Port Charles Update for Wednesday, 27-Dec-2000

A patient at the hospital (gulf war vet) is despondent at the holidays and has brought a hand grenade to blow everyone (and everything) up and is holding Lucy hostage. Kevin (in his infinite "psychiatric" wisdom) talks the man out of blowing everything and letting Lucy go. Kevin promises the man he will let nothing happen to him and will help him. Karen has pressed the emergency button at the nurses station and soon after the man releases Lucy and disables the grenade the cops arrive (the ever-present HE-MAN Garcia) and attempt to arrest the man. Kevin talks Garcia into letting the man go to the psych ward for 72 hours. The whole experience has reminded Gabby just how much she loves Joe, and I am getting the extreme impression something might be on the burner between Frank and Karen (just a guess-nothing confirmed). Kevin and Lucy leave the hospital and go back to the lighthouse where Lucy had prepared a candlelight dinner for them and decorated the lighthouse to help Kevin see he has more to live for, and life is not over now that Eve is gone (course, Lucy knows she isn't dead). Ian talks Eve into leaving Harris' place after he makes a deal with Harris to let Eve go in exchange for the cure. Eve is in the helicopter to leave and calls Ian and tells him (later) she is home and everything is ok. Then Ian admits to Harris there was no cure. They start fighting and ...enter EVE! She can't leave without Ian. Ian and Harris get into jostling match of fencing and Harris loses. As Ian and Eve are escaping they run into one of Harris's men, they beat him up and run. Harris' man comes to, calls for help and as Ian and Eve are in the chopper leaving and thinking they have made it, there is gunfire and Ian struggles to handle the chopper.
On the next Port Charles...Eve admits to Ian that she loves him!
