It was a GREAT Kevin/Lucy day today. Great. How I miss the best couple in daytime – ever! Oh – and Frank and Courtney weren’t half bad either.

Our very good day starts with Kevin (which is always a very good way to start the day.) He leaves another message for Lucy Baldwin at the hotel, looks worried. We then step right into the Twilight Zone to a bride, complete with veil and making a lovely toast to her mother. The mother – it turns out – is Lucy who hugs a grown-up (and very pretty) Christina telling her a mother always worries, even when her daughter is grown and married. There is knocking on the door, even though they are outside and well – there is no door. Lucy turns around and asks someone to stop the racket; they are ruining her lovely mother/daughter moment. There is more banging as next we see Lucy on the couch at her hotel, looking sad and a bit disoriented.

Speaking of someone not looking her best, Rachel answers the phone. Kevin informs her she sounds terrible and that her client is there to see her. Rachel asks him to ask Gail to cover for her, and when Kevy informs her Gail is not there, asks him to. Kevin is amazed since he thought she didn’t want him within three counties of her patients. Rachel insists she is just temporary down from something she ate. The ever helpful Kevin explains that no one should ever eat shellfish in months that do not have a “R” in it (write that down.) Rachel is duly impressed with his advice.

Frank and Neil are at Joe’s playing basketball. Neil thinks maybe he shouldn’t go to camp. Frank realizes Neil is worried about him. Neil, what a lovely child, says he would give up camp if it would help Frank. Frank insists that knowing that Neil is happy will help him. Frank explains it will be a long shot to find Christina. Neil has hope – Serena and her dad left once and eventually did come back.

The banger of Lucy’s door turns out to be Courtney. Lucy wonders if Courtney is having trouble reading the “Do Not Disturb” sign. Courtney needs to talk to Lucy. Courtney hands Lucy the money – minus the camp money which she plans to repay back also. Courtney apologizes quite sincerely (see she can be grownup). Lucy REALLY wants Courtney to leave her alone. Courtney knows how Lucy feels. Lucy snarls that Courtney doesn’t know a damn thing about what she feels. Courtney admits she doesn’t, because Lucy helped save her child. Courtney wishes she could give Lucy’s child back. Lucy does too. Courtney hopes Lucy finds Christina. Lucy gives Courtney the money back, she doesn’t want it. Courtney doesn’t either. Lucy insists she use it for Neil then, hug Neil, tell Neil how much she loves him. You can never tell a child that too many times. Courtney tells Lucy to keep fighting for Christina.

Neil and Frank are still basketballing. Neil hopes Courtney will know where they are. Neil informs Frank that he and Courtney fight loud, and he thinks it is all about Christina. Frank says they are simply trying to work things out. Frank and Neil play around some, Courtney appears. So does Joe. Joe and Neil go inside while Courtney talks to Frank. She tells him she went to Lucy to give the money back and that Lucy is a mess. Courtney wishes she could help Lucy. Courtney tells Frank that Lucy insisted she keep the money for Neil but Courtney has had a realization (LIGHT BULB). Courtney now knows that all the money in the world wouldn’t help Neil if he didn’t have Frank. And she feels the same way. She again asks for another chance. Let me help you. Let me love you, she asks.

Rachel, looking way terrible, tells Livvie that it is just a flu bug out of season and that she will be fine and will be “there” and looks forward to seeing her again. Lucy, not looking so hot herself, ignores the new door knocking. Kevin lets himself in. Lucy orders him not to turn on the light and then demands to know how he got the key. Kevin explains that he told the manager he was worried about Lucy, no one had seen her for two days. Well Lucy feels seen so she orders Kevin to leave. Kevin is not leaving (go Kevy!). Lucy says she will go then. Kevin thinks that is a good idea; they could take a walk. As he draws the curtains he explains it is a beautiful day. Lucy is not admiring the light; she doesn’t want Kevin to be a shrink. Go now, she again insists. Kevin picks up a tape – Christening? (Cause you know Kevy has such fond moments of that day.) Lucy says no; it’s Christina’s birthday party. Kevin has never seen Lucy like this – he is very concerned. Lucy admits she has never been like this. Kevin has never seen Lucy give up without a fight before – it’s not you. Lucy feels like Kevin is shrinking her. Kevin is only being a friend. Lucy replies that her good friend would realize what she was going through and her good friend would leave her alone.

Kevin would, but there are several other people on that ride with Lucy. Lucy doesn’t want to hear about Scott. (Have you noticed that when I really really like the couple, I get almost every line of dialogue? LOL). Kevin explains that Scott is in a lot of pain. Lucy can’t hear about Scott’s pain or about his guilt. In fact, she can’t hear anything about Scott (can’t say I blame her.) Kevin wants to know what Lucy does want. Lucy wants answers from her Doc; she wants to know if she did something wrong. Kevin tells Lucy she did the best she could. Lucy cries that it is not good enough. It’s not.

Joe wonders if Neil is all set for camp, tells him Frank will be all right while he is gone because Joe is always right (Ha Joe – that job is already taken. I am the one always right. Well, usually.) Courtney tells Frank she has tried everything she can think of. Frank is “so” tired. Courtney starts to walk away, but Franks continues that he can’t fight Courtney any more. Big hug – they are now reconciled! Yes! Frank informs Courtney he does not give up easily (which is a very good thing.) They kiss.

Speaking of kissing (okay just in my dreams – and hopefully in a few months), Lucy tells Kevin that she knows she is not perfect and knows that Kevin knows she is not. Kevin tells Lucy she is not being punished. But that is what it feels like to Lucy. All Lucy wanted to be was a Mom, but every time she tries it doesn’t work. She asks if Kevin remembers losing their baby, remembers what it felt like. Kevin replies – like it was yesterday. Lucy says that it hurt so much, didn’t it? Kevin heartfeltedly replies that it hurt right to his soul. Lucy says, okay then. Imagine the baby lived, imagine holding her, loving her, bringing you happiness. Kevin knows that, he saw her. She is a wonderful mother to her two girls. Lucy sadly replies that she wasn’t good enough. No, shouts our hero, no. He says that Lucy made it look so easy. It was easy, says Lucy, loving children is so easy. She speaks of their unconditional, sweet, wonderful love. Kevin echoes something he once told Lucy, saying the love lights up all the dark places. Lucy says yes, it was the love she had been searching for. Kevin tells her to keep the light on, keep it on Serena, keep it on for Christina for when she comes back. Lucy tearfully replies she can’t. She can’t. Kevin knows the reason, because it hurts too much.

Lucy thinks that Doc doesn’t know, but Kevin can imagine. Lucy wonders how? Kevin was there too. He was in that place that was so black that he couldn’t find the surface. He knows what it feels like to drown. Lucy needs Kevin to go, now. Kevin isn’t going, she was there for him, in fact she led him out of that dark place. It’s his turn. Lucy can’t ask Kevin to do that; she can’t put him through that. Why would you want to, she asks? Kevin has no choice (sigh) that’s what friends do. Lucy wants to know why. Kevin cares about Lucy, Lucy matters to him (have I mentioned I love Kevin?) He says the Lucy is hurting and feels alone and abandoned and she is not.

Lucy cries that Christina is gone, her baby is gone. Kevin wonders if the rest of “us” doesn’t matter then. Lucy again orders Kevin to get out. Go. Kevin is almost shouting now, so very intense, saying that Lucy doesn’t have to be alone, that she doesn’t have to sit there and watch the video all alone in the dark over and over. Lucy is crying, yes she does. She throws the tape across the room. Kevin reaches out, taking Lucy by the shoulder, asking her if she knows what happens when she got comfortable with the pain, she will end up in a place she can’t get out of. She will drown. Lucy insists that “Doc” doesn’t know – that he has no idea. Kevin replies that he doesn’t. Lucy cries that maybe no one should have to know, no one should have to feel this. Kevin, finally, takes Lucy in his arms and holds her as she cries, head on his shoulders.

Sigh.
