Port Charles Update for Monday, 16-Apr-2001

Cookie opens the outside door of Kelly’s but from inside the diner, it’s Rhonda who enters. Cookie, in 1973, walks in, sits down and waits for Frank. Meanwhile, Rhonda joins Karen and Frank. Karen is immediately suspicious of her mom and questions her. Rhonda admits that yes, she’s had a couple of drinks. She makes excuses and Frank offers to leave her and Karen alone to talk. Rhonda speaks of her daily struggle to avoid alcohol and shares her grief over losing Carolyn in a hit and run accident which she feels was her own fault. She tells Karen and Frank that she and Carolyn used to come to Kelly’s together and she has a lot of memories of her sister there. Meanwhile, Cookie is still waiting for Frank in ’73 and still faceless. With her fork, she carves her name on the windowsill. Rhonda is apologetic for her actions but dismisses Karen’s suggestion of rehab. While Rhonda is in the restroom, Frank tells Karen he has his doubts that Cookie was genuine. Rhonda, and Karen leave. Flash back to Cookie, who has been stood up. She sees Scotty on her way out of Kelly’s. Flash forward and when Frank leaves a tip on the table, he sees Cookie’s name etched in the windowsill.

Jack and Alison have counted $25,000 in the bag. Alison realizes it’s from Amanda (DUH!) and decides not to accept it. Jack begs her to reconsider but she does not want to take a bribe from her family, since there are always strings attached to anything from the Barringtons. She ponders how she can keep this from Jamal when he walks in. A customer comes in to have his bike repairs and asks if they are serving food again. Alison’s dream of her café is rekindled and Alison decides it’s ok to use the money if she can pay her family back once the business is successful. She tells Jamal the money came from a bond of hers that came due. Although Jamal still feels it is Barrington money, Jack sides with Alison, who agrees to think it over before rushing into anything.

Chris comes into Arianna’s room as she is arresting. Eve takes the blame for what is happening and tries to revive Arianna. Chris is pessimistic but eventually Arianna is. Arianna goes into seizure again and Eve screams that this will kill her (great job at keeping her cool, professional image). Eve, Ian revived (why is it that Ian is allowed to work on his own wife, even if he doesn’t love her?), Chris and Gabriella all try to save Arianna. They manage to revive her yet again. Ian thanks Eve and she ducks out. Gaby and Chris talk about getting a liver donor for Arianna, who apparently has a rare blood type. Chris becomes concerned about Eve’s emotional state. Ian tracks Eve down in the lounge where they exchange looks of love & hold onto each other as if they will never let go.

Tomorrow, Eve demands to know if she and Ian have a future together.
