Port Charles Update for Friday, 5-Jan-2001

At the police station, Garcia is unsuccessfuly questioning the hit-and-run driver. She says she doesn't know Harris. He says she has a court-appointed lawyer. Scott enters. Garcia tells Scott that he won't want to take this case when he finds out about the details. Scott reads the report and sees that the victim is Eve. He doesn't understand. Eve is dead. Garcia tells him no. Eve is alive. Scott asks the driver what her name is, but she refuses to tell. Garcia tells Scott that Eve and Ian were not in the car when it exploded. Harris kidnapped them. The DNA tests were wrong. When he is alone with the driver, Scott grills her but she makes up one lie after another. When Scott starts getting loud, Garcia comes back in and takes Scott out of the room. He tells him that he thinks someone else should handle the case.

In the hospital cafeteria, Kevin tells Lucy that last night was beautiful but it has to be over. Lucy says "like hell it does." She reminds Kevin that she told him that she loved him. They are soulmates. Kevin says that Eve needs him. He can't walk away from her. He feels guilty because he didn't answer her knock at his door. Lucy has tears in her eyes. She demands to know "can you walk away from me?" Kevin admits that he can't turn off his feelings for her. He says his feelings for Eve are not just ones of commitment. They go way beyond that. Lucy says she understands. She believes that things will work out. Victor comes in and tells Kevin that the authorities say they will know soon who tampered with the DNA results. Kevin says it had to be someone with access to hospital computers. Lucy looks nervous. Victor says that the authorities found Harris' compound. There was blood and signs of a struggle, but no body. Lucy suggests that maybe the DNA results weren't changed at GH. Victor tells her that they know for sure that they were and hopefully the security tapes will reveal who did it. Lucy runs into Scott and tells him she could really use his help.

In Eve's hospital room, Ian is still keeping his bedside vigil. Eve is not awake, but he is telling her that he loves her and always has. They have a future together. He holds her hand and kisses it. Joe comes in. He cautions Ian to watch how he acts around Eve. People will guess his feelings. Joe senses that things changed while Eve and Ian were away together. He can tell by Ian's look that it was Eve who changed. Did she fall in love with Ian? They go outside Eve's room. Joe reminds Ian that Eve just got married. Ian says he knows that Eve loves him. He has been fighting his feelings for her for a long time. That is why he was leaving Port Charles. Before he goes back into Eve's room, Joe tells Ian that it would kill Kevin if Ian told him the truth. Garcia comes along and tells Ian that the police have ruled that the accident had nothing to do with Harris. Ian says he thought so. Garcia says that they are still holding the driver. Later, Joe tells Ian and Kevin that Eve wants to see both of them. The camera shoots from outside the room. We see Eve talk to Kevin on one side and then turn to talk to Ian on her other side. He leaves the room and watches Eve and Kevin from outside, looking dejected. He says "she doesn't remember."
