Port Charles Update for Monday, 23-Apr-2001

Frank has found a cryptic note from Cookie behind a brick at Kelly's diner. He is convinced he is completely losing it, ... communicating with someone from 1973. Frank drowns his shock at the local bar, and tries to tell the bartender he has been communicating with someone from the past, to which the bartender thinks he has had a little too much to drink! A drunk Frank goes home to have a little "cyber chat" with his computer (again....a little too much to drink). Once again, unplugged and unconnected, the computer comes to life.

Allison, Jack and Livvie toast the newest business in Port Charles "Muffins and Mufflers" (just kidding). They have to choose a new name, because Jamal hates that name (no imagination!). Jamal is outside fending off the guys that have been giving him a bad time lately. They tell him he will be racing for them, and when Jamal flatly refuses, they show him a picture of Allison (with Jack) at the bank, cashing in her dough. Now the truth behind the money is revealed. Now that these guys have a "stake" in their new business, they figure Jamal will have to do what they say. When Jamal figures these guys have set Allison up, he tells the guy that he will get him every cent, but refuses to play his game. Jamal pulls Jack aside and tells him he thinks Jack was part of the setup, as it was a group of guys Jack used to run around. Jack tells Jamal he didn't know there was a setup. He confesses why Allison didn't tell Jamal where she thought the money came from (her Nana). Jamal tells Jack he wants Allison to know nothing about this, while he figures out a way to take care of this mess. He asks Jack to not let Allison be alone at the shop.
He doesn't want to race, because people will surely be hurt.

Karen finds out she is a near perfect match as a donor for Arianna. Eve is elated, but Karen crushes her hopes as she tells Eve she can't be a donor for Arianna. Eve wants to tell Ian, but Karen wants to continue looking for another donor. Karen says her doctorly instincts pushed her to test herself, but she never imagined she would be a donor. Karen finally tells Eve that she can't have the surgery, because she would have to rely on narcotics and she isn't sure she has what it takes to fight the drug habit a third time. She tells Eve that her craving never leaves, and she is terrified of becoming a spiral like her mother. Eve tells Karen she will help her , but can't believe Karen can turn her back on saving a life. Eve finally tells Karen that if the decision is too tough for her, they will find another donor. Karen knows what this transplant could mean for Eve and Ian, but Eve refuses to let that be part of the equation. Karen also knows she could be Arianna's only chance at life.

On the next Port Charles...Karen is furious with a drunk Frank.
