Port Charles Update for Monday, 7-May-2001

In the on-call room, Eve can't believe that Chris' proposal is sincere. He insists that he could be a good father. Chris reminds Eve that they were both raised by single parents. This child should have the advantage of two parents. Eve says she's not her mother. She can raise this child on her own. Chris remembers that Eve told him how afraid she was to be a single parent years ago. Chris says he wants kids. Eve starts crying and asks Chris "what's in it for you?" Chris insists he has no ulterior motive. He's ready to settle down. This isn't to replace Julie and Christina. He thinks they should leave town and start a practice somewhere. Feeling like he's getting nowhere, Chris starts to leave, saying that it's a stupid idea. Eve stops him, saying that maybe it's not such a stupid idea. Eve says that them making a life together makes a crazy kind of sense. She'll think about it. Chris promises he won't let her down. He leaves. Eve looks at her belly and strokes it.

Alison is furious with Jamal. She demands to know why he was racing. She lets him know that it was not Jack who told her that Jamal was there. She also knows that Nana did not give her the money. Alison reminds Jamal that he could have been badly hurt like the last guy who raced for Zach. Why would he do this? Did Zach threaten him? Alison can tell from the look on Jamal's face that Zach threatened her safety. She also knows that Zach was responsible for her receiving the $25,000. Zach approaches them and wants to speak to Jamal privately. Jack snubs Sam. Zach talks to Jamal about future races, but Jamal says it's over. Zach says it isn't over until he says so. Jamal tells Zach that if anything happens to him, Alison, or his friends, the police will get a tape of incriminating evidence against Zach. Zach deduces that Jamal was wearing a wire when they had a conversation. Back at the bike shop, Alison and Jamal say they won't keep anything from each other again. Livvie suggests they all make a pact to be upfront with one another in the future. Jamal and Alison agree but Jamal is sure that he has enough evidence on the tape to keep them safe from Zach. At the bike track, Zach tells Sam that they have to get the tape.

In the park, Ian and Frank discuss the existence of Karen. Ian finds it hard to believe except for one fact. Frank knows what Ian said to Eve in a private moment. Frank claims that he found out from Karen after Eve told her. Ian holds onto hope that Karen could exist. He knows who can help them. Frank and Ian go to Ian's apartment. Frank tells the chief his whole story, how he tampered with the past. He speaks of his love for Karen. The chief says that he believes Frank because he is speaking from his heart. They can travel through time. Ian tells Frank that he travelled through time with Eve after receiving a potion from the chief. The chief explains to Frank that the potion will only work on someone whose love is very strong. Frank assures him that his love for Karen is strong. He wants to go back to the night of the dance and destroy Rhonda's computer. The chief is hesitant. He warns Frank that if he travels to the past nobody will know where he has gone.
