Port Charles Update for Tuesday, 6-Feb-2001

Karen and Frank arrange a date for the hospital auction, but runs into Scott and Rhonda (her mom) at the elevator. Rhonda is moving back to Port Charles! Karen seems a little less than excited. Meanwhile at the Recovery Room Alison has invited herself to accompany Frank to the auction. So off go Frank and Karen, along with their entourage. At the auction, Scott takes Karen aside and asks his daughter if she is ok with Rhonda being around again. He understands that Rhonda brings back memories of bad times in Karen’s life and he offers to send Rhonda away to work at his overseas office, but Karen hesitantly says no. Rhonda has sensed Karen’s uncertainty, and asks Scott if her coming back to Port Charles was a mistake, but Scott assures his old high school flame that Karen really does want to work things out. Frank goes to Karen and asks what’s bothering her. She tells Frank that their date has turned out so differently than how she envisioned it and that her mom’s arrival really took her by surprise. Frank tries to make it up to her by telling her he’ll bid on any item that she wants as a gift.

Jamal gets duded up for his first day at his gopher job on the movie set. It bugs Alison no end that his potential is being wasted on a no-brainer job but Jamal is trying to have a positive attitude and make the best of it. However, on his way to the job, he runs into two hoods from his past, who try really hard to tempt him into making $2,000 for a 10 minute job, driving a getaway car. Jamal repeatedly refuses but when these guys comment on him living off his girlfriend, his pride gets the best of him and he says that he’ll think about it.

Kevin and Lucy wake up, naked and entangled, in the train compartment. The conductor knocks, then enters saying that there’s another compartment available. When he sees them in bed together, he walks out saying that apparently they aren’t in need of the cabin anymore. Mortified, Lucy calls after him. Lucy and Kevin, not believing that they got carried away again, swear that this will never happen again. They argue, Lucy calls him a jerk and he questions how she can turn on him like that after they had such an incredibly passionate night. They realize they can’t just turn off their feelings for one another. Kevin decides he is getting off the train at the next stop and going home. Lucy tells him to go home and talk to Eve, and that she’s going on to the spa as planned. He accuses Lucy of running away. They come to the conclusion that with all the obstacles in their relationship, they may never get together but that they need to stop hurting one another. Yet again, they try to convince themselves that “it” will never, ever happen again.

On the next PC, Kevin reveals his feelings for Lucy to Eve, and Ian shares the news of his marriage with friends.
