Port Charles Update for Monday, 27-Aug-2001

Kevin tries to call home, and meets with frustration. It’s killing him that he’s the only one who realizes Caleb and Michael are one person and he has no way to warn anyone. Rafe offers to help them, and arranges their departure on the next flight. Lucy assumes that her cousin will be accompanying them back to Port Charles, but Rafe has some mysterious things that need attending to. Before they part, he gives Lucy a gift, a crossbow and tells her that she must use her powers to know when and how to use it to destroy Caleb. She has an emotional goodbye with the only family she has, and looks back as she leaves.

Jamal and Alison are depressed over the fate of their friends. As they mourn the undead, Jack and Livvie come bouncing into the bike shop, cheerful as can be. It doesn’t take the semi-vampires long to realize that their friends are afraid. They establish that no one has crossed over, but that Caleb is not destroyed and Jack reminds them all that Caleb will come looking for him and Livvie. Jack is unhappy to hear that Chris has not made any progress in his research and is concerned that Livvie’s cravings will start soon. Noticing Jack and Livvie’s enjoyment of ginger ale, Jamal asks Jack if this is the first time he’s craved something other than blood since being bitten and Jack says yes. Jack remains doubtful as the others feel certain that Jack and Livvie’s love must have drained Caleb of his strength and he must have given up. Jack thinks they are being too optimistic and of course he is right. Suddenly Livvie doubles over, howling in pain. Looks like Jamal is going to need to make another trip to the blood bank.

On the plane ride home, Lucy worries about Rafe and Kevin frets over Livvie. He feels guilty for not having realized they were dealing with a multiple personality. Lucy asks her to direct his energies toward helping her with her task of bringing down Caleb. They try, again, to determine what the talisman is. Kevin remembers Eve telling him that Michael saw himself as his brother’s keeper, that he became a priest to balance Caleb’s evil, that James said Michael could never hurt his brother. Kevin remembers that at one point, Michael had Caleb under CONTROL, he stresses this word. Then Kevin realizes what the talisman is. It is Michael. That is what is protecting Caleb.

Ian learns from Gabriella’s family priest that Michael is no more of a priest than Ian is. He takes off to find Eve. When he runs into Karen and tells her what he’s learned (he still does not know MiCaleb are one), she confesses the truth, that Eve has gone to find Michael.

Eve is face to face with a vampire in priest’s clothing. She tries to escape but Caleb grabs her and reminds her that her baby is his. Eve and Caleb struggle and she begs for her life and that of her baby. Caleb assures her he will do nothing to harm the baby, HIS baby, his son. He starts choking Eve and she screams for Michael. He comes back into Caleb’s body, sobbing and apologizing. He tells her to go, get out and hurry but before she can get out the doors, they slam shut and Caleb is once again in control. He tells her Michael is gone and not ever coming back. Eve still doesn’t seem to understand that her friend and his evil twin are two people in one body but she then witnesses MiCaleb struggle with himself. Every two words, his head jerks in the other direction and he becomes the alter personality “Let her go!” “No!” “Stop!” “Never!” “You need me!” and so on. Ian barges in and smashes MiCaleb on the head. Eve screams for her friend. A fire starts and Ian tries to drag Eve out of the chapel. She refuses to leave her friend but it’s Caleb who regains consciousness and Ian finally gets her out. He locks the door and as they run into the woods, the door explodes and Caleb walks out from the flames screaming “You can’t get away! No one ever gets away! That baby is MINE!”

Tomorrow, Jamal asks Gaby to summon Caleb, Lucy tells Eve what they must do to destroy Caleb and Eve offers herself as bait.
