Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 26-Dec-2000

At the lighthouse, Livvie gives Kevin a Christmas present. She says it replaces the one he broke. It's a mug that says World's Greatest Dad. She says she didn't make it, but the sentiments behind it are the same as the other one. Kevin hugs her. Victor enters. He looks very serious. He tells Kevin that there is no easy way to tell him, but he knows who killed Eve. It was a man named Jordan Harris. Victor's sources had linked him to Ian earlier. Kevin wants to find him. Victor leaves. Livvie tells Kevin that she realizes that he and Lucy are soulmates. She sees how Lucy lights up when he's around. Kevin thinks Lucy lights up over a lot of things. He asks Livvie to leave with him.

Lucy is reading her tarot cards at the Recovery Room. The first one is Deception. She rationalizes that her deception was ok because Kevin's trampy wife ran off with Ian. The next one is Destiny. She beams, saying it's a "cosmic thumbs-up from the universe." Alison serves her tea and says she's sorry that she missed Kevin's party. He helped her so much to get through her trauma with Cedric. Lucy sees Livvie and Kevin outside and rushes to be with them. Kevin says he is there to face what happened on that horrible day. He watches people acting happy inside the Recovery Room. He realizes that life goes on in spite of his loss. Lucy tries to validate his feelings, saying that the time he had with Eve was important to both. Livvie says she's so glad tht Lucy is in her father's life. She hugs Lucy and leaves. Lucy and Kevin talk about what a terrific kid she is. Kevin tells Lucy that Livvie was right- he's so lucky to have her in his life. Inside, Alison tells Jamal that she finds it a little sad that Kevin has semed to move on with Lucy. She always liked Eve and appreciated what Eve did for them. Back outside, Kevin tells Lucy that they are much more than friends. She has always been there for him and she always knows what to say and throws him a lifeline. She says she's just at the right place at the right time. Lucy calls it "Destiny." In a tender K&L moment, Kevin thanks Lucy for being her. Then he kisses her sweetly on the cheek as Lucy closes her eyes and holds her breath.

Eve is dreaming about when she and Ian were dancing when Ian wakes her up. She goes into the lab and sees that all of the notes are gone. Ian tells her that he got rid of everything. The formula is in his head. Eve can't believe he did that. Harris takes Ian into the next room and closes the door. Of course, Eve listens to their conversation and deduces that Ian has made some kind of deal with Harris. She confronts them, demanding to know what is going on. Ian doesn't want her involved. She insists she's staying. She won't go home. Harris is fine with that. When they are alone, Ian begs Eve to leave. She can go for help once she's in Port Charles. Eve refuses. She says they are a package deal. She won't let him commit suicide. He says he wants to live to see her again. They should come up with a password to use when she is safely home. Ian suggests the name of the drink she was having at Jake's - kamikaze. She still doesn't want to leave. He insists. She hugs him. Eve says she doesn't want to live, knowing she'll never see Ian again. Ian tells her not to give Harris the satisfaction of seeing her crumble. They hug again before Eve leaves.

Frank and Emilio bring an uncooperative patient, Ted, into the ER. They says he is a Desert Storm veteran suffering from Gulf War syndrome. He hates hospitals. He has an old wound on his leg. Joe tells Gabriela that Kevin was his doctor but he stopped seeing him six months ago. Ted tells Gabriela not to touch him. She opens his jacket and finds a grenade on him. Gabriela alerts Joe. Ted threatens to blow the place up. He walks out to the admitting area, followed by Gabriela and Joe, who are trying to calm him down. Frank sizes up what is happening and tries to calm him also. Colleen comes along, is startled and drops a tray. The loud noise sets Ted off. As he becomes enraged, Kevin enters and gives him military commands to make him stop. Just as it appears that Kevin has made progress with Ted, Lucy enters behind Ted, babbling about something to Kevin. Ted grabs her and holds the grenade to her head. Kevin tells Lucy not to move.
