You all are invited to Chris and Eve's wedding, hey I even saved you a seat on the front row. No need to rub your eyes and try again, you read that right. Chris and Eve's wedding. Now would I lie? Of course I wouldn't. There is Eve all dressed in white (just a wee bit of stretch) and there is Chris looking yummy in a tux and Chris is looking deep into Eve's eyes and whispering softly words of love - well he's whispering "no regrets" and Eve echoes the emotion and it's time to get married and up steps the minister who turns around and - hey look it's Ian! Eve is aghast and then suddenly were not in Kansas - er - wedding land anymore. We are back in the oncall room where Eve looks more than a little startled.

And now we are at the Scanlon's where my favorite backburner couple has appeared for the ten minutes that tptb kindly allot them each week - that would be Kevin and Lucy of course. Oh, and darn it but they are not alone - there's Joe and Gabby (I was wondering if they were still on PC) and Mary and Victor and all are all a-flutter about Frank's losing not one but pretty much all his marbles. They are planning to ambush - I mean intervention with - upon - whatever the right word is - Frank.

Let's say we travel over to Ian's place and see what said marble-less person is doing. The character-known-only-as-Chief has called his people? tribe? fellow morcasites? and informs Frank and Ian that the ingredients are being gathered. The Chief has very good advice for Frank - and most men are so good at taking advice - only fix what he broke (that would be Karen) don't mess with anything else when he travels back to 1973, no matter how much he is tempted. Changing the past could have dire results for the future - something Frank should have pretty much figured out by now.

As the extended Scanlon family discusses Frank, Lucy has a novel idea. Maybe Frank is telling the truth, maybe there really is a Karen. Victor and Mary seem to consider the possiblility while Kevin takes Lucy aside, explaining to her that this is not the time or place to discuss such universe twists. Lucy agrees to zip her lip so to speak, if Kevin will unzip his narrow mind. Kevin reminds Lucy that if his mind was so narrow, he wouldn't be so in love with hers. And since we don't want to use all of K/L's ten minutes in one day, we rush back over to Ian's where the Chief is explaining to Frank that once his journey begins he will appear as if in a coma to others in the here and now and he cannot be distrubed or bad things will happen. Frank leaves to talk to his family and spin some damage control.

Back in Fantasyland, aka On-Call Room, Eve envisions her and Chris and a little girl all living happily together with kisses and hugs for everyone. Chris is a great dad, she's a happy Mom, little girl is thriving and content. Awww. Eve opens her eyes and thinks that she could do that. Maybe. At the Scanlon's Frank is reassuring his family that one shower later and hey he's good as new (he washed that Karen right out of his hair). He no longer is having fantasies about Karen and has decided a trip to Alaska is just what the doctor - ambulance attendant - ordered. Lucy catches Frank on his way to his car and asks to see the picture, cause didn't Frank say Scott could be a father (actually he did not - only to the Chief and to Ian who I assume told Lucy nothing but hey - if time can travel so can thoughts). An on edge Frank says there is no longer a picture, no longer a Karen, everything will be okay soon.

Eve puts on a CD and "When I'm 64" begins to play. Again she is in Daydream land where she and Chris may not be 64 but are older and more distinguished looking (especially Chris - now this is my idea of spending an afternoon at work - all day fantasies of Chris). They run into older and maybe wiser Ian and make small talk while Eve devours Ian with her eyes but never leaves Chris' side. Getting up she turns off the CD player and makes a phone call to Chris, after the fastest answering machine on earth starts recording she tells him that she needs more time to consider his - searches for a word - offer and she needs some time away.

Ian - alone again naturally - sits down at the chess board with his whiskey and lookie there's his dead sister Granya popping in for a social call. Ian admits to Granya that he is afraid to hope for a bright future with Eve, but he's trying. I want a job at GH because no one cares if you ever work or when you go on vacation, because there is Eve taking things out of her locker, caressing Ian's name on his, and getting ready to hit the road - how much vacation do ya think they get a year? About 38 weeks? Kevin and Lucy put their linear and circular minds together (and if you don't know which is which I certainly am not going to explain it to you) and both agree that Frank is lying and that he is going after this woman named Karen. Frank is sitting on the bed without his shoes and with his neat white socks and writing a letter to Neil about how much he loves him, how much he hopes Neil can trust that he would never leave him without a good reason, and how no matter what happens Frank will always be with Neil. Mary gives Frank her rosary, the one her grandfather gave her and that she wore at her first communion. Mary tells Frank they will protect him wherever he goes. I hope he hangs on to them tight.

And this episode is over...
