Port Charles Update for Friday, 27-Apr-2001

After Jack warns him to be careful, Jamal (wearing a wire) meets with Zack. Zack gets suspicious as to why Jamal wanted to meet with him, and Jamal tells him it’s so that Alison doesn’t get suspicious. Jamal agrees to race for Zack, under the conditions that Zack leave Alison alone and that the race not be fixed. Zack agrees to these terms and Jamal makes him repeat the incriminating statements back to him (and his recorder). When Jamal leaves, Sam appears and tells Zack she thinks Jamal won’t go through with it but Zack intends to make sure that he does.

Meanwhile, Alison is getting very suspicious of Jack, who’s been flaking out on plans with Livvie to be with Alison and even offers to accompany her to the nail salon. She accuses him first of being attracted to her and then of telling Jamal about the money from “Nana.” Jack assures her that Jamal does not believe the money came from her grandmother.

Once Jamal returns to the bike shop, Alison goes outside to wait for a delivery and moments later, Jamal hears the screech of tires and Alison screaming.

Frank warns a drunk Cookie not to go to the dance. She demands to know why he cares what she does and still has doubts that Frank and the time difference are for real. Frank tells her that he can tell her future and that going to the dance will ruin her whole life. Frank tries to win Cookie’s trust. She finally agrees to stay home. Frank gets ready to meet Karen but tries to send Cookie one last message. He is unable to make a connection. The next scene is Karen at the hospital, walking toward the phone, but she fades and vanishes. When Frank arrives at the hospital, he thinks everyone is playing a practical joke on him because neither the nurse at the nurses’ station nor his own brother Joe have ever heard of Karen Wexler!

Eve looks in on sleeping Arianna and apologizes for not being able to help her. Ian comes in and Arianna wakes up and thanks Eve for volunteering to be her donor, even though she did not turn out to be a match. Arianna tells them that she knows she is going to die. Both Ian and Eve try to convince her that they will find a donor. When Eve leaves, Ian tells Arianna that there’s to be no more talk of dying. She tells him that she has to face reality. She’s not afraid to die as long as Ian will be with her when it happens. She tells him that she came from a world where honor was more important than her life and she is grateful for the different type of world that he showed her. He tells her that he wishes he could have done more for her and she tells him that her final wish is not to die at the hospital. Although Ian’s still not ready to accept that Arianna is going to die, he tells her that he will bring her home to wait for news of a donor.

Eve arrives at a bar and orders a double Kamikaze. Chris has followed her there and she demands to know why. He tells her it’s because he knew she was upset. He takes the drink away from her and orders the bartender not to serve her. Eve is furious with his meddling and demands to know why he cares when she is not hurting anyone other than herself. But Chris has news for her – her drinking would affect someone other than herself, Eve is pregnant!

On Monday, Alison accuses Sam of trying to run her down, Frank confronts a drunken Rhonda who admits to being Cookie and Eve comes to grips with the fact that she is having Ian's baby.
