Port Charles Update for Friday, 4-May-2001

Alison and Livvie demand that Jack tell them where Jamal is and where the money came from. Alison catches on that Jamal is in trouble. A customer comes to the bike shop talking about the big race and shows Alison a flyer with Sam’s picture on it and she figures out that Jamal is at the race. Meanwhile, as Jamal prepares to race, Sam taunts him. Jamal reminds Zack that this is a one time thing, but Zack has other ideas. Alison, Livvie and Jack arrive as the race is ending and Jamal wins. Alison confronts him, screaming.

Chris calls Eve’s doctor about her test results (weird!) and apparently everything is fine. Eve corners Ian. They discuss the possibility that Rhonda may be a suitable donor for Arianna. They then move on to the topic of future and family, they keep getting interrupted before Eve can tell him the BIG NEWS. They walk in on Chris in the on-call room. The results of Rhonda’s tests are in, and her liver is too damaged for her to be an organ donor. As she realizes that Arianna may not make it and that she is still Ian’s top priority, her confidence in a future with Ian disappears and she does not tell him she’s pregnant. Chris asks her why she did not tell Ian. Eve tells him that she realizes her first priority is this baby and Ian’s is Arianna. She has to face the fact that she can’t hang onto false hope for a future for herself and Ian, and needs to move on so that she can provide the best possible life for her child, on her own. Chris tells Eve that she has another option that she hasn’t considered yet – him. He asks Eve to marry him, and promises he will provide everything she could want for her baby.

Kevin visits with Rhonda and asks her about Frank. Rhonda says that frank is a nut case. She gets really upset when Kevin asks about her daughter. She tells him she always wanted a family and if she had one, she would not be in the sorry shape she is. Meanwhile, Frank looks at the sketch Kevin drew of Karen and reviews his memories of her. Outside the Recovery Room, he overhears Victor, Joe and Mary discussing him. Mary tries to be optimistic but Joe just thinks he’s crazy. Meanwhile, Victor cannot find any evidence of the existence of a Dr. Karen Wexler. Determined, Frank vows to find Karen and bring her back, no matter what it takes.

Ian overhears Kevin talking to Rhonda about her “daughter.” Ian asks Kevin if this is really true. He’d give anything to find a relative of Rhonda’s, since they could potentially be a donor match for Arianna. Ian leaves the hospital and runs smack into Frank at the park. Ian questions Frank about Rhonda’s phantom daughter. Frank tries to get Ian to remember Karen, and then tells Ian that Karen had been a match for Arianna and was on her way to the hospital to volunteer to be her donor. As Frank tries to explain the computer craziness, Ian loses hope. He realizes what Frank is trying to tell him is impossible. Frank, realizing he has someone that has something to gain from Karen’s existence, tries harder to convince Ian. He gets nowhere until he quotes Karen as saying she wanted to donate to give Ian and Eve another chance, so they could be together “not just for one night but for always.”

On Monday, Alison demands to know where the $25,000 came from; Eve considers Chris’ proposal; Ian and Frank go to the chief for help.
