Port Charles Update for Monday, 15-Jan-2001

Eve approaches the lighthouse as Kevin and Lucy are kissing inside. Ian appears on the scene before Eve discovers the action inside. Eve refuses to hear him out and says she has to tell him what she really feels, when she suddenly passes out, slumping against him. At this point, Kevin (conveniently) opens the door to find Eve in Ian’s arms. Inside, Eve wants to know why Lucy is at the house and Lucy makes some excuse about a hospital meeting, and then to shift the attention off herself, Lucy demands to know what Ian is doing there. He responds with the excuse of wanting to check on Eve, since he felt it was too soon for her to be released from the hospital and that the fainting incident is proof of that. Eve responds that she feels wonderful and has come to terms with the time lapse that she cannot remember – it is insignificant to her. Kevin seems less than convinced. When Eve tells them all that she wants to renew her wedding vows with Kevin, Lucy and Ian both roll their eyes. Lucy tries to convince Eve that it’s not a good idea, Kevin tries to sound enthusiastic. Ian leaves and Lucy follows him out, pushing him to tell her why he really came to talk to Eve. Ian responds that neither he nor Lucy belongs there, and he walks away looking lost. Back in the lighthouse, Eve tells Lucy that although they have had their differences, she is grateful for the friendship and compassion Lucy showed to Kevin during his period of “mourning.” As Eve apologizes to Lucy for misjudging her, Detective Garcia arrives with the news that Lucy is suspected of tampering with Eve and Ian’s DNA results after the car bombing.

Frank discovers Ariana in Ian’s apartment and isn’t too pleased to see her. He goes off in search of Ian, to find out whether Ian did indeed agree to let her stay with him. He ends up at the Recovery Room and although he doesn’t find Ian there, he finds Karen, Jamal and Allison. Jamal’s down because Allison has cornered him and asked if things are over between them. Frank advises Jamal never to give in when he’s in a fight with a woman, Karen counters that Jamal should offer flowers and an apology. In the end, Jamal apologizes with a kiss and tells Allison he’ll handle things better in their relationship; Allison apologizes for being a drama queen.

Overhearing Frank say that the woman who hit Eve with her car is staying at Ian’s apartment, Ariana’s brother Ben suddenly gets up and makes a hasty exit.

After enlightening Frank about his attitude, Karen leaves the Recovery Room, only to have Frank follow her. He apologizes “just in case” he’s said anything that deserves an apology and nervously asks her to be his date at an upcoming event. Karen readily accepts, likely unaware that Frank has ideas for them to be other than friends.

Back at Ian’s apartment, Ariana seems to be feeling weak and sits down. She looks up and suddenly Ben is standing in front of her. With an angry scowl, he roughly demands to know if she really thought she could keep him from finding her and that he’s responsible to return her home. Ariana looks at him, pleadingly and asks could he really do that, knowing what will happen to her. Ian arrives just in the nick of time (how’d Ben know where Ian lives anyway?)
