He knows Rachel can really let loose by the way she came on to him. That’s not the way the stiff Rachel remembers it (funny – that’s how I remember it.) Well hon’, replies the having-way-too-much-fun-for-daytime Mark, that’s the way it happened. It’s a pity that you didn’t find it more satisfying. Rachel agrees that satisfying was the word she used. Too bad, Mark-y says, I bet you could use a friend right about now. Stranger things can happen; he finishes with as he strolls out of the view of the camera. Gotta love a guy with that much oily charm.
Claire’s father, Colonel Wright, is waiting for Scott in front of Claire’s room. It seems ole Colonel is from the Marine Corps. Col hopes that Scott talked sense into Claire, they are not a family of quitters. Scott has a different agenda; he wants the Col to let Claire go. Colonel Daddy calls Scott an ambulance chaser (like any lawyer would really consider that to be an insult). Scott replies that Claire knows how she wishes to die. Col says that it is up to him. Scott urges him to respect her wishes. Col snaps that no one wishes to die. Scott sadly reminds him that no proxy is going to keep Claire alive. Colonel is obviously hoping for a miracle. Scott hopes Col won’t let Claire die alone.
My fav crafty GH lawyer has bribed those pesky elves again and is visiting Frank. He wants to go to court and find out what his rights are, Christina is happy with Lucy and Scott but he doesn’t want Chris and Julie to win. Alexis agrees to file that day, but warns Frank not to let anyone know so as not to give Chris and Julie ammunition time. Alexis leaves, Lucy has been watching very unhappily from afar. She approaches Frank and asks about the meeting. She is clearly upsettish when Frank only vaguely states he wants what is best for Christina.
Julie happily informs Chris that the social worker is a bit peeved at our Miss Lucy for showing up at her visitation and that Martin says there is a good chance the adoption will be overturned. Rachel, who should know better considering the day she is having, butts in with her two-cents worth of happy-for-Julie. Rachel tells Julie that things have been crazy (talk about leaving yourself wide open.) Really, says Julie, why is that? Chris wonders if Rachel has been spending times in the Looney Tunes chat-room (also know as Soap Zone Online). Julie wonders if Rachel has been chasing her dead mother. (She shoots – she scores.) Rachel comes up with lame excuses that neither the departing Chris (beeper) or Julie buy. Julie thinks Rachel only took her case so that she – Julie – would kill Kevin. Rachel denies this, swearing only wanting the best for Julie. Julie knows Rachel worked with DV and is very unhappy about it. Julie calls Rachel a joke, and not a very good one. Ouch.
Jamal tells Valerie (a.k.a. Renee) that he has seen the baby and the baby is something else. Valerie (much sweeter than someone else I could name by the same name.... LOL) thanks Jamal for all his help. Chris enters the room and snaps at Jamal. Valerie tries to defend Jamal but Jamal calls Chris “Dr. Attitude” and tells him to have himself a drink. Jamal tells Chris to think about it as he leaves the room. Chris appears to be thinking – but nothing is clicking (no comment.) Scott knows that Colonel was against the Vietnam War because it was a war that could not be won. Smart Colonel sees where Scott is heading with this. Scott knows what it is like to lose someone – he lost someone he loved very much, but finally had to admit it was a war he could not win. Colonel doesn’t like Scott, but says that he is good. Scott responds that the Colonel doesn’t have to like him (I am being so good here because I haven’t said any of the thousand snarky comments going through my mind), the Colonel opens the door and Claire is in pain. The Colonel goes to her, falls on his knees, Claire is in tears, they hold on to each other. Scott watches sadly for a moment and leaves.
Lucy bursts into Courtney’s house yelling about her wasted $20,000. Courtney weakly replies that maybe Frank was telling Alexis it was a no-go but Lucy demands that Courtney make sure that Frank does the right thing before storming out again. Courtney has the same doomsday face as Rachel has been sporting all day. Frank and Courtney are now sitting at a table together (my how time flies when....), Frank tells Courtney that he intends to have a place in his daughter’s life. Courtney wants no snap decisions, Frank promises. Courtney, no child forgetter she, goes off to pick up Neil. Jamal happily thanks Frank for giving Val a different name and helping him out with Chris. Frank admits to no love lost between him and Ramsey (no – really?). Jamal tells Frank that he saw Chris put something in Frank’s “hottie’s” drink. Lucy is waiting for Scott. He tells her Claire’s father is taking Claire home. Lucy thinks Scott has done an amazing thing, that he is not an easy man but a good one. They exchange mutual “I am sorrys”. Scott tells Lucy she has been a great mother, all they have to do is put the girls first all the time. Lucy admits she is trying, but that it is hard sometimes. Scott knows.
Frank pushes the heck out of Chris (like that is hard) – why did you try to drug Courtney? And with Frank all man-ly – the show is
Over.
Tomorrow’s sneak peeks – Gail and Karen pick up several things, including a stray pill or too which Gail hands to Karen. Joe warns Frank not to put too much faith in Courtney.
