Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 29-Aug-2000

Alison is in her padded room. Jamal watches her through the window in the door as she holds herself and rocks back and forth. He tries to open the door, but he can't.

Gail asks Kevin and Eve what happened with Alison. When they tell her about Rachel's involvement, she is appalled. Rachel comes along and Gail tells her that her job is on the line. Rachel defends herself by saying that she saw a patient in need and put the patient's welfare before protocol. She thinks any good doctor would have done the same. Rachel says that Kevin's method of suppressing memories is more responsible for Alison's condition. As Gail is reprimanding Dr. Locke for giving medication to another doctor's patient, Chris comes along in time to eavesdrop on what is going on. Gail says she will tell Alan what happened. When Rachel and Gail walk away, Chris asks Kevin and Eve what is wrong with Rachel. Eve tells Chris that Rachel brought on all her problems by herself. Eve thinks Alison needs to see Jamal, but Kevin disagrees. Eve tells Kevin that she may go to the station to see Frank. Kevin takes the staircase, which seems to be the new and inexpensive set design, and runs into Jamal who is in a clever disguise - a hat. Jamal begs Kevin to see Alison. Kevin reprimands him for his poor judgment in the recent past. He lets him know that Frank was arrested. Jamal is sure he can help Alison. We see Kevin beginning to soften. Kevin brings Jamal into Alison's room. She is in her own little world and doesn't turn to look at Jamal. Jamal even takes off his hat to make it easier for Alison to recognize him . Kevin leaves them alone. Alison keeps bobbing her head and looking at the ceiling. Jamal apologizes to her. He says he messed up. He realizes she wouldn't be like this if it wasn't for him. He lied to her but he was just trying to protect her. He calls her "baby" and holds her head.

Joe comes to Frank at the police station. He explains that Eve couldn't come because of Alison. When Frank asks about Neil, Joe tells him that Courtney said Frank was working a double shift. They talk aobut Frank's involvement with Jamal. Frank says Jamal does things out of the goodness of his heart. He doesn't regret helping Jamal and Alison. Later, Frank is released and he is surprised to find out that Joe paid his bail. They share a sweet moment when Joe explains he realizes what's important to him. Frank says he'll pay him back. Joe says he still owns half the house. He wants him to move back in. There is one catch - no fugitives in the attic.

Rachel tells Eve that she thinks she was justified in administering the medication to Alison. This whole thing is Kevin's fault. An amused Chris listens as Eve and Rachel go at it. After Eve walks away, Chris tells Rachel that he knows a way to ruin Kevin's career.

Frank arrives at GH. Eve tells him that Alison is in bad shape because of the medication that Rachel gave her. She also tells him that she hasn't heard from Jamal. They go to Alison's room, where Kevin is standing outside. Kevin tells them that Alison has a visitor. Eve's eyes light up as she asks "Jamal?"

Chris tells Rachel about "Charlie" and Kevin. Kevin has been treating her in her hotel room very late at night. Rachel asks if he has proof and Chris tells her that he has seen it. She asks Chris what's in it for him. He says that he really likes Charlie and that he wants to see Kevin pay for keeping Julie in Ferncliff. When she agrees to go after Kevin, he promises to provide information on Kevin, and after Rachel walks away, he says "and Livvie."
