Port Charles Update for Wednesday, 19-Sep-2001

Jamal runs into an old flame at the convent when he is dropping off Gabriela. As they get to talking, we are reminded that she is the young, pregnant girl last year who Jamal helped deliver her baby. She reveals that she lost her baby, because she was irresponsible. She gave the baby (aptly called "hope") up for adoption some time after having her, because she couldn't take care of her. Meanwhile, when Jamal doesn't show up at the hospital, Allison begins to worry and goes to the place she knew he would be last-the convent. She oversees Jamal hugging this girl, and wonders who she is. When she approaches Jamal, she is relieved to see who his "friend" is and excited to see her, although it's clear this girl has no idea that Allison and Jamal are an item. Allison leaves to go get a drink of water, and Gabby overhears the girl asking Jamal why he didn't mention to her that he was "with" Allison, and that she assumes he did not tell Allison that they had slept together (he had not!). After Allison comes back, and she and Jamal leave, Gabby approaches her and tells her she overheard them talking and that Jamal is her brother (hm...I know I'm not the only one, but does anyone wonder who's baby that is???)


Livvie starts to respond to the antidote for the snake bite and her health turns the corner for the better, to the relief of everyone. Eve feels that Ian is not taking her concerns about the return of Caleb seriously. As Eve and Lucy are visiting, Lucy confirms for her that if it were her, she would do whatever she had to in order to keep her baby safe and follow her instincts (which tell her Caleb is after her baby). Eve enlists Lucy's help and they leave the hospital quickly to take the baby home (it's great to see these two strong women on the same side-Port Charles beware!). However, both fear the wrath of Irish temper when Ian finds out. At the hospital, Ian goes to check on the baby, and finds the baby basinette empty, and a dazed Livvy next to it, hypnotized by the lullaby of the mobile hanging above the basinette. As Livvie babbles about Caleb back, the lullaby etc. Ian freaks. He can't find Eve, or the baby. Kevin comes into the nursery looking for Livvie, and gives Ian a note (which turns out to be from Eve) telling him that she has gone home with the baby. He storms home, Lucy leaves, and he tells Eve that she ruined a pivitol "Father" moment by taking the baby home without him and denying him those experiences. Eve is firm in her resolve, but feels bad that she took the steps she did.

Jack asks Livvie why she went to the catacombs, and she tells him about her feelings that Caleb is still there, the ring that never disappears, and the lullaby that plays constantly in her head. He wants to finish this off for good, and takes a field trip to the catacombs and tries to nail up a barricade (yeah-THAT will work!) as a symbolic gesture of his willfulness to keep Livvie safe. Lucy follows him, shares in the moment, and helps. After they leave, the barricade comes down!
