Outside Kelly's, in 1973, Cookie tries to strike up a conversation with two other teenage girls. They laugh at her and go inside. Inside, Cookie asks a waitress if Frank has been there. Cookie tells the other girls that she's going to the school dance and she's bringing a date. They make fun of her. Cookie wonders if she made a mistake telling them that she was bringing a date. At home, Cookie calls and asks someone to the dance, but he already has a date. Cookie has a couple of beers and talks about being unpopular.
Frank's computer has a message on the screen: You're the only friend she has. Frank can't believe that Nellie is now talking to him. He starts to walk away but his sweater gets caught. He yells at Nellie to let him go. The message starts flashing. Frank, who has had too many beers, gets really angry. He finally frees himself from the computer. As he is screaming at Nellie, Karen enters and is astounded at what she sees and hears. When Frank tells Karen that Cookie is from 1973 and that he thinks that Nellie is some kind of time machine, she stares at him in disbelief. After she notices the beer bottles, she calls Frank a bastard. She reminds him that he knew what she was going through because of her mother's drinking. How could he do this? Outside, Karen tells Frank that she came to him because she needed someone to listen to her. When she found him drunk, talking to his computer and babbling about time travel, she was so disappointed. He insists that she tell him what she came there for. Karen tells him that she is a match for Arianna. Frank says that's great. Karen isn't so sure. She says she feels selfish because she knows that being Arianna's donor would help Eve and Ian get back together, but she can't risk having any drugs in her system. Karen lashes out at Frank, upset with him for being drunk when she needed him. Karen leaves.
In the on-call room, Joe and Chris are on the computer, looking for information which could help Arianna. They tell Ian that Eve has found a drug. Ian says that Eve is off the case. He doesn't want Eve's name and Arianna's name mentioned in the same sentence. Eve enters and wants to know why. Eve apologizes for interrupting and has flashbacks of Karen finding out she could be a donor for Arianna. Joe, Chris and Ian talk about the urgency of finding a donor for Arianna. Eve says she is optimistic. Joe says that since he knows Eve and Ian are in love, he hopes that Arianna will be saved soon. Then Eve and Ian will not feel any guilt and can be together. The doctors rush out when they hear someone scream. Out in the corridor, a woman has gone into labor. The doctors work together to help her. In the delivery room, she wants Eve to deliver the baby. When Eve places the newborn baby in his mother's arms, Eve and Ian stand close to each other and exchange loving glances. Later, in a chapel, Ian is told by his deceased sister that he doesn't look like a man who just delivered a baby. Ian tells his sister that he's praying for Arianna. He's also praying that he'll keep Eve off his mind. He knows that he can't, because he still loves her. Eve comes in and sits with Ian. She tells him that she has found a match for Arianna but the person hasn't made a decision and is remaining anonymous for now. Eve says she believes this person "will pull through for us." Ian asks "us?" Eve corrects herself: "for Arianna." Ian has a big smile on his face, looking like he has great hope.
The episode ends with music playing while we see Karen sitting on her patio, looking like she is doing some heavy thinking. We also see Frank shooting baskets in his driveway. Finally, we see Eve and Ian in the chapel. When Eve gets up to leave, Ian grabs her hand and she pauses for a moment. Before she goes out the door, Eve turns around to watch Ian.
