I totally LOVED Frank & Karen today…they were GREAT!
Karen is in Frank’s garage, at the computer (Nellie). “Where are you Frank”?
Cut to Frank and Josie standing outside the garage. Josie says she wants to see the computer.
Karen is inside the garage with the pizza.
The door to the garage opens…Frank beams to Karen: “I’m so happy to see you!” They have a steamy kiss (that was QUITE a kiss…oh Frank, I have a crush on you too) Frank says “I missed you so much!”
Karen: That was some reception!
Frank (facetiously): I didn’t miss you at all
Karen: I’m glad I stuck around. Where were you, on a hot date?
Frank (feeling badly): I screwed up big time.
Karen: What’s going on?
Frank: I started missing you, and started to think you would be better off without me. I didn’t want to hurt you.
Karen: Go on.
Frank: I thought of my past life as a jerk, that you would be better off without me, so I took this waitress out on a date. Nothing happened, she had pizza, I had remorse. I told her I couldn’t see her anymore. I told her there’s this girl named Karen I’m crazy about.
Frank: She (Josie) wanted to see the computer. I got as far as this door, and then I remembered that this is our place.
Karen: Some girls get Paris, I get this drafty old garage. (Hey, I’ll take the drafty garage, as long as FRANK’S in it)
Frank: This place – with our 70’s music, Nellie – it’s our special place. I don’t want to be here with anyone but you. You’re the only person I want to be with. Forgive me…say in 50-60 years?
Karen: Well, when you told me you were on a date I though of a dozen things to do to you with this pizza. But I’m glad you’re honest and that you realize you’re STUCK on me. (Hey, I’m stuck on Frank)
Frank: Who would’ve thought something so disastrous would have a happy ending?
Karen: You’re only half way off the hook. You have some serious making up to do.
Frank: I was hoping you’d say that.
They share another steamy kiss. (Can’t I be Karen here, for just a day??)
Then the “Digital Doctor” (Arnie) interrupts this steamy kiss:
“Who’s gotta hard drive problem?”
Frank: I forgot, I called tech support to try to rescue Nellie.
Arnie: Where’s the computer room?
Karen: You’re standing in it.
Arnie: How Jurassic! I’ve gotta take a picture to upload for my user group (it didn’t seem he really tried to take a picture, did he?)
Arnie (to Frank): You didn’t alter the IRQ’s did you?
Frank: I put in a new monitor, a new modem to connect to the server.
Karen (to Frank): Tell him about the messages.
Frank: I’m getting e-mails without dialing out to the Internet.
Arnie: It’s physically IMPOSSIBLE for a 30-year-old computer to dial out to a phone line to connect to the Internet. Computers back then weren’t made that way. Unless we’re in the Twilight Zone.
Frank: Welcome to the Twilight Zone.
Dr. Digital has left.
Frank is at the computer.
Frank: That tech guy must be wrong, someone is sending me messages.
Karen: Maybe what you saw was some leftover computer program or something.
Frank: But I talked to someone, we had dialog back and forth.
Karen: How, you heard Dr. Digital, it’s impossible!
Frank: I don’t know, but we connected.
Karen: (seductively) Well, if it’s connecting you want…let’s do this the old fashioned way.
Karen puts on Harry Chapin’s “Time in a Bottle” record.
She begins to kiss his neck, his ear (ooohhhh, can’t I please please be Karen here??)
Frank (obviously enjoying it): Are you trying to distract me?
Karen: Is it working?
Frank: Yes, even though the computer isn’t.
They dance.
Frank: That’s much better.
Karen: You know, it’s been a while since you’ve held me like this, Scanlon, and this is my first night back. Can’t we think of something a little more personal to concentrate on? (Oh yeah!)
Frank: What’d you have in mind? (Like he didn’t have this in mind??)
Karen: Oh, a little this, (they kiss), a little that.
Cut to Nellie’s screen: I’m here. I want to talk to you.
Then a woman’s hands are shown, on an old keyboard. The screen displays:
I’m here. I want to talk to you. Are you there?
BIKE SHOP:
Jack, Jamal, and Alison are trying to clean up items before the midnight deadline before the building inspector comes.
Jamal: We have 27 things to clear up before midnight. There are only three of us.
Livvie: No, four of us. Count me in.
Jack: What happened to the opera with Chris?
Jack and Livvie start to argue.
Alison climbs the ladder. She starts talking to Livvie and Jack, and then slips off the ladder and falls. Jamal takes her to the hospital.
Jack and Livvie stay at the bike shop to clean up.
Livvie drops a box of something and Jack tries to help her clean up. Their hands touch. Jack says they’re sharp, don’t cut yourself. Livvie says she can’t do this, can’t be alone with him. Jack asks her to think of how it used to be between them, that they wanted each other. Jack (conceitedly, I think) says “you still want me”. Livvie (thank goodness) says she wants out of there, away from him, and walks out (good for her).
At the ER, Joe and Mary walk in on Alison and Jamal. Mary asks what’s happened, and Jamal explains that Alison fell off the ladder. Alison tells Joe that he has to fix her up. Joe checks her out, and proclaims that she didn’t break anything, but has a sprain and needs to stay off her ankle (or leg?) for the next 24 hours.
Alison and Jamal return to the bike shop. They walk in, and Alison exclaims “Oh my God, I can’t believe it!”
Cut away to Eve, who starts to call Ian, and then stops. She asks NuJoe (who’s looking better and better to me, BTW) if there’s anything she can do, she has lots of time, she lives to serve (boy, does she!). Joe says everything is covered. Then she says she realizes that she and Ian are on hold, they’ve been through so much (yada yada yada).
IAN/EVE/ARIANNA.
Ian & Arianna’s apartment:
Ian: I think I will order in tonight.
Ian finds Arianna asleep on the couch. He covers her with a blanket.
CARELESSLY, he calls Eve at the hospital, with Arianna asleep in the room.
Ian and Eve are happy to talk with each other. Eve asks him to meet her at her hotel, but Ian thinks that’s not a good idea, because of the INS. Ian tells Eve that Arianna told him about her rape and attack. He can’t leave her. Ian tells Eve that Victor is making arrangements to have Arianna relocated.
Eve: I wish I could help.
Ian: We’ll be together again soon. Remember the island..(then something about a love that’s lasted three lifetimes…yada yada yada…Ian’s being SOOO wasted in this storyline).
Eve complains that she has nothing to do, that when she sees him, she’ll do things to him..yada yada yada.
Arianna starts to scream.
Ian: I gotta go…and hangs up the phone on “poor” Eve.
Ian tells Arianna that she had a nightmare, but she’s safe now. She says she’s safe with him, starts to touch his hand and he suddenly pulls back. Arianna reminisces with Ian back to the night of the Valentine’s party, when they kissed. Even though it was for show to the INS, it was the first time Arianna felt what it could be like with a man. Ian insists they’re just friends, but Arianna says they’re more than that. Ian tells her he wants her to be safe, to live the life of her dreams, and she can’t have it with him. Arianna asks why she can’t live with him. Ian explains his plan for a new identity for her and made arrangements for a new place where her brother can’t find her. Arianna says she wants to stay in her home and not go anywhere. She states, “I’m your wife now, I am not going any where, not now, not ever”….hmmm…Ian really asked for it now!
