Port Charles Update for Friday, 13-Apr-2001

Alison & Jack discuss the mysterious key and note that Alison received. The note tells her not to tell Jamal about whatever the key leads to. Alison refuses to keep anything from Jamal and vows to wait til he returns to find the post office box that the key opens. Jack bets that her curiosity well get the best of her and she tries hard not to cave in as Jack taunts her, but eventually she does. She and Jack go to the post office, where she still has doubts about opening the box. Jack grabs the key from her, opens the box and pulls out a sack, which, much to their surprise, contains stacks of $50 bills.

Cookie irons a blouse to wear to her meeting with Frank. She wants to look just right. She picks up a framed picture, which we cannot see, and talks to whomever (Carolyn) is in the photo, telling her how much she misses her, that she was her best friend and then tells her about Frank.

Karen refuses to accompany Frank to meet Cookie but eventually he persuades her by appealing to her sympathetic nature. He assures her that he is just going there to give Cookie Kevin Collins’ phone number. Karen tells Frank that she thinks Cookie may be scamming him but he is convinced that Cookie is going to do something dire if she does not get help with her personal problems. Once they are at Kelly’s, Frank realizes that he does not know how to recognize Cookie. He approaches a young woman at the counter, but it’s not her and she thinks Frank is a pervert. He and Karen decide to take a table and wait for Cookie to find them, but he begins to worry that it’s getting late. Footsteps are approaching outside Kelly’s – a person in bellbottoms – and the door to Kelly’s opens. Frank and Karen turn around.

While Eve is tending to Arianna, Colleen tells her that Ian has signed Arianna out of the hospital and prepares for her release. Eve decides to take action. Meanwhile, Alan finds Ian in the chapel, pondering whether he is doing the right thing. Ian tells Alan not to lecture him, that he’s bringing Arianna home and it’s a done deal. Alan is able to relate to Ian’s situation. Ian is still blaming himself for the attack. Alan makes it clear to Ian that Arianna will die if he takes her from the hospital, but if he goes ahead with the experimental treatment, at least she will have a chance. Ian, for once, is hesitant to take a risk. He asks Alan what he would do in the same situation, and Alan is adamant that he would do whatever he could, including the experimental drug.

Arianna wakes up, extremely weak and asks Eve is she is dying. Eve tells her she’s not about to let that happen and explains the proposed treatment, including the risks to Arianna. Arianna asks Eve’s opinion, which of course is to go ahead, and then asks what Ian thinks. He’s been listening at the door and tells Arianna that he also agrees. Arianna trusts Eve who goes ahead and administers a dose of the experimental drug to prepare her for the transplant. Ian wills Arianna to be strong and at first all is well, but suddenly her vital signs drop and she goes into convulsions. Eve and Ian rush into action.

On Monday, Alison ponders her newfound wealth; Rhonda makes a tearful admission about her past and everyone at GH attempt to save Arianna.
